Wanted you to know, this is timeless. You said on one part, verbatim what I needed to hear at that very moment. Universe works expectantly sometimes. Those 4 words, meant more to me than I want to write here. They brought me peace thank you🙏🏻
I am a truck driver trying to make Buddhism my primary path and these videos help. I can only learn so much from books. I live close to Minneapolis, but my work schedule keeps me out for weeks.
A little late in responding, but I too was trucking when I first engaged, years ago. My teacher told me that being isolated in a truck, was actually quite a hidden blessing for meditation and reflection (far less distractions).
I like to treat thoughts like passing clouds. I let them pass by like a cloud or storm and focus on the awareness of breath or sound because those focuses work best for me and help hold me to real time awareness. If I fight my thoughts or my mind... if I fight anything, battle anything... I’ve lost my focus on awareness and cannot let it pass by. So that’s the kind of perception I use which helps me.
Feel. Be aware of what you feel. Don’t think or have opinions or follow a line of thinking on that. Just experience and focus on the awareness of that experience.
A way to stop following your thoughts is the understanding of non-self (state of compassion and awareness where self-consciousness is gone and focusing on one point/concept) and understanding that these thoughts entering your mind are not you. Those feelings are not you. The 10 perfections and compassion and non-self are easier this way and helps with meditation.
+Michael “Avian Aficionado” Purser It's part of relaxation. The idea is to deeply rest and then eventually you become very alert in the state of meditation. It's a skill one learns.
I got into Buddhism and meditation as a way of easing my anxiety disorder without medication. I wanted nothing more from meditation but moments of peace, but as I did it more and more I found a sudden depth and clarity arose with each practice. There is more to me now than I ever thought was there. I am really interested now in the further teachings of buddhism. I wish I had the opportunity to take your class!
Practice Buddha Dharma for Enlightenment Not for temporary relief of your illness and anxiety .If you are following buddha dharma out of worldly concern ,you are completely missing the point .

Changing the mindset (view) about anxiety can have a strong influence on how anxiety manifests itself over time. Hope that's helpful, and may all sentient being end suffering.
I think that it is not bad to come to Buddhism to relieve anxiety but I don't know that much about it. I'm coming to Buddhism for something like that, to relieve my anxiousness & sadness, but I am also very interested in enlightenment, and just everything surrounding Buddhism.

I would say, Buddhism is a spirituality, not an organized religion based on dogma. It would still be classified under religion because it deals with personal interpretation of their world and their purpose in it, but the style is like our tribal beliefs and tribal earth based sciences. Spiritual religions are very different from dogmatic religions or dogmatic science practices.
+Michael “Avian Aficionado” Purser You breathe in and out through the nose, letting the mouth relax while keeping the top tip of the tongue at the roof of the mouth.
that mean if I meditate with breth in hold pres slow release by the nostrils, and do not let my mind go on past things or future things , sure there will be nothing else then think on the here and now , it is wanderful it is making my mind empty of things that are not real, and my reality at the moment of meditation is the thinking on the meditstion itself , in other words on the steps breath inby nostrils, hold pressdown release slow by nostrils and repeat it over and iover till there will be no past or future thoughts making it my thoughts inside my mind . the only thinkg is it will live me with the teachings of any philosophy is the past of it or the future of it and that will take mymind to things thst are no more or are not yet. i wish i could find personaly that master to learn that to
Andy Yeo Normally you start to distinguish a difference in feeling between when you are experiencing your mind and when you are being influenced by the energy or feeling of others. I my culture, if we are a sensitive child, no one tells us what we perceive is wrong if it differs even greatly from others. The design of the individual brain is unique and so perception and life interpretation will also be unique. This only makes sense. It should be expected that each will interpret realities and life individually and not just collectively though we are all connected and collective understandings are also possible.
I suppose that “space” to enjoy during meditation is about 3-4 fingers above the belly button, you can feel it while you’re body is perfectly balanced and stable. The Chinese Medical refers it as “中脘穴”.
+Tashi Lhamu Boredom is another mind-state. Sit and be aware of the present moment and where you are, how you feel, how your mind is. Then you're not really bored.
Wow 10 months and you couldn't stop looking for a reaction to your remarks. You have no idea what my opinion is...and you certainly did express your view over and over and over. I won't respond to you again. You really are needy and an attention seeker. Very sad. I will leave it to you to have the last word, but I won"t be reading it. That is torture for someone who wants attention. I am watching the end of the video now. Over and out.
Money and property is "very important"? WTF is this. Siddhartha lived on alms without property, Milarepa lived in a cave eating nettles. Is this some kind of way to get Westerners who are used to comfort, money and property interested in Tibetan Buddhism? ...
Lukáš Dohnal That is your right. You do know it sounds ridiculous accusing a renown Buddhist monk of foisting or conveying messages encouraging materialism right? I think any logical person would assume a language barrier is in play. I mean, really? Can you be so stubborn in needing to be correct that you would mistake a judge for encouraging lawlessness? A congressman encouraging sedition? A mother encouraging talking to strangers? Or a Buddhist encouraging materialistic discord?
I don't really care how does it sound. Stubborn to be correct? WTF. :-) I'll just say that I am not going to assume that he didn't mean what he said just because of a general western assumption of what a "renowned Buddhist monk" should say.
Serene W "It is important to live "comfortably", so there is no stress around this area of life." I always lived in impression that Buddhism is about removing stress by changing your inward outlook on reality, instead of changing the outer reality. "However, if everyone gave up on having families, then this would be the end of the human race." Maybe. And I don't see it as a bad thing. Far from it, actually. "If everyone always mediated and only focused on spiritual practice, then they may eventually starve because there is no attention on gathering and preparing food." Maybe not, because they would live on prāna or some shit like that. And if the person would indeed starve and die, what does it matter if you're not attached? "If all were monks, who would give alms?" Nature would provide (nettles, anyone?). And if not, then what of it. Suffering creates an opportunity for meditation on itself. And again, death doesn't matter if one is not attached.

Thank you Venerable for your Dharma teaching. Your meditation teaching is excellent and so is your English. Praise to our Lord Buddha.

I believe sleepiness in meditation is either due to a lack of sleep or a lack of right concentration.

Body, speech and mind is similar to tribal also. We see four directions of the sentient being: body, mind, spirit and heart. Very similar.

Coz the Buddha so democratic about investigating that makes Buddhism dont spread fast like force people to belief like other religions do.
