Great review of this branch line. The amount of hype that this extension received undoubtedly makes it my favorite transit extension of all time, since it's so encouraging to see this many people excited about public transport.
As a tufts student who takes the Lowell line home occasionally, I would love a west Medford extension of the GLX. However, I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, as they had to scrap it due to budget problems.
I was on the second train at the front too and didn’t even realize you were there at E. Somerville and South! I was the person in the blue jacket if you saw me
Lol I was having the 8:20 conversation about regional transit authorities vs. centralization. I had no idea you were Boston by rails, I would have said hi!
I used to take either Bus 80, 87 or 88 to Lechmere Station to go to Boston, Now all I have to do is walk towards Magoun Square Station which is literally feet from where I live lol
This Green Line extension was plan back in the late 1980’s due lack of federal funding it was shelved now when the Orange Line closed from the old Forest Hills to Downtown Boston back in 1987 the last train from Forest Hills Station was a 4 car train of the # 01200 series it was jam pack
This video brings me JOY
me TOO!

No warming stations?
Nope! Lol
I really hope we get an extension to West Medford at some point. Commuter rail connection is too good to pass up

That sounds like a good idea but that’s probably not gonna happen for another decade.

Cool!
The crowd are the descendants of the Bostonians who attended the opening of the first L train line in Boston in June 1901.
