This is one of the first interviews where I've heard a politician talk and I feel like he actually knows what it means to be a politician. Where you're welcome to have your own personal beliefs and your own morals, but your job is to do the best that you can by the constitution. You have your own choices that you would personally make, but ultimately you have to let other people make their own decisions in that same situation. He gets it , and I can't even explain how important that is.

I have great respect for Jimmy Carter. I believe his faith in genuine. The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin. "You shall not lie wit a male as one lies with a female. It is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22. Jesus quoted taught and quoted scripture. He loves all people. We are all sinners. While He loves Sinners, He does not condone sin, therefore I can not see Him approving of gay marriage which is sinful according to the word of God.

I honestly believe that Jimmy Carter is a good christian man. When I was a kid my parents sort of started to get a divorce but stayed together and remained married until Dad died. Mother took me to a new (Baptist) Church similar to Carters and basically I was forced t deal with an old (to me at the time) woman who was getting a divorce and hated males. This messed me up over sex and marriage and divorce and I am glad my parents stayed together and I enjoyed my family for many years. This church spread rumors apparently that I was a Homosexual or Gay (I am not sure if the terms have different meanings) but at the time I was wholly unaware of the rumors. If I had known about them I probably NOT have participated in some government activities and political youth organizations. I don't think homosexuals should be President. Because I was involved in Politics I will give the two Democrat/Catholic/City Council Members who both became Town Mayor the benefit of the doubt and say that they "investigated" me as potentially being a homosexual. One became mayor as a Republican if we want to get things straight and he only leaned towards Catholicism based on conversations. Since I was not sexually active at the time and had only dated girls a couple of times I thought the investigation (which involved a male at least posing as a homosexual if it was not in fact homosexual) propositioning me in public. I was even told that a US Senator had given permission for us to have sex! In any case to run on my sentences and abuse the English Language I thought the investigation was an attempt to rape me and I had a lot of trouble in College for 3 years until finally I was around someone I could sort of trust with the event. I believe the rumors and involvement of churches and politicians has basically ruined my life. I have had serious difficulty earning a living and rumors that I am Gay or Homosexual or whatever seem to be a part of this. Possibly Carter and his Democrat friends see a way to expand government and government programs and ruin lives like mine with such rumors and ideas. Possibly Carter is a victim himself of what I call the Jeremy Bentham paradox. Carter is a good man and sees the world through good eyes and wants others to be happy perhaps in ways he has never been happy and so he comes up with this sort of idea. But Churches and Politicians in my view and experience have ruined my life with this nonsense and quite honestly to really participate in politics in America you need money and I am simply not that wealthy. Quite honestly I can't vote or even go to church because of the rumors and lies these people circulate. And in the name of Jesus Christ, if Democrats and Republicans did not want me participating in the political process just tell me and I'll leave. I was a good student. I had great math ability. There were a number of subjects I might have studied in College I might have studied to earn millions during my life. To have my life ruined by these fanatics.... well, you fill in the blanks...

I love Jimmy Carter, such a compassionate and beautiful human being. He's right, gays should have the same civil rights as anyone. Our culture is trying to redefine this holy institution, but that doesn’t change how God feels about this. The Bible is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow regardless of what our culture does. Good for him. Approve of a "love that is honest and sincere and in not damaging to anyone else. And I don't see gay marriage as damaging to anyone else." Well said. Anyone who is "damaged" "offended" etc. is choosing to be, period. The union itself has no impact on them directly. I would argue more people are damaged by someone entering into a heterosexual marriage, because society would not accept anything else at the time, and ultimately hurting their partner when they accept who they are and leave the relationship. As for the scripture argument, there is plenty of scripture that disagrees with societal norms nowadays. There is scripture stating its ok for us to own a slave(Colossians 3:22, Titus 2:9 etc.), although the USA moved on from that a long time ago.

How can anyone call him evil when: 1) He is a most compassionate human being, helping those in need, serving his country (he was in the navy, was governor of Georgia, and of course was President) and helping others for all of his life, and 2) Can anyone here *ever* come close to the impact he's made on helping those in need worldwide? This man is a beacon of love, compassion, humility, service, and kindness, which is way more important than agreeing on the same specific religious teaching on a particular specific subject. Carter is confusing in this interview there is a Secular/Religious mix. My mother once tried to divorce my father because she hoped the Baptist Church would kick him out and he would lose his money and income. She hates men because that seems to be what she says. His Presidential Library is at Emory University which is a Methodist institution at my last reading and I believe Methodists and all religious institutions would agree that the Union of a Virgin Male and Virgin female was in keeping with church and religious teachings. As for me, mother told me NOT to listen to people in the Baptist Church. So probably I should ignore any POLITICAL stuff Carter says (since he was President) and listen only to God and Jesus Christ. So I should probably ignore the same-sex marriage issue. Personally, I have always acted consistent with what I believe God and Jesus Christ would want me to do. I do not feel guilty for this even though I have not attended church regularly for 40 years. My mother started a rumor - a dishonest lie - about 40 years ago that I wanted to be a Roman Catholic and the Church supported her. I believe they lied along with her as well as accusing me (falsely) of being a Homosexual. I was a normal kid and should have been allowed normal social interactions. I did not know until recently what sodomy was and have never wanted to be involved with sodomy probably because I have had no friends like that. I know a Baptist woman whose Husband "became" gay and her gay husband married another gay man. She may have been rewarded by the church with a new rich husband who owned a farm. But believe me, Roman Catholics are not going to begin interpreting anti-slavery laws in a way that forces them to pay their Priests and Nuns a wage and I would be surprised to learn that Baptists allow racially mixed churches at any time in the future. When Carter EXCLUDES CHURCHES from the Law, I believe that this is a huge exclusion in his view. Even though I have never been a homosexual and don't want to be, there is still discrimination against people who are even rumored to be a homosexual. Also, the term translated to "as with" means 'bed' every other time it's used in Leviticus but, you know, it's impossible to condemn gay people with a line that actually reads "a man shall not lay with another man on a woman's bed" (Leviticus 15 gives a pretty long list of bed issues seeing there were 3 types back then (ie, a man's, a woman's and the marriage bed)). btw, we know it is suppose to mean 'bed' because when Paul wrote the Corinthians verse used against gay people, the terms translated to mean homosexuality (btw2, 100 years ago it was translated to 'ma$turbation instead, in the 16th century it was pedophilia & in the midieval times it was pimping) he wrote the Greek words to "soft" (as in morals) and "male BED". This is one of the first interviews where I've heard a politician talk and I feel like he actually knows what it means to be a politician. Where you're welcome to have your own personal beliefs and your own morals, but your job is to do the best that you can by the constitution. I have great respect for Jimmy Carter. I believe his faith in genuine. The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin. "You shall not lie wit a male as one lies with a female. I honestly believe that Jimmy Carter is a good christian man. When I was a kid my parents sort of started to get a divorce but stayed together and remained married until Dad died. Mother took me to a new (Baptist) Church similar to Carters and basically I was forced t deal with an old (to me at the time) woman who was getting a divorce and hated males. This messed me up over sex and marriage and divorce and I am glad my parents stayed together and I enjoyed my family for many years. This church spread rumors apparently that I was a Homosexual or Gay (I am not sure if the terms have different meanings) but at the time I was wholly unaware of the rumors. If I had known about them I probably NOT have participated in some government activities and political youth organizations. I don't think homosexuals should be President. Because I was involved in Politics I will give the two Democrat/Catholic/City Council Members who both became Town Mayor the benefit of the doubt and say that they "investigated" me as potentially being a homosexual. One became mayor as a Republican if we want to get things straight and he only leaned towards Catholicism based on conversations. Since I was not sexually active at the time and had only dated girls a couple of times I thought the investigation (which involved a male at least posing as a homosexual if it was not in fact homosexual) propositioning me in public. I was even told that a US Senator had given permission for us to have sex! In any case to run on my sentences and abuse the English Language I thought the investigation was an attempt to rape me and I had a lot of trouble in College for 3 years until finally I was around someone I could sort of trust with the event. I believe the rumors and involvement of churches and politicians has basically ruined my life. I have had serious difficulty earning a living and rumors that I am Gay or Homosexual or whatever seem to be a part of this. Possibly Carter and his Democrat friends see a way to expand government and government programs and ruin lives like mine with such rumors and ideas. Possibly Carter is a victim himself of what I call the Jeremy Bentham paradox. Carter is a good man and sees the world through good eyes and wants others to be happy perhaps in ways he has never been happy and so he comes up with this sort of idea. But Churches and Politicians in my view and experience have ruined my life with this nonsense and quite honestly to really participate in politics in America you need money and I am simply not that wealthy. Quite honestly I can't vote or even go to church because of the rumors and lies these people circulate. And in the name of Jesus Christ, if Democrats and Republicans did not want me participating in the political process just tell me and I'll leave. I was a good student. I had great math ability. Anyone who is "damaged" "offended" etc. is choosing to be, period. The union itself has no impact on them directly. I would argue more people are damaged by someone entering into a heterosexual marriage, because society would not accept anything else at the time, and ultimately hurting their partner when they accept who they are and leave the relationship. As for the scripture argument, there is plenty of scripture that disagrees with societal norms nowadays. There is scripture stating its ok for us to own a slave(Colossians 3:22, Titus 2:9 etc.), although the USA moved on from that a long time ago.

Carter is confusing in this interview there is a Secular/Religious mix. My mother once tried to divorce my father because she hoped the Baptist Church would kick him out and he would lose his money and income. She hates men because that seems to be what she says. Carter says he and his wife were both virgins when they married and I believe this is the basic reflection of Baptist Church values. His Presidential Library is at Emory University which is a Methodist institution at my last reading and I believe Methodists and all religious institutions would agree that the Union of a Virgin Male and Virgin female was in keeping with church and religious teachings. As for me, mother told me NOT to listen to people in the Baptist Church. So probably I should ignore any POLITICAL stuff Carter says (since he was President) and listen only to God and Jesus Christ. So I should probably ignore the same-sex marriage issue. Personally, I have always acted consistent with what I believe God and Jesus Christ would want me to do. I do not feel guilty for this even though I have not attended church regularly for 40 years. My mother started a rumor - a dishonest lie - about 40 years ago that I wanted to be a Roman Catholic and the Church supported her. I believe they lied along with her as well as accusing me (falsely) of being a Homosexual. I was a normal kid and should have been allowed normal social interactions. I did not know until recently what sodomy was and have never wanted to be involved with sodomy probably because I have had no friends like that. I know a Baptist woman whose Husband "became" gay and her gay husband married another gay man. She may have been rewarded by the church with a new rich husband who owned a farm. But believe me, Roman Catholics are not going to begin interpreting anti-slavery laws in a way that forces them to pay their Priests and Nuns a wage and I would be surprised to learn that Baptists allow racially mixed churches at any time in the future. When Carter EXCLUDES CHURCHES from the Law, I believe that this is a huge exclusion in his view. Even though I have never been a homosexual and don't want to be, there is still discrimination against people who are even rumored to be a homosexual. The Government and Carter have changed nothing with their Rhetoric.

The word in the 2 verses used against homosexuality is NOT the moral sin. Also, the term translated to "as with" means 'bed' every other time it's used in Leviticus but, you know, it's impossible to condemn gay people with a line that actually reads "a man shall not lay with another man on a woman's bed" (Leviticus 15 gives a pretty long list of bed issues seeing there were 3 types back then (ie, a man's, a woman's and the marriage bed)). btw, we know it is suppose to mean 'bed' because when Paul wrote the Corinthians verse used against gay people, the terms translated to mean homosexuality (btw2, 100 years ago it was translated to 'ma$turbation instead, in the 16th century it was pedophilia & in the midieval times it was pimping) he wrote the Greek words to "soft" (as in morals) and "male BED".
