Final Fantasy is one of my favorite series of all time! One thing that really immerses me into the main series is the fantastic music in each game!
Songs in this list are limited to:
~Must be in the main series (Final Fantasy 1 - 14)
~No spin offs (10-2, 13-2, Tactics)
~Must be random/normal encounter music
~No boss themes

I agree 1,000% with your number 1! Blinded By Light is by far the best battle theme and one of my favorite compositions of all time! I arranged it for string quartet for my senior recital during my undergraduate coursework.
FF13 has a godlike battle theme. It’s the best one hands down if you ask me.
I'd take everything after 9 off the list and I forgot how decent III's tracks actually were, but Man With a Machine Gun is still fantastic (even though, I don't think that one was a random encounter track).
@@Velacroixit was a random encounter for Laguna’s segments.
FF8 ... What can I say !!! The words can’t describe how this game was wonderful in all ways.
ff8 for the unique military feel to it
ff9 for the most fantasy intro of them all
ff7 for the industrial vibes
FF9 should be number one, the start is so memorable
FFXIII is indeed great but takes too much time to build up, is more like a signature game intro song. The battles in this FF were longer than usual as well, as progressing in the game, the same song would talk to you like "ok the battle with these 2 frogs will take 5 minutes, and after you're done, prepare for another 2 frogs, tenfold", it was somehow demotivating, making you feel like the last 5 minute-long fight meant nothing and you needed to do it over and over again.
it is nevertheless amazing, yet does not feel like a battle theme but a (fantastic) intro theme.
i have played 8, 10, 13 and i like it!
Say what you want about FFXIII, but god damn that battle theme is so infectious! It's a shame most of the battles are done before the chorus even plays...

Final Fantasy 8s battle theme is too good, it’s got more of a boss battle vibe to it. It’s actually better than some of the other games boss battle themes.
Final Fantasy 9s is good but I didn’t like the fact you had to wait about 15 seconds for the battle to start. Makes it all the more annoying especially when you’re just trying to get somewhere.
Was surprised how good #1 was, never played the game itself but that’s a great battle theme.
My personal favourite is Final Fantasy 6 though, even though it’s not objectively the best piece of music, it’s a great tune and doesn’t get annoying after hearing it hundreds of times

I hated 13 but you can't deny that that game had a GREAT soundtrack. And that battle theme is so infectious. I find myself randomly humming it from time to time.

I guess you might not class it as a "main" FF. But imho, Mystic Quest's battle theme trumps them all.

Oh yeah, I know it's not a random battle but the music from the big dragon thing fight in 12 is awesome. As is the game and whole soundtrack.
