i was fortunate enough to have the chance to run sound for them on warped, and let me tell you..... derek is the best singer in pop punk. You never get a better insight to someones skill level than getting to mix them, and derek is probably the best singer ive ever mixed.... including tyler carter.
Damn good song. My favorite band is The Story So Far, but I think the best voice in the genre goes to Derek. His voice is so diverse and...soulful. It feels weird using that adjective given the kinda music they make, but it's true. State Champs possess the potential to have a career like Yellowcard or New Found Glory. I really hope they make it to that point, and even beyond that. I think their music and talents deserve it.

In my opinion State Champs is definitely not getting the fame and popularity it deserves, its true that the band is relatively young, but COME ON if trashy Disney stars such as Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato can make it big time, I dont understand why a gem like this cant.
