    I’ve been saying it for years now, but the “Point Fraud” is the most overrated player of this entire generation. He’s not an “All-Time Great,” because players with that title have proven capable of getting the job done when it matters most. He’s not a Top-15 PG of All-Time and will only fall further and further down the list as time goes on.

    • @machoboys8884

      Lol what 15 guards do you have over CP3??

    • @youwontlikethistake
      @youwontlikethistake 2 года назад +3

      @@machoboys8884 Everybody has different metrics they use to rank players. My list, which isn’t necessarily in order, focuses on Playoff success, hardware (MVP, DPOY, etc.) and a combination of both. I value the ability to be a consistent team leader in the Playoffs over putting up great regular-season statistics or overall career statistics. Playoff success isn’t defined by rings as much as it is defined by consistently reaching the Conference Finals. Many players don’t win rings, but many have kept their teams in Championship-contention, which I believe finishing your season as a Top 4 team alive fits the description.
      In no particular order: Magic Johnson, Stephen Curry, Isiah Thomas, John Stockton, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Bob Cousy, Walt Frazier, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Tony Parker, Nate Archibald, Chauncey Billups and Kyrie Irving are all PGs that I would take ahead of Chris Paul. I think arguments can also be made for certain players like Lenny Wilkens, Dennis Johnson, Damian Lillard, Mark Jackson, Penny Hardaway, Kyle Lowry and Russell Westbrook, but I won’t definitively say that I would take them over him.
      Every player has fallen short in their careers, but each player that I mentioned has accomplished more than CP3 in the categories that I prioritize.

    • @jordandwiggins1026
      @jordandwiggins1026 2 года назад +3

      He may not be as high as lot of people have him but you are 100% capping if you say you can come up with even ten much less 15 better Point Guards all time. Magic, Steph and Oscar I think are all inarguable. West I consider a Shooting Guard. Isiah, Stockton and Kidd are all pretty arguable but putting anybody else above him is a huge hot take in my eyes. I would say if you really squint I could see Cousy, Nash or Payton being above him but I certainly wouldn’t do so myself. But you need 6 more people beyond that to keep him out of the top 15, and there is no respectable list that has 6 more PGs above Paul.
      -Westbrook? What has he ever done in the playoffs that shows he can do more than CP3? Absolutely nothing.
      -Dame? Maybe if he played with a better team but as it is his defense is such a big liability and never winning 1 game past the second round puts him definitively below CP3 in my eyes, and I’m from Portland.
      -Tony Parker? Putting him above Chris Paul to me is equivalent to putting Klay Thompson over Iverson, rings are not enough to outweigh the gap in leadership and skill.
      -Walt Frazier? His longevity at the highest level is half of Paul’s.
      -Kyrie Irving? Most overrated player in the league right now. Without Lebron he has accomplished literally jack shit, in fact his teams play far better in the playoffs when he’s not playing. He got swept off the floor round 1 alongside Kevin Durant, nothing Chris Paul has done approaches that level of humiliation.
      -Uhhh… I dunno, Tiny Archibald? I’m already running out of possible names here.
      You need to make an argument for 15 of these guys over Chris Paul and there is no way to do that without just being a blind hater. Saying he’s not top 5 PG is arguable, saying he’s not top 10 PG is controversial but not completely unreasonable. Saying he isn’t even top 15 is just laughably obvious troll bait.

    • @youwontlikethistake
      @youwontlikethistake 2 года назад +2

      @@jordandwiggins1026 I respect your opinion and the amount of detail that you put into your response. I made a list, detailed it above and gave my reasoning. If you truly want me to go into detail for each player, I happily will, but my criteria explains why I have them ranked ahead of him.
      It’s not trolling or hating. If I’m a GM, there are close to 20 PGs that I would rather have on my team than Chris Paul if given the option because of his complete inability to perform at a high-level when it matters most. The ultimate goal of the game is to win, and Chris Paul simply can’t.
      You don’t have to agree with it, which is the beauty of sports debates, but I’ll stand by what I’ve said and continue to back it up with based on the criteria I’ve set.

    Too bad that CP3 didn’t ask to be bought out of his contract and join the Mavs when they went on their championship run. Alvin he would have a ring as a member of the second union. Dirk would had more help but CP0 would have to be a part of the garbage time minutes at the end of the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

      (I have him grouped with Nash/Archibald/Westbrook)
      Than after that is Kyrie

      If that was the case than Westbrook (mr. triple double) is easily better than Paul, same with Nash's 2 MVP's which isn't really the case.
      After this series sorry CP3 but you kind of lose points. Point guard is usually the floor general, if you can't get the team started right out of the gate than not sure what to say really.
      (yes, yes. Oh he was injured talk) Than that must mean his team knew about it and were deflated right from the get go.
      *Last year/this year 0 excuse. Specifically last year, the man was up 2-0.....again and couldn't close the deal. Actually same with 1 of the years for the Clippers, and arguably 1 while with Houston.

He repeatedly lost in the first round even when he had Vince Carter. Eventually he wins while being the 6-8th best player on the 2011 Mavs. Kidd didn't have a better career than CP3

      @@AJ-sl7be CP3 - Blown so many leads when his team was clearly the better.....until they lose and than excuses come piling in. Oh you see CP3's team was actually bad yada yada. He had a prime Harden (which I have over Vince Carter) that Clippers team, and now Phoenix.
      So your saying Kidd should have made it to the finals than every year while he was with the Nets if the East was so horribly weak.
      (hmm kind of like how Lebron did, you know the only person to do so in the modern era)
      Also he should have won that MVP when he first came to the Nets, but Duncan got it but anyways.
      *Phoenix's record this year was *64-18* that's pretty much a finals appearance or bust situation (unless serious injuries occur). And yet 1 player absolutely dismantled that whole team. (In 1 half) Nothing that happened in Kidd's career can even come close to anything of that magnitude lol.
      When things go well CP3 was the key, things go bad, not CP3's fault (usually the narrative is injuries)

    2008: it was his playoff debut at 23 years old, going up against the defending champs Spurs with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. Have u ever considered the fact that his teammates played so horribly that the Spurs won simply by stopping CP, the only reliable scoring option on the hornets, from scoring? How is this his fault?
    2013: he played one bad game (game 3) but played amazing in games 5 and 6, dropping 35 and 28 respectively while Griffin got injured and his other teammates didn't show up. How is that his fault? Does one bad game define how he played throughout the entire series?
    2016: him and Blake both got injured in game 4 and cudnt even play for the rest of the series. Why is that counted against him?
    2021: this is most egregious cuz u simply used his averages from games 3-6 to paint your narrative of him choking that series. Yes, he played awful in game 4, but he played up to his standards in game 5 and above his standards in game 6. Did u not account for the fact that it was Booker who had the late-game turnover that cost them game 5 at home, and it was Booker who was a no-show in game 6? Your inability, or rather reluctance, to dive deeper into each game of the series is so painfully obvious that it just makes ur analysis seem biased and incomplete.
    2022: yea he was terrible in games 3-7, but he legit had to carry his team in the 1st round without Booker, having to dominate in 4th quarters of games 1 and 3 to win by less than 11 points and playing a literally perfect game 6 to only win by 6 points by going 14 for 14, bearing in mind he's a 37 YO, 6-foot tall point guard. Booker, who is 25 YO, a 1st team All-NBA member, 5th in MVP voting, and the best scorer on the team, played like garbage in games 6 and 7. Did u miss those details too? CP is by no means blameless due to his turnovers and lack of emotional leadership when his scoring was off, but to blame this solely on a 37 year-old point guard just seems disingenuous.
    There were certainly playoff series which he should take most of the blame, namely 2014 WCSF against the Thunder, but to simply label him a playoff choker without proper context is silly.
