Thank you for this Aaron. I think I’m suffering from a few different mental ailments and I’m SINCERELY trying to change. So I’m here watching and studying this. I’ve been through 4 therapists and I’ve never gotten much help but this video is already heavily effective in my recovery process 🎉 means the world. I’ll keep you updated on my journey. I will be free.
Wow this is so informative, I’ve recently stumbled upon what I think is a case of grandiose delusions and being a regular person (not a doctor) I had no idea how to handle it but this gives me an idea of what I need to do for them (I’m trying to get them medical help too)
Incredibly helpful information. I was starting to feel unstable myself... being told by an unstable person that I WAS the person struggling with mental wellness. DONT worry. I’ve gotten opinions in person as well. Pro help is next fo both of us, :)
A friend of mine is a crack baby. His mom abandoned him and a lady adopted him and a few other kids. We're in our mid 30s now. We recently caught up. He kept saying crazy things such as: he has a time machine, he has traveled through galaxies, he's in black ops, he invented helicopters, he could have prevented covid but he was too late, he has sex with many 18 year olds, he's met god and Jerry Jones should have hired him as head coach (Dallas Cowboys fan).
I’m not a professional or doctor. I just wanted to say that... I know how you feel. You’re not alone. DONT give up but don’t harm yourself in the process. I’d like to recommend looking into a video with Jordan Peterson about helping people . Just typing that should bring it up. This video and that one were incredibly helpful for me. Stay strong.
@@mdarnell514 my brother has grandiose delusions, schizophrenia and just a cluster fuck of different mental illnesses. not to mention he has past trauma in his life and he is eratic. to the point where he hurts us on purpose. it's not just harmless at this point, he will literally make the biggest scene you can imagine in public places. you honestly can't imagine the things my family has to go through. worst of all he is stubborn. wants no help. idk what to do cause hes my older bro that i used to idolize and this is beyond crushing. we've done everything we can to help him but he doesn't care. he's given up on life. and you guys don't even know HOW CRAZY HE GETS. petty, disrespectful, loud, embarrassing, manipulative , and has no shame in anything he does. it pains me to say it but it is the truth. idk what i can do. idk how to solve it. idk how much longer i have to keep watch over him so he doesn't leave and do drugs. this is beyond a nightmare cause i can't just let go of my big brother. this is a cry for help
But this is extreem. There are people who have those illusions but not so extreem. Like guy who’s 2 but thinks he’s 9, or guy who thinks he’s the smartest. I’m more interested in those cases.
Hello Woops. I can only speak theoretically and not clinically about a specific person. Grandiose delusions work as a delusion to meet a meaning. However persecutory delusions act more as unfounded threat beliefs (Freeman). They have 5 identified contributory causal factors, worry, self-confidence, anomalous experiences and sleep disruptions. Each of these can maintain and drive the fear of others.
What about a truly malignant narcissist that sets out to literally destroy those around him and then self soothes by declaring himself superior to all while continuing the vicious attacks? What if that creature co parents young children and the courts, CPS, outrageously expensive lawyers etc do nothing substantial because this society protects the mentally ill, the criminal etc?
This sounds so distressing. I am speaking directly to one presentation, grandiosity, and your experience sounds horrible. It is likely a different problem that person has.
All narcissists have grandiose delusions but they are of a different kind. Typical is abusing people for years and then guilting them (kids often) as if the abuser is the victim and gets rageful when the victims and other don't admire the narcissist. I'd say that is delusional but goes under stunted emotional development, like Donald Trump as a public example. This video touches more psychotic-type delusions.

Interesting question. Not sure how to respond. My videos are targeting those with these problems. Might be the same mechanism.
Keep uploading videos this is great stuff thank you
More to come!
What kind of needs might be met by persecutory or jealous delusions? Thanks for the video, it’s helpful as a family member
