OMG! Long time no Asian at Home!! It's finally here with Be's special recipe, Bun Rieu!! (Written Recipe -> seonkyounglongest.com/bun-rieu/) This is the last video I filmed in my previous kitchen! If you guys didn't watch my "Life Update" Live video, (ruclips.net/video/DNLcEhPPWfk/видео.html) you probably don't know that we moved!! WHOOTWHOOT! Next video will be in the new kitchen, can't wait to share with you!! Love you!!
Seonkyoung Longest- it’s so lovely your Vietnamese friend came over made a video with you and can’t even taste because of her allergy. You guys have so much fun!!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I made it twice! Be’s recipe is a keeper! Omg…so delicious! Thank you Seonkyoung for having Be on your channel! You ladies are fun to watch… 🤗
"i feel like everything is always better the next day" this is what chefs say bc after we slaved over cooking it- its ok, we can taste all the flaws but the next day when we reheat it and its not too much prep ITS AMAZING
You can cook bun rieu without crab. My hometown is Bac Lieu, our bun rieu normally does not contain crab, but we have sliced pork knuckle as the star of the dish, and we also add fried garlic as garnish. I grew up eating this version of bun rieu so I prefer it, but the version with crab is also very tasty to me.
Looks amazingly delicious!! I didn’t know Vietnamese food uses perilla leaves too (besides Japanese and Korean food). Do Vietnamese grocery stores sell them too? I really enjoy watching you two cook! Now I wish I can eat that bowl... 😍🤤😋🙌👌
Vietnamese grocery stores definitely sell perilla leaves. They are essential to the Vietnamese herb mix that is served alongside meat dishes or noodle soups
Really? I've never seen Perilla leaves in Chinese grocery stores or in Chinese dishes before. A lot of people ask me where to find Perilla leaves (shiso) and I always say Korean or Japanese grocery stores. I'm so happy to find that Vietnamese grocery stores have them.
I’ve been married for 20 years with my babies husband I always wanted to cook the soup for him and surprise him so I did and I was watching you guys it was so much fun watching you and I learned so much learning how to cook this that yesterday it was my first time cooking crab soup and he was in love with me again he can’t believe I cook the soup and I say well I had two wonderful women teaching me how to cook this it was you guys
Cooking show should all be this fun and international, it is amazing to see how food can bring everyone from all backgrounds together, white, black, yellow, green. or whatever, just come together and share..lovely show, beautiful ladies. love it
Elly Duong I know, Be’s recipe is not from the original recipe for bún riêu which is all crabs, but it still looks good. The “rieu” floating on top is suppose to be from grinding lots of small tender crabs in shells and extract all the flavor and meat to make the balls floating in soup. A delicious non meat soup, light and delicate dish. Wonderful soup on a cold day huh?
Finally!! 😄👏👏👏👏👏👏Welcome back its been a while since I've seen you do an episode of Asian at home! These are always entertaining to me and cool to watch with my wife! I'm a happy person now! Please keep them coming! I might need a caution wet floor cone from me drooling watching u ladies make this meal.😳 Shout out to the chef ! WOW! This looks amazing! God bless and thank you for sharing!! SY! #🙏Blessings🙏2You&Jacob!!!!!!
Please do more videos with Be. All of her recipes are amazinggg. Yours are also amazing Seonkyoung like literally none of your recipe have ever failed me
What a talented chef! And such a charming hostess, too. I enjoyed watching this. Now I know how to cook bun rieu. They make it look so easy and not complicated at all.
Bé, you can make Bun rieu with small adjustment 1 bag soaked dried shrimp, 2 pounds of peeled fresh shrimp and 6 eggs grinds in food processor with 2 cups water , one jar of shrimp paste in soya oil instead of crab since you’re allergic to crab, the ground pork. Omit the crab piece. Taste just as delicious and wonderful. You can add crab pieces into bowls for people who are not allergic to crabs.
I am so excited Be is back for another Bun dish! I made the Bun Bo Hue from the other video she did with you and it turned out FANTASTIC! My family raved about it and said it’s the best they’ve had and we are Vietnamese so we eat it all the time from different sources. This Bun Rieu is another dish that we eat all the time, so i am super excited to try out. You girls are so fun to watch!
Original recipe is a non meat dish, usually prepared in Lent season. It has fresh crabs meat, crabs meat paste in red oil (in jar), tomatoes, fried tofu, finely grinds fresh shrimp mixed with beaten eggs to form into balls then cooked in broth and seasoned with crab paste(salted grind crab meat) and fish sauce. This is a light tasting broth but full of flavor 😋. It’s really expensive cooking this way. We eat this soup with lots of fresh herbs, garlic chives and bean sprouts. Some families used pork ribs as a fillers to feed a crowd. Every family recipe varies a little bit, some people added pork blood which is not in original recipe. In my opinion it doesn’t goes well in this dish, some are terrified of the ideas of eating pork blood. I see some restaurant added pork blood into this dish (looks like a cubed soft brown block). You can asked without pork blood or scoops it out. Be’s recipe looks good.
This is my daughter's usual order when we go to Vietnamese restaurant. She always say she's going to get something else next time but end up ordering it again lol. Can't wait to make this! So yummy!
I’m sorry, but the “what” at 8:17 caught me off guard and took me all the way out 😂😂 That’s some funny editing. Great video ! I’m gonna try to make this recipe this weekend 😊
Hi Seonkyoung, just want to let you know the bun rieu is super yummy! even my picky sister loved! thank you and your friend too for her generous spirit on sharing such DELISH recipe !🙏🙏🙏🙏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷. this recipe is a keeper! 😁
OMG so happy to watch you cook our Vietnamese dish which I also love to eat so much in Vietnam before. Since I’m here I just cook all for enjoying & great to watch this video.
That looks so delicious. I love trying new things and I've never heard of this soup so I'll be on the hunt. The chemistry between you two in the kitchen is fun
I’m so glad Bee had her bun bo hue standing by at the end! That must be such torture cooking that delicious pot and not eating. This looks amazing and so easy! Can’t wait to try! And your face when you ate the meat/crab ball omg I drooled even more haha
my favorite my favorite part is when you went all mukbang on the bowl near the end 😂 could definitely see the appreciation for all the flavors.😂 thanks yall imma make a pot now ❤
This is my all time favorite dish! I love it when you make Vietnamese food! So happy to see you making it with Be! Looks delish! Can’t wait to see Asian at Home in your new kitchen
I am SUPER excited to give this a try!!! I have made Bún bò Huế a few times now after watching that video (which was so dang fun to watch! Be, I love you!). I made it before tasting it from a restaurant. So, when I finally tasted at an authentic restaurant, and my Bún bò Huế tasted the same (better actually, way better, more rich and deep in flavor), I did a happy food dance and felt so accomplished! So, yea, excited to try this and love it! :D
That looks sooooooo good. I was missing my mom's bun, especially since this quarantine hits. She told me to just google this video and add blood cake. lol.
You both are so bubbly. It’s very energetic and fun to watch. Love it. Please keep up the works. Oh, can’t go wrong with your awesome dish of BÚN RIÊU!!!! Thanks.
Me and my boyfriend looooove watching your videos and getting ideas to cook Asian At Home! Would you wanna maybe try a homemade Shin Yum Ramyun recipe? It's our favorite! I usually out a little fancy twist on the package but would love to learn to do it from SCRATCH
This is one of my favorite dishes...I have Very Fond & Precious memories of preparing this dish with my Mommy, when I was little...Thank you for sharing! 👍😁💋
I love this dish too. My mom usually doesn't make it, but we just eat it right across the street from a food vendor. I didn't know that a lot of people who are not Vietnamese would have tried this dish before, since it's not as well known as Pho.
I would de interested to know what your grocery bill was for this and how many servings you got. Love the crab paste you used from thai land can’t wait to make a soup with it.
The first time i saw Bun Bo Hue Video, i was like: omg that's what i want. Now another vietnamese noodles soup that i love so much 😍😍 Thanks so muchhhh
This looks really good but it's a lot for 4--6 people even with leftover. What would be the portion of liquid if I didn't want to make that much bun rieu? Any suggestions? I want to try to make it but not I don't want it to be to salty as well.

That and the fact that the flavor gets obsorb.

This looks really good but it's a lot for 4--6 people even with leftover. What would be the portion of liquid if I didn't want to make that much bun rieu? Any suggestions? I want to try to make it but not I don't want it to be to salty as well.
