I make paper flowers a lot. It still blows my mind at how much crêpe paper sheets are. Here’s a little tip that will save you money. I go to the Dollar Tree or really anywhere. I buy tissue paper that goes and gift bags. Try that out the next time you do this.

You asked for suggestions on how to make flowers. My suggestion is using Watercolor paper, you can cut and form it into any shape. I cut the petals out of watercolor paper and then paint them, then glue them together with hot glue. I make a lot of 3d art using watercolor paper, it's sturdy and flexible. ❤❤❤ Love this video, you had me laughing so much with the "forbidden posgedios 😅"

YES! I am not into her style at all. Some of it actively bothers me. (E.g., I physically shudder away from Clowncore and chokers/short necklaces. Nooooo!! Away! Away! *hisses and makes a finger cross*) However, by watching her shop for and apply her style, I've learned and put into practice looking at thrift store items in news ways, as new opportunities. Kathleen's style has opened my eyes to better expressing my own style and even exploring and expanding what I want my style to be. Also, I appreciate the wild nerve of her style, her unabashed her-ness. There's a lot to learn from how powerfully she claims and expresses her style, the sheer cussedness of her I-like-it-It-makes-me-feel-good-I'm-wearing-it self-expression. My favorite part is how she looks at pieces as canvases that need art added. (Also, it's just plain fun watching her joyfully fling herself into a rack of vintage 80s dresses.)

2001-i was a junior in high school and our choir director chose a disney theme for the spring concert. as tradition dictated, all graduating seniors were to choose a solo song as their last goodbye. a very shy girl asked me to sing golden afternoon as a duet with her. she dressed as Alice and i dressed as a pink rose. i wound my long hair around a 2 liter soda bottle and sprayed it pink. i had a skirt of leaves, green top, wristlets, the whole deal. and i sewed it without help at 16 years old. this video brought back happy memories from 20+ years ago :)

Ok for crepe paper flowers: liquid starch as a stiffener AFTER you have the shape you want. For the curve it involves smoothing out the wrinkles in the paper to kind of manipulate it into the shape you want (then you can liquid starch it! I think it gets diluted but I’m not sure by how much)

When my sister had her baby shower both a co-worker of hers and myself crocheted her the same llama. She opened her co-workers first and I accidentally blurted out the name of the pattern and her co-worker instantly knew what had happened. We made them with different colors and a few deviations so they aren't an identical set but it was pretty funny.

I worked on a community art project where we made flowers from special lantern paper that you shape and then add glue to and when it dries it’s super sturdy. We used wire to create the overall shape and then applied layers of the paper. I don’t remember colouring the paper but they were dyed using coloured wax and they turned out so dramatic. Not as soft as you probably would have liked but maybe give that lantern paper a go. I think it was from Amazon. Cute video as usual xxx

Hi, Kathleen. I was one of your many subscribers who made a donation to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund through the link you provided several months ago, where your work matched our donations 100%. You helped raise a lot of money. :) Please consider encouraging your viewers to Google alternatives to buying Squishmellows. The Squishmellow company is owned by Jazwares, who donates money to the IDF and supports charities that donate to Israeli soldiers. This is only a comment to spread awareness about a Zionist company that endorses and promotes genocide against the Palestinian people. Being an ally to marginalized groups is one of the most incredible things we can do as human beings. Thanks for your excellent content.

Another alternative to the Squishables (very cute and new to me!) are independent crocheters making squishies, my SIL made a pusheen for me, and then I gave that to my 6 y-o niece since she loved it when she saw it at my house. Since my sil showed me that she could do it with minimal education, I've found so many more creators on insta/tik tok!

Japanese 1960’s /70’s ikebana paper flowers were super good, I always thrift old craft books for this sort of stuff. The book I have is an Ondori publication called Fancy paper flowers, pretty complex but I made more simple for my sanity 😅 and had fun. Booktopia is an online possibility also. You can double layer the crepe paper with spray adhesive with the grain running the same way to stiffen it while still being able to stretch the paper for a frilly edge. Tissue paper is good for carnations and so on. Newsagents in Australia have crepe paper much cheaper than art supplies shops, maybe the same with you?

I want to share a tip. There are different types of thickness of crepe paper, which I didnt know about when I started X"D. The thick type is easiest to make big flowers with. Thats because the thick crepe paper is just holding the shape better when you strech it and manipulate it. I was lucky enough and the first crepe paper I encountered was thick. I think it would be harder but not impossible to make big flowers with a thin one. Your flowers are great Kathleen!!!

Stickii does a ton of stickers really similar to those washi stickers! We used to carry them at the shop I worked for

I enjoy how you weave book talk into your videos. Here are 2 for the recommendations pile:
I just finished A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell and HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. (Trigger Warning: Nazis, torture) Everyone should know the story of Virginia Hall, an astounding hero. My new mantra when facing something I know is going to hurt and wear me down is, "I'm gonna Virginia Hall this shit!" because the story of Cuthbert and the Pyrenees struck me so vividly.
Currently reading The Secret History of Sharks by John Long and savoring every page. This book is high quality geekery, and I appreciate the author's spirited fascination with the subject.

I didn’t craft along but I had breakfast with this on. I think I’m feeling motivated to get stuff I’ve been procrastinating done today, if I don’t spend the day flat on the floor because of the heat

I've just spent the morning/early afternoon running around with my son, doing last minute back to school shopping. We have haircuts in an hour. I'm poooooooped already- gonna have to suck it up for the last push. Love the flowers!!

Using cloth and putting some wire inside would have been cute as well! But all in all such a cute idea, I might do some of these huge flowers for my room makeover! 🥰

I still have a small bouquet of paper flowers that were a gift from my aunt years ago! They are origami flowers that she purchased from a local craft-maker.
