    That is rad man. Great job! It took me one summer of driving when I was 15 to put my snorkel back on(I gutted under my hood of my elcamino to look like a show car instead of a driving car.

      @@wolfwengler do you notice any fuel efficiency improvement or horse power (even minor)? I've been flirting with the idea of making my own cow induction box 😂

      @@bluebook6312 I don't know about fuel efficiency but yes, power is certainly up. I think it's 1% for every 10 degrees. Going from 160 under the hood to 80 degrees ambient air is something like 8% more power.

      @@wolfwengler have you driven in the rain with this set up? I'm wondering if you could make a secondary air inlet that would open from a electric or vacuum switch. For when it does rain heavily. Really nice and cool system.

      @@Scooty_scoob It will drown itself if I leave it all hooked up!! but with the two 4-inch hoses pulled off it drains fine. I was in a heavy Florida downpour and I know. Even when I wash the car, I pull the hoses off. I have also thought about a drain gate... but... I dont get in the rain that much.

    are the 2 side inlets necessary, I 'd think the center section would provide plenty of flow? Very cool air pan!

    • @wolfwengler
      @wolfwengler  3 месяца назад

      Yes they are, because in the rain I have to stuff a towel in the center! (but probably not!)

    Trans am shaker scoops have a flush nipple at the front of the airbox base with a 1/2 inch I/D rubber hose running down the side of the engine even though the back of the scoop is not cut out . I guess they figured people would cut out the back of scoop to make it functional . Perhaps this would help .

      The air pressure doesn't really help until you're over 125mph but the increase from reduction in inlet temperature from fresh air outside the engine compartment is a big deal.

    Hi! Nice project! What about water ingress?

    • @wolfwengler
      @wolfwengler  5 месяцев назад

      Water is a problem. In heavy rain I have to pull the hoses off and stick a towel in the center hole!

    Great idea. Did you make the airbox from scratch or modify an existing piece, if so what piece did you start with?

    • @wolfwengler
      @wolfwengler  2 года назад +2

      I started with a ready made, dropped air cleaner base plate. Then I made a cardboard version that I taped together, all attached to the base. Then I took the tape off, transferred the pieces to aluminum (much put-together-take-apart in this process!)and tig welded it together, I sanded it , shined it up, mostly with semi chrome. It's really all simple shapes and bends.
