Hey, thank you for covering my maps in this video! Was very interesting to watch. Out of the 3 maps I'd say I like The Golden City the least partly for the reasons you mentioned. I wasn't in very good mood when I made most of the map, and I think it shows in a lot of areas. The last encounter of Saving Johnson used to be a lot easier funnily enough, but a friend of mine thought it was a bit of anti climax, so I made it a lot harder haha. Might look into rebalancing a bit for some update at some point. Also planning on nerfing the AR a bit across all maps, but at least I accomplished my goal for getting people to actually use the AR! Glad you liked the Brute changes! Always really enjoyed the Brutes in 3, but I know some people thought they weren't 'brutal' enough. I tried to keep the aspects I enjoyed, while also making them tougher. Mainly by tweaking their AI to be more aggressive, but also more defensive when they're being shot at. I'm really happy with how it turned out in the end. I hope more people start making custom geometry mods in the future. There unfortunately aren't a whole lot of them in the workshop currently. Nothing against other types of mods of course.
It is a shame there aren't more custom geo mods, but it does means the ones that do exist will stand out more. Hopefully that'll be enough to motivate me to continue working on the one I was building, lol.
It'll be exciting to see what custom maps others can make once more people learn the tools. Especially with the Reach and 4 tools being out, it'll be cool as hell to see what people can do with the higher polycounts, better scripting functionality, and H2A's PBR support. It's just a shame how intimidating Halo's toolset can be to new modders that often get scared away from trying to create and import their own maps.
Hey Skurly, absolutely love your mods, they're the kind of thing that I dreamed about being to play when I was a kid, more levels for Halo 3. Top notch stuff.
of Skurly's levels, I think Extraction Point is the strongest. You can tell Skurly took feedback from the past 2 levels to heart and made improvements. Kashiiera's remaster is coming along great. I hope that in the future she can replace the dorky Halo 3 elite voices with the awesome deepvoiced ones of Halo 2 (the variant that's more consistent with Arby/Halfjaw/Heretic Leader)
It's cool, and we honestly wonder if someone ported or enhance teh elites to play just as aggressive and in CE. Might be a lot more work, but hey, that will make them interesting to fight them again.
Honestly with you there on CE Anniversary. It was major missed opportunity to add to the existing game. Ideally, I would've had CEA consist of three parts: -the classic, unaltered game we all know and love -classic anniversary with updated graphics but none of the new content and playing like the original (more or less how CEA actually turned out) -the true Anniversary which actually adds little elements from later Halo games like vehicle boarding I'm looking forward to seeing Kashiiera's finished work! Also wouldn't mind a Reach edition of CE.
I agree with most of your assessment and honestly Halo 3's style and lighting make it one of the best looking Halo games in the series in my opinion. The one major exception to this in my opinion are the hunchback Elites. The Elites in CE were tall and fearsome fighters that were sleek but strong. In Halo 3 they look far too bulky for my taste. We begin to see the hunch in Halo 2 as they try to get the Elite model to be comparable in size to the Spartans for multiplayer balance but I believe this brought with it a visual detriment to how they look in the games overall.
Very much happy with the fact that we can play things like these so easily now, and also happy that you're covering them. Looking forward to what else you have to show us in the future!
I actually did think some of the light bloom in H3:CE was still just a bit too intense, akin to some of the light bloom effects in Halo 4. Especially when you're additionally holding weapons that have brightly glowing parts on them, but that's more of a personal preference
I commented about the elites animations and also voice lines on the last Kashiiers video, the elite dialogue from CE is on the list of things to do and the animations is a maybe since apparently porting animations from CE doesnt work well/or something to that extent. I love the the brutes have the halo 2 animations for charging in that other mod, i would love to see someones or myself in 100 years make a halo 3 /reach mod with all the enemy animations from the bungie games as heirachy for covie. Ie having halo CE elites the standard elites and gold sword elites (they were so fun to fight why was that never brought back idfk) and having halo reachs unfair fast meleeing elites as the upper echelion/more rare ecounters. (Add energy knifes to visually justify the fast melee or soemthing) Sa.e thing with jackels and grunts, having latter halo 2s more restistant and fast recovering as higher ranks and halo CE as general purpose. So you still get that halo dance enough to break it up and make some enemies make you sit up bit and focus more.
Played H3:E Keyes today, honestly felt strongly off from CE with the H3 flood, the number of infection forms was utterly ridiculous meaning the enemy count basically doubles when they start taking bodies, something the level design doesnt account for. It was very cool, but feel-tweaking is needed to make it flow better
A Covenant mess hall, particularly the grunt mess hall, featuring the food nipple. If you're going to remake Halo levels, particularly Covenant levels, then it would help to have similar thought put into standard biological activities, and armories for that matter, for the Covenant as they do for the Pillar of Autumn, or the Exodus/Winter Contingency levels in Reach. I wonder if the Flood would make a beeline for the cafeteria. Or if the Covenant have pets aboard; I know those Grunts hold on to toys.
Does anyone know how to fix dysync at all? Me and a buddy who litterally lives like 5 blocks down tried playing Combat Revolved, but after PoA had massive dysync where I was looking at a completely different thing on my screen compared to his, and then the game crashed when we exited
2:30 hunters were designed to be mini boss fights and they serve that role well. They're not meant to be made trivial encounters, which is exactly what they are in Skurly's mod. How is fighting what is essentially a buffed, slow brute fun? It only makes the game more repetitive. Hunters change the dynamic entirely in the original games. Now they don't. You just rinsed through them in that clip like they're minor elites.
The elite AI in Halo 3: CE are not the Halo 3 elites. They're custom AI that she made herself. People keep echoing the same point and it's just not accurate.
Mmh, those changes the balance too much in my opinion. I like my moded map like i prefer my Doom maps, new and innovative but with native stats and ressources. Just rely on enemy and ressources placement and gimmick progression here and there.
Incorrect. Fuel Rod is in the CE Campaign, but unusable, and can be used in the Gearbox port of CE's multiplayer. The Flamethrower is in the original Xbox version's game files, but was cut from the game, and then reintroduced as a usable weapon in the Gearbox port's multiplayer.
3:35 I mean come on... the AR might as well be a BR at this point. How is making every gun more similar to each other in effect a GOOD change? How boring. The intended use of the AR is as a close range infantry mop. It's not meant to be a midrange rifle that drops shielded enemies in a second.
I don't know why people are so obsessed with Halo 3. Where are the maps for CE, 2 and Reach? I'm also tired of the constant weapon and enemy rebalancing. Everyone seems to think they can do balancing better than Bungie then never fail to turn Legendary into a cakewalk by making every weapon almost equally powerful in all situations, thereby completely missing the point. There's little wrong with the original sandbox. You just don't know how to build maps around it or suck at the game. I love Skurly's maps and he's singehandedly making Workshop worth it for me, but the Assault Rifle on the Johnson map in particular is hilariously overpowered. I always use the Assault Rifle in CE and 3. I really don't understand how turning brutes into trivial encounters when holding the gun is better than it serving its role as a grunt and jackal mop - a role it serves perfectly by default. It's not SUPPOSED to be used against tougher enemies, and the reason why is obvious when playing these maps. It makes the game pitifully easy on Legendary. That's why the snipers, shotguns, grenades, rockets, etc. etc. exist. This isn't Call of Duty. Halo was always based on oldschool FPS and that's what kept it unique throughout the modern military era of shooters. Play some Quake and DOOM and maybe then people will realise what Halo's trying to do (to an obviously broader level). I also think the CE remake plays terribly at this point and I find the hyperbolic praise of people saying it looks better than CEA absolutely hilarious. It's flat and ugly and looks incredibly amateur -- because it is. I hope the author doesn't see this because I don't want to put her work down - it's not a shot at her - but I just think the comments of praise are absurd and I question why so much effort is being put into a massively inferior version of CE when she could be making amazing new missions. It will never even come close to CEA or the original graphics. All that being said, the custom campaign missions are why I'm so excited for the Workshop. Unfortunately, very few people seem to be making them and almost all of them are making the same mistakes.
@@TheGreatAukGaming he also made unprovoked HiddenXperia mockery videos (apparently the animation has been deleted. Basically he mocked the accent and in MeatCanyon style depicted Xperia as a fat prophet). I unsubscribed a year or so ago when that video went up.

I just hope the CE mod ends up using entirely CE assets/remakes of CE assets in the future. The mix-matched models from different games is jarring
Agreed. Would much rather see a consistent model and animation quality within the sandbox
