Whew! I remember when my cousin used to run this record! The good old days when cousins were just a little bit closer. For unknown reasons after years of sharing food, music and laughter she simply stopped speaking to the whole family, but this reminds me so much of her and the good times we had.
Right On! They performed this on American Bandstand when it was still in Philadelphia, PA. In The UK when Tears For Fears were starting out, they used Bill Doggett's Version as background music on a TV Show they were being interviewed on. In The UK, Motown, Chess & Philly Soul has gained Cult Status.
When I was a Kid I first heard on a Record Player. : - D. I remember seeing James Face on The Label and I thought he "Owned" Polydor and I thought Abba worked for him. (Ha! Ha!). Alot of amazing Artists came from Polydor. Him, The Bee Gees, Abba, and the Late Andy Gibb (RIP) not to mention the fact that Robert Stigwood's RSO Records was distributed through Polydor. They own the rights to The Soundtracks Of Saturday Night Fever & Grease which are still the two most successful Soundtrack Albums of all time. In 1987 Polydor Bought Motown Records for 88 Million Dollars and they would later sell it to MCA/Universal for over 300 Million Dollars. In the UK there's still a Polydor Records who in 2002 signed Girls Aloud the most successful Group to come out of Reality TV in the UK with 21 Top Tens, 4 Number Ones, and 6 Platinum Albums. Another fun fact was that as many of you know it was originally done by Bill Doggett who in 1957 performed on American bandstand in October 1957. When The UK Pop Duo Tears For Fears were interviewed on a UK Music Show they played Bill Dogget's Version.
The original is from 1956. When was this done? The Beach Boys also did it as surf guitar blues on their 2nd album in 1963. All 3 are in my Beach Boys covers and covered playlist. Thanks a lot for the upload!
This must be a session when the band was tired on the road, and James stopped somewhere to record. The sax man hit many missed notes. (hope it wasn't Maceo) James was known to do that.

What a groove! One oj JB's most relaxed classics
It doesn't get much more funky than this
