- Manchester to Blackpool for £1! (16/09/23). I got myself a £1 ticket in Northern's flash ticket sale which took me for a day out in sunny Blackpool :).

It's ridiculous that such trains are regularly cancelled. Northern really need more trains and/or staff.
I've never actually been to Blackpool, as I'm from the north east so we rarely went across to the north west and instead went to places nearer to us (although we still went down to Devon and Cornwall on holiday every year...)
I can always tell when you've got a new video coming very soon, as you always react to comments on your previous video presumably as the new video uploads. Lol

I also took advantage of the Northern sale with Blackpool as well, when you got to spot buses in Blackpool before they go electric, you got to spot buses

Loved this vlog so much. Arriving in Blackpool at 9 am, reminded me of the days I used travel to Kent and Sussex seasides early morning, go for a paddle, walk along the prom. And just like you Fish 'n' Chips were a must. I am glad I subscribed to your channel. The best thing I ever did. If it is a gloomy day outside, or I am feeling a little bit blue, watching/rewatching your vlogs are enough to brighten my day and put a smile on my face. Superb work G, Ray xx
amazing stuff its amazing to see my fav seaside town Blackpool again as always i went to Blackpool last Monday while i was up in the North West & i love going to Blackpool & i enjoy seeing the ilimations at the end & i only saw 1 lit up tram anoying thing was it was wet for the first 30 mins while i was there & it was windy aswell anyway brilliant work from both you & lucy awesome vlog

Brilliant video G, nice to see that you and Lucy did this on my birthday as well, I was at the Severn valley railway for their autumn steam gala on that day. It's a shame I missed out on the flash sale, I had plenty of other stuff booked for September. Blackpool is a brilliant place to visit, trust me that sea is cold. Lol I didn't even realise knickers was mentioned on the comedy carpet, I think I missed that, I'll have to check when I next go. :)

If you’d gone there in 1964 Blackpool Central station would have been where Coral Island is now. Just one part of the station survived until a few years ago - the toilet block.
What could be better a day out in Blackpool no wind sun out and no rain, perfect and all for a pound looked like a great day finished off with fish and chips my favourite meal great video 👍👍✅✅

Fab to see you both having fun at the seaside, talking of Blackpool Tower , maybe you’ll be on Strictly one day. Hmmm? I travelled to Blackpool last year, to see the Tower Ballroom (yes I’m a Strictly fan) but I did the Blackpool Rounder. So Preston to Blackpool South , bus into Blackpool then walked to North afterwards. Keeeeo train-img!

If you want cold go paddle at Saltburn by the Sea on the Tees Valley Line and go paddle in the sea. So cold it hurts - even in summer it feels like your feet are in a vice. It is the North Sea and is fed directly from the melting North Pole ice cap though these days with added raw sewage
The sea at Blackpool is so dirty you can't swim in it.
You just have to go through the motions 😂
One thing I have learnt watching your videos is that a lot of trains get cancelled in the UK! Great video, great to see Blackpool! Keep the videos coming 😊👍 thank you ☺️

Last time I went Blackpool by train it had a class 31 pulling the train.....and the water was so dirty you had to avoid the spray off the sea....

Managed to get a £1 ticket for the full Cumbrian Coast line in that same sale, great stuff.
Great blog. You treated Blackpool exactly as it should be. A fun relaxing place with its warts and all. So may nit pickers give it bad reviews but you have done it a great service. I have also done that route many times om my trips up from Swansea via the 'Harry Potter Platform' at Mac Picc. Never for £2 though! 🙂 Many thanks.

Direct trains from Manchester Victoria to Holyhead (or from Piccadilly, just not from platform 13 & 14) is what I’m really after, to make going home on SailRail to Ireland easier - TfW have tiny trains on the route rather than using their Mk 4 loco-hauled set all the way from Manchester to Holyhead without having to change at Chester - changing trains drives me insane, especially if the connection times are tight at Chester and/or if there are any delays - I’ve often just jumped on an earlier Northern to Chester and/or an earlier Avanti out of Chester to Holyhead so that I don’t miss the check-in for Irish Ferries at Holyhead

Hi G, nice to see you and your other half out together, A day out to Blackpool For £2 return sounds like a bargain to me, love the fact that you equate a blob of sand on your shoe to diarrhoea (must be a Northern thing!!), anyway onto nicer things, the 'fish' and chips looked delicious, looks like the two of you had a good time. Well I have to say that it does seem cheap and descent. £1 to travel from Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool North is quite a bargain. Still keep on making more amazing videos G. 😊

1 quid. great value. I recall decades ago here in the south east the railway services did super cheap or free travel locally for a day - a Train from High Brooms to Hastings was dangerously overloaded with people - sardines
the tram at Blackpool would be an obvious time killer - Im only part way through the video so maybe thats what youd do

If ever you are staying in Blackpool, Blackpool Heritage Trams do a Fish & Chips Tram Tour (currently on Tuesdays and Fridays evenings) where everyone on board receives a meal from Papas (a choice of Haddock & Chips, Sausage & Chips or Pie & Chips) as well as a tour of the Promenade by tram. At £12 a ticket, it is good value. I mean you pay that just for the meal in some places. Edit: can't remember if Vegan options are available. They more than likely are.

I am from Middleton Nth Manchester - worked there and we had a boss who drove in from Chorley but on Xmas pee-up night from the office he took the train in and home - fell asleep and ended up at Blackpool Nth.
He rang his wife to ask her to pick him up....... and she said no. They were divorced within a year. I do not blame the train for this ha ha ha

I plan to go to Blackpool I don't know when, whenever my parents go to Blackpool they take forever driving up there, so I plan to get a train up there and beat them up there 😂
Also if you want to try some good vegan fish and chips I also recommend the no catch down in Brighton, its just opposite the i360 tower

Brilliant film as always G. The first time I went to Blackpool I was with my eldest son who was then about 11. A guy fell out of a pub and tried to pick a fight with me. The next time I went there, also with my son, we went into a cafe and asked for some toast, only to be told they didn't have any bread. You can keep it, shit hole. Your film was as excellent as always though.
Brilliant how these tickets are only available online and not at ticket offices. Basically dangling the carrot of a £1 ticket to train the public to purchase online and through apps, whilst distorting the sale counts between online and ticket offices. All so they can justify their plans to close them all.

You are proving that ‘levelling up has already happened, helped by the train operating companies. You are just as likely to find your train cancelled from Margate, as Manchester or Middlesbrough = levelling up 😂…surprised you didn’t go on ‘the big one or Valhalla. 🚂🚴♂️👣🇺🇦
