Ffx was my first game outside what my parents allowed. Growing up and not being allowed to watch Harry Potter because witchcraft was straight from the devil and hearing my mother talk about my friends parents leading them to hell because the games and movies they where exposed to. I was 14 and never strayed away from what my parents taught until one night when I was out late with my church friends and saw ffx for sale cheap, 20$ so I bought it. I hid it away and only played at night when I was meant to be asleep. I tie that experience with some guilt from that time but this game showed me that I never believed in my families religion. I cried several times playing and found that I believed in these characters more than god. This game opened the door to thinking freely and forming my own thoughts.
The story of FFX is a powerfully thought compelling tale, but more than that, it’s a wake up call to the unwavering of beliefs. I just finished this game for the first time yesterday and I’m still processing all the lore and themes it touched on, specifically the defiance and skepticism of religion ❤ Your video adds to this fantastical world of Spira 🎉
Even when I was little I questioned a lot of teachings in the sect of Christianity I was raised in. I’m agnostic / atheist now but back even back then I could see the cracks. Even though I’ve never played any of the FF games, your explanation of the theming in this one has me pretty intrigued. Side note about this game, I’ve always admired the art style and character designs of FFX, it balances realism and cartoony really well and I’m impressed at how well the visuals hold up.
It's funny, a lot of my former classmates in that Catholic school are now atheist or agnostic too. Crazy how that happens... Yeah I love the look of FFX! Holds up damn well. Thank you for watching.
I could definitely lose my religion in final fantasy! With each new video you come out with Im always blown away about the way you make them always feel like I’m right there in the game, or at the developer team’s office meetings bringing the game together. Also take me back to this era.
FFX probably my 2nd fav! That South Pacific island setting and very different structure is such a breath of fresh air from the PS1 entries. The uniqueness of every FF makes each so much more memorable.
I really hope you take the time to tie in the sequel to your commentary videos as it really isn’t as girly and shallow as most make it seem, and it continues the story of Tidus and Yuna gracefully ❤

Amazing story. The power of fiction can’t be understated.
Algorithm served me this and I appreciate it
This was so good! Explored a lot of feelings I've been wrestling with for my whole life
Thanks for watching!

Exactly! I miss courage Square had with the early Final Fantasy games. Each one felt different from the previous.
Great job on this one, Dylan!

Thank you for your kind comments. I never actually played through X-2, but I’ve been considering it.
