    This vid just came across my feed, and although it isn't Christmas time anymore, I really appreciate this one. I have a cup of chamomile tea with cinnamon and lavender almost every evening before bed. Great relaxing tea. And the idea of making a bath tea bag sounds terrific. Will definitely give this one a try. Thanks so much from North Carolina, USA.

    Great idea for Christmas gifts Katie. But when adding lavender essential oil to the bath you need to add it to a carrier oil, such as olive, vegetable or even milk as it has enough fat in it to help disperse the lavender into the water. If you don't the essential oil will just lie on the top much like an oil slick! I hope you don't mind me mentioning this, but as an aromatherapist I would advise clients to do this. It only takes a teaspoonful. Have a great Christmas and Happy New year 😊

      Thank you for the tip Mary. I find all this so fascinating and can't wait to learn more, I've just purchased some books on making cleaning and beauty products. Have a wonderful new year

      Oh yes! I'm planning on growing lots more calendula next year just to harvest the petals, they have pretty amazing qualities.

    What a great gift idea! And you can change up the mixture of herbs and flowers for different effects. Perhaps some rosemary for an invigorating bath, or some powdered milk and rose hips for a skin softener. I love this idea! Thanks for the book suggestion, too, I'll definitely be on the lookout for that. If I may suggest, check out the book "Making & Selling Herbal Crafts" by Alyce Nadeau. There are recipes for potpourri and some absolutely gorgeous wreaths. It's an older book (the copy I have was published in 1996) but it's got a lot of great projects that I think you'd enjoy. Thanks again for sharing this great project :-)

      Thank you so much and you most definitely can! There's so many different alternatives which makes this project so exciting and fun :) Thanks for the book recommendation, I love books so always looking for new ones to read.

      My anxiety can be pretty high at times but chamomile tea has helped a lot. I used one of these tea bags in the bath the other night and the smell was heavenly so give it a try. Glad to be of help :)

    They sound wonderful! I guess, for a shower, perhaps, just a bag with the lavender and chamomile and the steam would release the scent?

    Hi Katie, could you tell me how you make your chamomile tea from the dried flowers. I’ve ordered some flowers to make the bath teabags but I’d like to make the tea too. Thanks. X

    • @oldorchardgarden
      @oldorchardgarden  6 лет назад

      Hi Charlotte and yay for ordering some of the chamomile flowers! I use a 2 cup Price and Kensington teapot with a removable filter inside it. Simply add 2 small teaspoons of the flowers into the filter and let it brew in the hot water for 3 minutes before serving. I add a small spoon of honey to the cup too and it's delicious! Enjoy x

    So is the rule of thumb 2 parts salt to 1 part herbs? Just thinking about other filling combinations...

    • @oldorchardgarden
      @oldorchardgarden  6 лет назад

      That's correct and there's so many different herbs that you can use as natural remedies. I'm going to grow more calendula next year to use the petals and I can't wait!

      Hi and thank you, I'm currently in the process of trying to fix this once I find a new microphone. It seems my current one only records in Mono so if you are listening through headphones you might not be getting the whole sound.

      Lavender and Leeks
      That could be it Katie . As I only have 1 speaker working on my pc . That might explained why I can't hear your voice . . Great videos btw a huge fan x
