Meh....I paid 39k for a Ridgeline RTL-E with every option. I get it’s not a body on frame “truck” but so much nicer and more features than this Ranger.
Leather, adaptive cruise, the warning when there’s a car in your blind spot, emergency braking, flat second row, three zone climate control, in bed audio (awesome feature), in bed trunk (even more awesome), leather front and back, soft touch dash and sides, led lights, power seats. I average 22.9 per fuelly app. Honestly, if your concern is towing and off-roading, the Ridgeline is not your truck. But it’s bed is wider and longer than this Ranger and I use mine to haul fishing gear. It’s perfect for my use.
For what you pay for a brand new mid-size truck like this, you could get a 1-2 yo used full sizer. Fords next ranger should be loads better than this generation considering how old this design already is
Too bad that guys like me can't buy a basic vehicle any longer. My 2000 F150 has floor mats, roll down Windows, no air conditioning, 2 wheel drive, no tow package, Kenwood radio set up and a V6. I have no need for anything else. I don't tow anything, I don't go 4 wheeling, I don't live where its vey hot for very long (I'm perfectly capable of rolling down a window) , I listen to music or the radio just for a 20 minute drive in town. I have too many other things pulling on my money to buy a bunch of things I'll never or rarely use. Resale? I still own it - free and clear. Just like my Thunderbird.
I test drove this truck, rode nice, I was hoping for a wow. I think Ford missed out not offering a v6. Bought a 19 Tacoma TRD off-road premium with tech. Each to their own, beauty of choice.
Ford had the right idea by adding a keypad to unlock the doors. It is actually a selling point for some people. Didn't include it on a work/recreation truck where perspiration, hard work/play or outdoor activities might damage the fob?!!?
I agree with you on that big basil in the display. The interior could use a bit of an update for the next version of the Ford ranger Tablet Style Screen on lower Trims 10-12 inch vertical display on upper trims with Sync4 with 5G Wi-Fi support, Alexa, the ability to do OTA software updates. An ST trim A hybrid power train optional All of Ford’s safety systems with an option to buy Ford’s active Driver Assist with Semi Autonomous Driving at level 2 with future full self driving suite. Cloth or leather seats
As if cost is no object..."No LED headlights, No dampened tailgate, No fancy key fob, No soft touch...etc" it's these unnecessary features that make even the most basic vehicle priced like a second home! How about smart, basic, affordable yet functional vehicles. Price creep has gotten out of hand across the board.
I agree. If it came with leather seats and LED headlights, I might be interested at that price point. I would not spend close to 49k for a Lariat trim Ranger.
Not exactly a "shocker" when ranger was discontinued in 2011. The fuel economy wasn't much better than F150, and there were fewer capabilities. Also the price wasn't that much lower, and the design hadn't changed much from 1978. While this newer design may find a niche, 24 MPG is nothing special, and the pricing is a bit high for this category.
I feel bad for the people who shelled out $40k for this rushed to the American market truck. It's obvious Ford didn't try to put a fresh version of a ranger for the price. Get a F150 and you'll get a better built, better options and overall better truck for similar money, never mind if you get a used one. It's sad that people don't demand more for their dollar rather then spend too much for something generic.
Mojo Risin people aren’t forced to buy it, so why would you feel bad for someone looking at something, seeing value in it and it suits their needs and buying it? Not everyone wants a full-size truck. If you always look at something from the perspective of well I can get x for the same price as y, then why buy an f150 lariat when you can get an f250 xl or xlt diesel for the same price ! With a few tweaks Ford simply brought the truck that everyone already knew they were bringing to the American market. Yes, it’s based on the global ranger that’s been out a while, but this exact truck save for the engine, transmission and a few tweaks is what the rest of the world is buying also.
Another vehicle in this same situation is the Nissan Frontier. They have an all new model overseas but not in America and it looks bad ass! But for now, I agree, it’s probably to late for Ford to introduce this one to the market cause the Tacoma and Colorado are killing it in sales!
I trademans that does no side jobs and construction inspectors are the only folks who'd pick this over a full size truck for that price. Just cramped and lacking in every department.
So ford takes the ranger from the U.S., sells it elsewhere in the world, brings it back to the U.S. when its convenient for them and hasn't changed it much from how its been sold for 8 years in other countries. Wtf.
It's a nice truck if it were 30k maybe 35k in the lariat trim, however it's very plain and I'm shocked that they introduced it back into the US markets without a major refresh, it's just the same one the rest of the world's been getting for like what 8 years... that being said it'll probably really hold its value, like others have said here I would just get a several year olds F-150, or even a used Colorado which they actually look rather similar!
He did! Sofyan strikes me as someone who's not the greatest driver. You can tell from his hesitancy when he drives off-road. He's real timid behind the wheel.
Ford should have not put the Ranger in hiatus in the first place but to release the newer version at the same time as other world markets. It could have been a marketing strategy like what Chevy did with the Colorado to change the image of their product. Saw a left hand drivers version of the current Ford Ranger in Hong Kong Spring 2018. That truck was a fully loaded version with features not available in the US version. I'm a bit shorter than you are and used to drive a 90s Ford F-150 standard cab daily on freeways and city roads. Feel just fine and not too small for the truck.
These things look great in ads. In person, they look poorly proportioned. If you pull up behind one, the tailgate looks like it's the size of an F-250 tailgate.
Apparently people have forgotten the point of a truck... Trucks are meant to be simple, and used for work. If people are expecting luxury items in a vehicle then get a regular passenger car or luxury car. All of these “cheap” feeling materials are going to age better in a work environment than leather or soft cloths. I don’t understand why people bitch and moan about what is supposed to be a work truck, not having luxury interiors. The Ranger, Tacoma, and Frontier are the only midsized pickup trucks that can actually be used for work, they have “cheap” interiors that will last a hell of a lot longer than any luxury interior will... Remember the more luxury items you add onto a vehicle, the more things that might, and WILL eventually break, no matter the brand. If people are buying pick up trucks as their daily drivers, and are expecting luxury items in something that is meant for work (which they will NEVER do in a pickup) then they are IDIOTS!! The problems isn’t the basic or “cheap” interior and exterior features, the problem is all of the people buying trucks meant for work, as their daily drivers.
make a time stamps for your videos! Let say i don't want to listen about rear view camera..i want to know about engine! And i have to click all over the video to figure out that info
Pass on this. Wait until they upgrade it. I also don't understand why car reviewers complain that the dash is plastic. No one drives touching their dashboard. I assume they are complaining because it will crack when exposed to years of sun. At least I hope so.
I have a feeling Mazda would have done a better job reviving the BT 50 in America than Ford with the Ranger. Ford sells so many F-150s I doubt they really miss the smaller truck market, but Mazda could benefit from selling a compact truck with that premium touch they’re touting nowadays. Especially if they could fit it with their Skyactiv 2.5T. If they could just refresh it first, and preferably engineer it so it doesn’t have spontaneous combustion problems like the Ranger, that would be great. Just spoutin’ ideas.
I own a Southeast Asian Ranger, the only advantage the North American Ranger has is the Engine. I'm so sorry, North America has a really expensive and cheap feeling Ranger, mine has everything for basically less than $30,000 3.2L 5Cyl Diesel 4x4 with all the Safety, Tech and Amenity features, not to mention the rest of the world gets the Ranger Raptor. In the Philippines, the Ranger Raptor costs around $38,000 which is considerably less than even the mid-level XLT in North America.

Strangely enough companies are in business to try to make money, not go bankrupt, does your $1,000+ smartphone cost that much to make? It is up to consumers to decide if they need a certain vehicle. As for people saying but, but my 1989 Ranger only cost $15,000 this is a RIP off, well back then gas costs me 1/4 of what it was then, average cost of a house here was 1/3 of current prices, notice a pattern there?
@@garys2157 It is overpriced if the product doesn't exceed or match the competition. This is not the first lackluster review I've read about the Ranger. I'm well aware of how commerce works, no internet lecture needed. My opinion stands regarding this truck.
This truck's pretty big. To anyone outside of the US, is this considered full sized to you? I don't think I've seen bigger trucks than this when I've went overseas.
Reliability is the key. I love it but I hope it stays reliable
A 2001 Toyota Camry is more reliable than this ...
Not likely with that Ecoboost. Lots of mustang owners already not happy about it.
@@cancel.lgbtq.6892 reliability data has not even been collected for this vehicle making your statement rather useless
Trenton_ A see comment above yours...
@@cancel.lgbtq.6892 once again reliability data has not been collected for a Ford Ranger... the EcoBoost Mustang has been reliable according to US news & world report's
Meh....I paid 39k for a Ridgeline RTL-E with every option. I get it’s not a body on frame “truck” but so much nicer and more features than this Ranger.
I’m looking at both vehicles. Please, tell us what features the Ridgeline has over the Ranger. Heated steering wheel, what else?
The Honda pilot truck van can't tow as much as a Ranger
@@tonygiordano939 a sunroof off the top of my head. Who doesn't offer a sunroof on a vehicle today? Especially one that costs up to 40k +
Hamer Player yeah, I forgot sunroof too.
Sat in one last weekend and liked but the hard plastics turned me off.
I smell a comparison review coming.
Ford had the right idea by adding a keypad to unlock the doors. It is actually a selling point for some people.
Didn't include it on a work/recreation truck where perspiration, hard work/play or outdoor activities might damage the fob?!!?
I agree with you on that big basil in the display. The interior could use a bit of an update for the next version of the Ford ranger
Tablet Style Screen on lower Trims
10-12 inch vertical display on upper trims with Sync4 with 5G Wi-Fi support, Alexa, the ability to do OTA software updates.
An ST trim
A hybrid power train optional
All of Ford’s safety systems with an option to buy Ford’s active Driver Assist with Semi Autonomous Driving at level 2 with future full self driving suite.
Cloth or leather seats
i’m hoping the 3.0 power stroke would become an option
What’s the deal with the Jeep Gladiator in the background???
Redline reviews uploaded at the perfect time for my insomnia 👌🏽👍🏽 (:
Same
That tailgate looks straight from a 2005 f150 crew cab.
A small truck today is as big as the big super duty trucks of the not so distant past. Do not like it at all.
It’s rather a 7 year hiatus. Good video as always
Buyers remorse standard.
So old. Same ones they've been pumping out of Thai factories n driving on our Aussie roads since 2011.
Oh, that's interesting to know, I thought the SuperCrew Ranger was shorter than the Jeep Gladiator.
The Ranger is back. Sweet.
I can see that Gladiator in the background Sofyan. I knew that's coming.
The ranger never left "America" it's been sold in Mexico still
Wait until the new Nissan frontier comes out it will be better looking in this segment ? With the V motion grilled
Don't care to see shadows in video shots of the cameraman or equipment. I know it's not always avoidable.
Tacoma and Colorado are better trucks overall.
Colorado sucks
they still have this in australia
41 grand is insane for as cheap as it looks
It’s new but still looks old
The compromise between this and a full size is just too much.
Wtf.
I don’t see any F-150 in Ranger. It is not class leading but Ford had to get back in game. We need cheaper trucks and smaller footprints for cities.
41k isn’t cheap.. this things to fail in the new car market.
15:49 lmao did u cut someone off and they were blaring their horn at you? 😂
He did! Sofyan strikes me as someone who's not the greatest driver. You can tell from his hesitancy when he drives off-road. He's real timid behind the wheel.
That Style Tho ?????
You can pay a bit more for an F150 XLT, unless you really want a more compact truck.
I don't disagree, but $41K for this?? I think no one would complain about "non luxury" plastic if this was $28K. They are way out of range for this.
make a time stamps for your videos! Let say i don't want to listen about rear view camera..i want to know about engine! And i have to click all over the video to figure out that info
The plastic bezel around the infotainment screen is brutal ...
Pass on this. Wait until they upgrade it. I also don't understand why car reviewers complain that the dash is plastic. No one drives touching their dashboard. I assume they are complaining because it will crack when exposed to years of sun. At least I hope so.
It selling like hotcakes here in New Zealand and Australia, its like every second car you see is a ford ranger
Just drove it but had the Lariat
Would you buy it tho?
Fastest ford truck ever made
