Great backpack to carry in a jacket pocket when it's cold in the morning and hot afternoon. First half of the day jacket is carrying backpack, on second - backpack is carrying a jacket.
Hey mate, I'm looking into getting the Porter 46 for a 1 month trip to Italy. What is your experience with the pack? I've done some research and I think it'll be the best thing for my situation but I want to hear your take
I've been using the 18 liter ultra light backpack by Naturehike . It has a nice front pocket for quick access and two water bottle pockets. It's a great little ultra light backpack. Osprey's "shadow grey" color is also more green - not grey at all as far as I can tell - on their larger backpacks. I've never understood why the call that color grey.
Hey Kathy - thanks for sharing your experience with us, we're glad you've found a pack that works so well for you! And, we hear you regarding the color. We've also found that the colors don't always match up. 😊🙌 - Rebecca
@@PackHacker2 Just to clarify, I don't mean to diss on Osprey at all as I like their gear. I use a Porter 30 (teal color) backpack and Ozone 21 (black) roller bag when I need to take more stuff with me on my travels. The combo works very well for me. :-)
@@jagerchloe9102 I saw the Naturehike on Amazon, 18l and 25l. Also stated 30D Nylon. does not look bad. I got a Gonex 28l. Seems good. I have the Osprey Daylite Plus, which seems well made (but the top handle rubs on the neck when worn tight for running, and Deuter 12l, that i bought for running but it has not waist belt. Anyway I am not sure if I would spend a lot for a packable daypack. The Osprey Daylite plus and the Deuter fold flat and are lightweight, especially the Deuter, and have nice features.
Hi I'm looking for a daypack like the osprey tempest 20 but front loading, opening like a suitcase with outside bottle holders. Do you know of any bag like this? max 30 litres, thank you

Does it have a plastic / rubbery coating on the inside to make it water resistant? I find that these coatings break down and flake all over the place after a year of use.

Awesome tip! :D
Exactly why I'm considering this 👍🏻
BTW, gifted it to my wife this week. At first glance, looks cool. Osprey makes great backpacks.
@@konserv nice - just ordered mine along with a compact towel 😀
Was expecting a demo of how to stuff it back into the pocket..
Osprey never ceases to amaze me. Love my Porter 46 and now I want to get this as a supplement.

Love it for going to convenience stores while traveling in Thailand.
That's exactly where I intend to use it this year: gym, beach, bike rides
That side pocket is perfect for a 32 Nalgene or 36/40 oz insulated bottle.

Could this fit a 15" laptop
I'm looking for a video/pic of someone wearing it as a backpack. struck out a second time...
The external pocket won't stay closed if you fill the bag to the max
How deep is that top pocket?

Pity it does not have chest strap. It is included in bigger model, but it means 100g more. Bummer.
Is there a sternum strap?
Nope-no sternum strap here!
-Eric
Is this a waterproof?
Hey jon! The Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack does offer a small amount of weather resistance, but it's not waterproof. 👍
