Your hit it just right on this one! Work with the supplies you have and really be price conscious ! Go through what you already have and get that inventory moving before you buy more no matter how tempting it might be to get the “new release fragrance or jars” . Great video !!!
So true! and what I have seen also is that people are turning more onto buying essential oils for their diffusers instead of candles, as they are great sellers because of health issues (some oils are good for the lungs, etc.)
I’m so glad to see you speak on this. I’ve done the same of going back to basics and focusing on restructuring to a business model that suits me for now.
I think this may also be a good time to get into "side" items that relate to the business as well. Not go warehouse-deep in machinery and new skus, but offer something that others, even in the same niche, do not. For example, I am looking into a simple laser etcher. Why? People "always" recommend costers, and that can apply to candles as well. How? Personalized or branded etching on slate coasters for "candle table protectors" as glass can get hot. At the same time, you can cross suggest if they need etching done, to remember you. Even if no one takes up the offer for custom, you still have a "candle product" to offer. Anyways, just a random idea to anyone else who is watching. I'm currently also taking the time to test and perfect hidden color-change wax melts. I can do it small scale but can't figure out the process yet for the group.
I’m definitely cutting my line back this year and ordering just the absolutely necessary items. All the new oils are so tempting but not different enough for me to make a huge leap to something new.
I've booked my shows for the year. I've found organizers are limiting the number of makers for specific products which is why I booked early! I've also gone back to my basics. I'll use 2 candle jars that I know work for me. My fragrances will be limited. I've found that less is more.
The other thing too many people are buying nice size candles at HL, HG all the major stores for 10 dollars or less that are actually really good. With prices like that it's very hard to compete against when those are just as good as yours 😢.

Currently focusing on my county alone. Creating a subscription based box with free delivery in my county alone. 170k population.
He's got the right idea. We should listen
I want to start my candle making journey this year. I’m thinking I’ll just test this year.

Thank you Jeff. Makes perfect sense.
I am cautious for 2024 also.

I started getting hard with myself last year. It’s hard not to buy all the things😀

If you were eating a big plate of spaghetti you would look exactly like your computer screen wallpaper

Good morning Jeff! So, it’s 12/24 what’s your thoughts on how 2024 went for the Candle Business?

They really aren't always good candles.
