I like the idea of using the library more! I’ve been doing that this year and while I do buy books (mostly at thrift shops) I’m not spending a lot on them and really only buying books I’ve read before and loved.

I feel like buying books you’ve already read, or the next in a series you love and know you’ll read, is so much more rewarding! Getting the books from the library definitely gives me the same feeling, if not better, as a big bookstore haul!

I’ve got much better this year at only buying books if my library doesn’t have them in any format. I’ve also requested them to buy quite a few books which is super easy too! It has meant though that of the 73 books I’ve read this year, only 4 have been ones I own and all the rest have been from the library or arcs, but my physical tbr is now at 100 books (I can’t resist secondhand shops) so my focus next year is going to be to try and reduce that!
I love being able to request the books from the library for them to buy because I always forget I did it and then they’re a surprise when I get the email hahaha 🤣

I’m so proud of you! Libraries are amazing!!! I love mine and I quite honestly only read from them. Do I have a library of my own? I do. Do I care! Nope! I love my public library.
I prefer reading a library copy to a personal copy any day 🤣
Libraries are fantastic. I like to have books on my shelves but I don’t read them, they are just my friends to keep me company while I read library books 😂😂

My book-buying rule is ONLY buying books that I've already read, loved, and want to add to my personal library 😊 so usually Christmas rolls around and i just put all the books i loved that year on my Christmas list 😅

Woo Library! I have started using it more this year and plan to increase that more next year. I actually only subscribe to BOTM and Aardvark now. Cancelled my FL because I could never pick what I wanted despite them being pretty. I've moved more to finding my own book gems even if the outside is normal.

I never understood subscription boxes cuz like yes sometimes they have special editions of books people know and love, but most of the time you're just getting random books every month that u most likely won't read🤷🏻 I def only get books I'm like 70% sure I'll at least enjoy the journey of reading it, otherwise I just get it from the library or try to find it used for cheap lol I do admit i used to be jealous of some of the items that came in boxes. I used to think "can i just get a subscription box of merch? Can they just sell me the merch separately and I'll pick what i like?"😭
I was so glad when they did book only options because I never wanted the merch 🤣 I find I enjoy the books when I finally read them, but I always forget to keep up with them for some reason!
