Just watching this on the TV channel again, absolutely great piece!!! Pre or post race in defeat or in victory, one of only a handful who is truly worth listening to in racing. A master trainer!

Always a fascinating person to listen to. He's a great exponent of times, something he picked up training in the USA, and he has always studied form. He's not nearly as arrogant as the old style trainers who didn't bother checking out the ability of other horses but exclusively concentrated on their own horses. One of the reasons John Gosden is so successful is because he is an astute tactician and places his horses to perfection.

I have a ton of respect for John Gosden. The old American master trainer, Charlie Whittingham, always spoke glowingly of Gosden from his days in California years ago. IMO, along with Sir Henry Cecil and Sir Michael Stoute, as good as it gets among trainers in the UK.

You do know that his dad was Towser Gosden ?? You would be very good too if you were born into the sport Mr Beret. Get real mate ! The best trainer is such a stupid subject. I wonder how well they would have done against David Elsworth if they were getting two grand horses like David were. I knew David when he was selling oranges on Salisbury market Tuesdays and Saturdays.
