- Hey guys! Last week, my son and I had the pleasure of visiting the Ron Coleman Crystal Mine yet again. We had a great time! They dumped 4 loads that day and we found some great pieces. It's a lot of work and effort, but it is rewarding at the same time.
In this video, I go over some of my tips and tricks that I try to employ when searching for crystals at the Ron Coleman Crystal Mine. I hope that they are a help to you!
Let me know in the comments below which of the crystals is your favorite!
Thanks so much for watching and all of the support.
God bless!
-Joe

Im already planning a return trip during cooler months i had more fun there than the two amusement parks we went to afterwards lol i wish it wasnt a 11-12 hour drive but definitely worth the road trip from indiana!!!!

Wow, great finds, Loved the big one your son found!!!
Thank you!! We still have that piece, he’s pretty proud of it. 👍

Ooh…that one sounds beautiful!!
I actually like the GoPro. It's easier for you and gives us a good view. Make it easy on yourself. Great vid!
Thank you! I always wonder...I moved my head more than I thought when I dig, and I cut out several videos because I didn't want to have too much "shaky cam" and make people sea sick. lol
15:31 I need that one lol!!
Headed up this weekend, thanks for the info!
You should follow up afterwards to let me know how you did! 👍
Your videos helped me when i planned my trip to the crater of diamonds and you were super helpful in person. Definitely a dad! Thanks again.
That’s very humbling…thank you!! It was a pleasure to be able to dig with you guys a little bit! Hope things are going well over in DC!!
We just got back from there today after mining Tuesday and Wednesday but we had real rotten luck. Now I know why! You got them all last week! Lol
Great video Buddy!!
Thank you, my friend!!
Beautiful finds 👍
Thank you!! It was a lot of fun!
Absolutely beautiful finds! I've been wanting to try out Ron Coleman and you just confirmed its a must do! These are amazing pieces!
Thank you! I’ve been to Ron Coleman’s several times, and some days we do really well, other days we do fairly well. We always leave with something that’s of value though! If you do go, please update if you should think of it.
Also, check out their dumping logs on their web site, as it’ll let you know which days they brought up some fresh material. This trip I was able to see that they dumped two days in a row, then we got there and they dumped a third day, so it was nice!
Beautiful crystals!!
Thanks so much!! I usually get some nice pieces from this mine.
Nice 👍 Those are some of the clearest crystals Ive ever seen
Thanks so much Jim!! I have found my clearest crystals from Ron Coleman, they always seem to have some good ones!
I just subscribed, by the way. I thought I had earlier, but I guess I missed it. 👍
Wow! You found some really nice ones out there! Makes me want to give that location a second chance
If you ever want to go, let me know!!
@@joedadbod8450 yea I’ll need to plan something soon before it gets too hot

@@joedadbod8450 Probably
@@joedadbod8450 I'll tell you if I do I probably will
I'm going to this location for the first time Saturday. I went to Avant mining a few months ago ane only found really small fragments. Hoping to find some like you did!
Be sure to check their dump logs to see when they brought up new material. looks like they brought some up yesterday (Tuesday). You can find it here:

Checking back in! Thank you SO MUCH for the tip about the peanut butter consistency to look for. We hit a huge pocket today and got a crystal the size of my hand! I'd love to show you a photo but not sure if you have Instagram or not. 🙂
Oooh…congratulations on that find!!
I don’t have Instagram just yet, but I am over on FB. Feel free to reach out here if you’re able, as I would love to see it!

@@joedadbod8450 just sent a friend request (:
this was awesome do these crystals form in the soil? I would love to get one of these crystals for my daughter great video exciting to watch
Thanks Tom!
Yeah, they form naturally right in the ground, then they take them out of their pit and haul them up to the main digging area and dump them out for us to go through. It’s a lot of fun!
@@joedadbod8450 amazing how they form in the ground this was great fun
They don’t form in the soil, they grow in cracks in the rock. Weathering fills the openings with clay. The miners excavate the veins and dump the leftovers on the dumps.
Hi Joe , I will be out in AR in May , I will be coming out solo and im looking for a digging partner, i will be going to a few of the mines out there. please hit me back with a PM
Hello! I'm not sure how to do a PM through RUclips, to be honest. I'm old. lol
May is gonna be tough...the mines are about 3.5 hours away from me (one way), and I have twins graduating in May, one of my sons is coming home from college on another weekend which will need help, and other family travels planned. Not sure I'll be able to do much rockhounding in May, unfortunately, but we'll see! Check back a little closer to time, like a week or two before you travel out here and I'll let you know what my schedule looks like. Sound good? 👍
Amazing clarity! Are all of these quartz u take it home for free?
You pay a $25 fee per adult to enter the mine, then you’re allowed to take home as much as you want. 👍
They allow you to dig for free on your birthday, btw.
@@joedadbod8450 whoa that is sweet! I wish i could go there one day.. there’s no quartz mine here in my country 🥹
You mentioned in one of your videos that they sold something in the rock shop to clean the crystals. I forgot to buy some when I was there. What do you use to clean them after water washing? Thx
I typically use Iron Out, and it can be found at Wal Mart, Lowe’s, etc. It’ll be by all of the cleaners, usually by where the toilet/tub cleaners are for removing iron stains. They don’t really market it towards Rockhounds. About 4-ish dollars for a container with powder at Wal Mart, Lowe’s is a little more expensive but you can get larger containers of it and spray bottles of it too.
I usually set my crystals in a bucket, add the Iron Out/water mix, then let in soak in the sun for a day.
Definitely wash your crystals off after letting them soak in the Iron Out. 👍
@@joedadbod8450 thanks so much! Can’t wait to see them cleaned up. Maybe consider creating a short video on your cleaning procedures? Or do you already have one?
@@joedadbod8450 thanks for all your suggestions. We made our trip in July and found some cool crystals i spite of the heat. Thanks again for your help. ruclips.net/video/XFwPWf48F3c/видео.htmlsi=BCNCvPKk32ljFbaV
