In fairness to Gronk, Kelce has run a lot more routes than Gronk who spent more time blocking or decoying. Gronk has always had a higher yards per route run rating and higher efficiency score. They are pretty different as players and not really fair to compare the two.
Kelce and Gronk are both all time greats, but I don't see anything similar at all about their skillsets or style of play. Kelce will give you a steady stream of short to mid range receptions throughout the game. Gronk is a vicious run blocker who will give you a couple of fantastic highlight reel receptions if and when you really need them. Kelce has perfected route running and adjusting the route on the fly to position himself for a completion, while Gronk stomps over DBs and out muscles them, whether he's in good position or not. Totally and utterly different players and who honestly have nothing in common when it comes to how they approach the tight end position.
If you think Kelce only gives you short to mid range receptions than you don’t know football lol. He has numerous highlights where he makes big plays across the middle, sidelines and YAC. He was also a better run blocker than people think, does a disservice to him. Kelce blocks at a less rate, but not by much and if still effective
Kelce has never been a "run 45 yards down the field and then catch the ball" kind of receiver. They don't use him that way. Sure he makes big plays, but they come more from run after the catch than from running 40-60 yard post routes.@@praneethperera7042
@@praneethperera7042Sure he has some highlights throughout his career where he gets YAC, but that’s not his game at all. I can’t remember the last time I saw him catch a ball, break a couple tackles, and go for a 50+ yard TD. It’s got to be a few years since he’s done that and I could probably count in 1 hand the total times he’s done it…. Gronk was a YAC machine breaking tackles for huge plays every game, Travis doesn’t have that same ability.
@@Yrgzip0 you must either be a Pats/Gronk fan or don’t watch football lol. YAC was Kelce’s game his first half of his career lol. Not only would be break tackles, stiff arm people, but had the speed and the moves understanding leverage and players flowing towards the ball. Then as he got older last 3-4 years he became more of a possession receiver. Also your assessment of not remembering his last 50+ yard TD is idiotic lol. You act like that’s a common occurrence, especially for a TE lol. I don’t even think Gronk has a 50+ yd TD and if he does, it’s not more than 3. I know Kelce has at least three 40+ yd TDs which I would be willing to bet is more than Gronk. And yes Gronk was better at breaking tackles, mostly because he was 15 lbs heavier, but Kelce was elite in that unlike you claim him to be. But Gronk was not better overall at YAC because Kelce is a better route runner, faster and has better moves in the open field.
I just appreciate the respect between players, the stories, the humility they have with each other when discussing their career records. Yes, I scream for my teams, and get heated, but I have mad respect for many athletes, my teams or not. I'd rather watch this than any sports news channel.

Kelce is a great RECEIVER. Gronk is the complete TE. Never saw Kelce block; actually I see them run away from him or he is not on the field for run plays.
I give Kelsey all the credit in the world for being that difference maker on the Chiefs. And i believe he will be a Hall of Famer. But Man GRONK was a FREAK of nature. To be that damn big and strong, that damn fast, and that damn athletic. He blocked a guy from the field and into a Gatorade cooler. For running his mouth during a game. @@ricardorivera7549the chiefs sub a blocking tight end onto the field on 3rd and 1 and take kelce off the field when theyre gonna run...gronk meanwhile in that scenario would be blocking someone including haloti ngata...kelce is a route runner he isnt a complete tight end
@@dp233332 lmaooo bro said haloti ngata. there is no scenario where a te blocks a NT. maybe a crack block at most. also its just basic usage of maximizing ur players skills. kelce does block, idk where u got from that he doesnt. going strictly by Pro Football Focus grades, which admittedly are imperfect, Gronkowski averaged a career pass-blocking grade of 69.2 and a run-blocking grade of 71.4. Kelce, on the other hand, has averaged a pass-blocking grade of 65.5 and a run-blocking grade of 66.7. Gronkowski also averaged 23 run-blocking snaps per game to go along with five pass-blocking snaps, whereas Kelce has averaged 18 and two. u are making it sound like kelce never blocks when he actually does and the difference is minimal.
@@dp233332 besides kelce makes up for it by being such an amazing receiver, consistency longevity and availability. u couldnt feed gronk 8-10 catches a game cuz he got injured too much. kelce can do it. and not only that, he did it for 8 years straight. gronk never had more than 2 1k seasons in a row.
Gronk shortened his own career by not doing therapy. His style was headlong and violent and this is not conducive to a long career. He didn't know how to let up on the throttle, never wanted to go down even when he was being gang tackled, and took an enormous number of hits. Car accidents! He also infamously came back too soon from the broken arm and broke it a second time. Terrible, but "that was Gronk", as we said back then.
There's no therapy that stops you from getting a herniated disc, or a torn ACL. Gronk shortened his career by playing like a raging bull on cocaine. And for that, we will also love him and hold him in the highest regards.
What people don't realize is Gronk is one of the 4 people who changed the way the game was played on one side of the ball. Let me explain; Lawrence Taylor; changed the game(Offenses changed because of how he played defense.), Tom Brady; changed the game (3 new rules were made because of him.), Deion Sanders; changed the game (Shut down the entire side of the field he played on. Offenses had to scheme for him.), & Rob Gronkowski; changed the game (Because he was 6 foot 6 inches and 265 lb TE. He made opposing defenses especially in his own division have to draft bigger safeties, and bigger Cornerbacks because he was so huge. Only ones strong enough to tackle him were the Linebackers up front, and they were to slow to catch him. Only CBs and Free Safeties were the ones fast enough to catch him were "TO" small to tackle him. So most of the AFC over a 10 year period started drafting bigger CBs and Safeties.)
@@irwin25 You are not wrong. Plus Moss was the only WR at that time that did the no "Open" hands catch style of catching the ball. It made CBs so annoyed defending him.
u gonna have to add shannon to that list bc of how he changed the TE position, he was the start of what made people look for folks like Travis and Gronk to not just be able to block but also have the ability to run routes and make plays. the tight end position has like 2-3 people that has changed/solidified how its viewed today
@@lightningjuniorsuper Shannon Sharpe was the first jump in the evolution of the TE, pushed further by Gates & Gonzalez. Gronk came on the scene and super-saiyan'ed that evolution so hard that it has forever changed the position. To me, I think that's the difference.
Looking at these 3 guys from the cameras I think of Super Bowls LI-LV Gronk LI Jason LII Then back to Gronk for LIII Travis LIV Then back to Gronk again for LV
I'm a diehard Pats fan and have been since I was 12 years old (41 now). Grew up a mile from the stadium and I honestly have to say I do not at all hate the Chiefs, I kinda think they're amazing. Pats had an unbelievable run and so are the chiefs. Gronk had an unbelievable run and so is Kelce. There's no reason to hate greatness.
True but the injuries and the hits he took was brutal , he was a massive dude , wish Hernandez was playing before all the bs stuff that happened he could’ve had a break at some point
Love your videos and the total respect you give to other players. I had a burst shoulder bursa after a shot was administered incorrectly. Man, that was some serious pain that I had well over a month. Love Gronk, great career and a wonderful sense of humor. Seems like a great guy. Best wishes to Jason and Travis in the future ❤❤❤
Gronk is the best TE ever to play the game period no discussion. Dude could be tackled without a gang of men or taking over his knees which isn’t legal anymore so if Gronk came into the league today defenders who have 0 chance to tackle him when he’s at full speed. The intimidation factor was too real when it came to Gronk, they did not wanna tackle him ever.
Not to take anything away from Travis, but Gronk will always be one of a kind. His plays were full of "how the hell did you catch that?", dragging 5 defenders along for a touch down, breaking multiple tackles, getting extra yardage, jumping over defenders, catching too high and too low passes, and pushing defenders "out of the club!" LOL. In my lifetime, Gronk was the most exciting player in the history of the NFL. Thank God for YT video highlights because I can relive all of those exciting Gronk plays. Love this podcast! The only one I watch now.
I don't think I could listen to Kittle after some of the stuff the 9ers said about the Eagles when they lost last year. I know emotions were high and all, but unlucky stuff like that happens all the time. You still show some sportsmanship and class, but some of them were just plain disrespectful. It sucks bc I liked Kittle's play on the field, but that was like Philly's first impression of him, and even tho I could move past it, the people in this area are kinda known for holding grudges lol.
Gronk was unstoppable that year. Had him on my fantasy team. Perfect TE height and size. Hands like a WR and would just snatch the ball. Rarely seem anyone rip the ball out from him so he had a strong grip.
The only difference to me in primes was gronk seem to catch more "bombs" like a receiver on the outside vs YAC, thats how i recall it..timed to Gronk short or deep...vs scramble drill, ALL these guys are awesome
@@ricardorivera7549hes a shitty blocker they sub him out and swap in a blocking te on 3rd and 1 when theyre gonna run the ball he will never be the best his stats are result of good health just like tony g another highly overrated te

I'd never even thought about it in dollars and cents when it comes to TEs and WRs until Gronk compared Kelce and Adams. You'd really think with the expectation disparity between the two positions that organizations would make very deliberate "special circumstance" contracts for superstar TEs. Like Kelce is a fantastic receiver AND is expected to run blocking routes, same with Gronk when he was still in it. Having an outside perspective of football, I treat TE and CB as probably the most athletic positions just because you are almost literally playing both offense and defense (and having to be in that mindset throughout) every single drive. Receivers run routes and they catch balls; that's *absolutely* not meant as any form of disrespect, it's just wild to me that they're some of the highest paid in the league when they perceivably have one job to do.
grew up as Mark Bavaro as a real tight end - blocks - can catch and then takes a few men to Drag him down, and then along came Gronk who was just a bigger version of Bavaro, Kelce is just a receiver I will never class him as a Tight End, as he only cares about pay and receiving yards and Touchdown - so my first choice in todays game - is Kittle who will do anything to win a game even block all day, but when he does catch a pass - with yards is just perfect and every team would love to have him on their side-line.
Say what you want, but Gronk was that dude for sure. His injuries ruined him for sure but damn, gotta respect Kelce for being so consistent. But imo, ain't nobody beating Gronk, just because he was that monster you couldn't get down and broke through everything and everyone. But Kelce has that receiver ability for him going, especially since having Mahomes. Also, the game definitely changed now, and one could argue it's a lot "easier" to get numbers and stats, which is why I don't really look at them. It's always an opinion, but yeah, Gronk all day everyday. Glad I got to see him play a couple of years. One of a kind.
I’m a pats fan so I obviously love this. I never liked Kelce for some reason and I thought he just seemed like a douche. Watching this podcast makes me realize I was so wrong. He’s the fucking man. Gonna watch some Kelce highlights after this vid.
I love how Gronk is retired but can still get into Kelce's head. He may not have even intended it but stating that Travis should be paid A LOT more will definitely have some play. Mayber he'll get a boost in his next contract.
Gronk played more snaps when it was real football (where u could actually hit players like ur sposed to and not get a bs penalty). But travis is still elite and definitely one of the greatest.

Love football! ❤️
Someone with sense
Gronk was the total package. Catching and blocking. Never saw a tight end so dominate.
He had a quarterback. Pure and simple
Travis seems like such a happy dude.
I have a new found respect for Travis Kelce...always been a GRONK supporter but Travis gave "props" when he didn't have to.
ONE THING that Travis NEVER HAS done and NEVER WILL DO IS...100 yard receiving
2 touchdowns
3 haymakers
Single game record in NFL
How can you not LOVE GRONK! i'm a die hard chief always have been and always will be, but Gronk is a beast! Kelce and Gronk have completely changed the game with their greatness!
Love these guys. Football players for the most part really seem to appreciate each other and what it takes to be great and are fans of each other.
Kelce is a great RECEIVER. Gronk is the complete TE. Never saw Kelce block; actually I see them run away from him or he is not on the field for run plays.
Glad for Gronk retiring at the right time, one of the greats and a nice guy !
Great interview of these greats talking to each other! I like it a lot! Gronkowski and the Kelce brothers are not just great athletes but good guys!
Listen to how humble they are here and how they go out of their way to big each other up - opposite of the nonsense drama on major networks.
As a hockey fan first I gotta say this is my absolute fav podcast
Man I love gronk a ton! Greatest TE ever
Fuck yeah, great video, funny guys, love the TE position, underrated and underpaid.
Gronk over Kelce any day but that's not an insult, they're both incredible players
Plus he even loosened coach Bill up. 🤫🤫🤫
They were and still are both awesome. I bet they love the fact that they are constantly compared to each other.
there’s never been a 6’6 265 tight end that can run and make the most insane catches and scare tf out of 290 lb defensive ends like grink he’s the goat Tight End Trav is one of the best x receivers
nahh trav is the goat when its all said and done there will be no debate
@@ricardorivera7549kelce isnt close2gronk cant block half as well isnt anywhere near as tough2tackle stop smoking crack
Love the love and appreciation they have for each other, good to see 💯
Gronk in his prime was the best TE of all time lol
The best interviews!
Like the respect shown here between the 2. Not a chiefs fan or a fan of kelce but he is great just like gronk. Both fun to watch on the field
gronk and hernandez were on a tear in 2011, they was takin souls fr
Hernandez was definitely taking souls, that's for sure.
Gronk is going to be in the HOF one day, dude has highlight reels from Patriots and Bucs. Dude is a beast!
I’d say you nailed that one ☝️
Add Randy Moss to that list. Moss made every team started looking for tall, fast corners.
I love the friendly competitive banter.
Looking at these 3 guys from the cameras
I think of Super Bowls LI-LV
Gronk LI
Jason LII
Then back to Gronk for LIII
Travis LIV
Then back to Gronk again for LV
I really like all these guys. Rob and Travis are huge guys with great ability.
Gronk and Edelman really impressed me lately...amazin dudes..and im a Giants fan!!!!
Two of the greatest TE’s PF all time
How could you NOT love these guys?
the respect in this is so great.
If only we had a full healthy career Gronk...His records wouldn't even be touched. Man, he was incredible when he played.
Gronk seems like such a chill dude
Gronk is only 5 months older than Kelce but he somehow came into the NFL 3 years before Kelce.
True but the injuries and the hits he took was brutal , he was a massive dude , wish Hernandez was playing before all the bs stuff that happened he could’ve had a break at some point
I love this podcast 👏🏼
I feel like the world really needs a podcast with Travis Kelce, Rob Gronkowski and George Kittle on it. How entertaining would that be?
I don't think I could listen to Kittle after some of the stuff the 9ers said about the Eagles when they lost last year. I know emotions were high and all, but unlucky stuff like that happens all the time. You still show some sportsmanship and class, but some of them were just plain disrespectful.
It sucks bc I liked Kittle's play on the field, but that was like Philly's first impression of him, and even tho I could move past it, the people in this area are kinda known for holding grudges lol.
Two future hall of famers, for sure.
So happy I seen this. Just makes me know that Gronk and Kelce are actually good friends. Not what the media makes out of it.
Media are dickheads, of course they're gonna start shit where there isn't any
Both are beasts but I always liked Gronk for his blocking ability
These are great guys
Gronk was unstoppable that year. Had him on my fantasy team. Perfect TE height and size. Hands like a WR and would just snatch the ball. Rarely seem anyone rip the ball out from him so he had a strong grip.
LOVE MY GRONK❣️ Great show y’all!!!
In my opinion , if we try to compare two players we should look at their prime and Gronk was different type of a beast on his prime
Cool to see gronk is a good sport
It’s fun watching them two talk about TE play
I love this show!
I discovered Travis on the dynasty Waiver Wire his breakout year and been a fan ever since.
They are both great and down to earth guys and a big plus good looking at that 😂
The comparison between the two is fun since they're stylistically so different but they get the same job done.
The fact the Kelce doesn't get injured is unbelievable!
Kelce's got the stats and will likely be the GOAT TE. Gronk was big, unstoppable, and put the fear in defenders.
Funny how Gronk talks about age when he and Travis are the same age. It is less than a 5 month difference between them.
Yeah I’m sure he feels like an old man after all those leg arm and back surgeries
@@jaimegarcia9319i have a shoulder impingement and it fucking sucks working, can’t imagine how gronk feels in his body
That's because Gronk's 1st season starting in the NFL was at 21, Travis didn't start until he was 24.
They’re both amazing at the position, end of story. No one like the, at that spot since Gonzales and Sharpe.
Either way these two on TE Mount Rushmore.
The only difference to me in primes was gronk seem to catch more "bombs" like a receiver on the outside vs YAC, thats how i recall it..timed to Gronk short or deep...vs scramble drill, ALL these guys are awesome
Gronk and Kelce are my top 2 TEs now. I use to have Sharpe and Gonzalez. The numbers, SBs and big play moments have escalated Kelce to top 2.
to me kelce is 1 and he easily has 2 more years in the tank to really end the debate w a couple of more 1k seasons and maybe 1 more ring.
@@ricardorivera7549hes a shitty blocker they sub him out and swap in a blocking te on 3rd and 1 when theyre gonna run the ball he will never be the best his stats are result of good health just like tony g another highly overrated te
Feels like Gronk should be a lot older than Kelce
6:57 chiefs hearing that, like wait?! Get that contract out now lol
whenever i see IG comments on a gronk video shitting on travis, or on a travis kelce video shitting on gronk -- i always come back to this video. both absolute beasts at the tight end position
They all care about pay
Makes Kelce sounds like he lead a revolution for the people
Bronk is just a good dude man 🍻
I love how Gronk is retired but can still get into Kelce's head. He may not have even intended it but stating that Travis should be paid A LOT more will definitely have some play. Mayber he'll get a boost in his next contract.
Gronk played more snaps when it was real football (where u could actually hit players like ur sposed to and not get a bs penalty). But travis is still elite and definitely one of the greatest.
what? bro u talkin as if gronk played in the 2000s. they are the same age. kelce was drafted just 3 years ahead of gronk. and gronks prime didnt started till 2014 when kelce was already in the scene.
@@ricardorivera7549you’re wrong. Gronk was drafted 3 years before Kelce and Gronk literally his peak his second season
Love rob confidence in hisself 💯💯
Gronk was the greatest tight end of all time. There's no debate. Travis is built like a wide receiver. A finesse pass catcher. Gronk was physically dominating and gifted with excellent blocking ability as well as pass catching ability. Even with playing hurt most of his career. Imagine if he had no injuries... Travis is second.
