There is a third option, which I thought would be your 2nd: build/acquire a gravity well frigate, and trap the Junkyard Dog corvette. That way, as long as it's trapped, you can concentrate all fire on it with little to no risk of it whisking away one of your capital ships. But to be fair, having the firepower of a small supernova works as well too it seems.
