Thanks, great demo showing an undocumented feature of the game's mechanics. Game takes total concentration and timing. We understand how difficult it is to parse words for a demo and run the battle at the same time. Cheers.
wow, I have unlocked the God War achievement today (meaning I have put 1000 hours of gameplay into R2TW) and still I had no idea I could do this!!! thanks for this demonstration! it never ceases to amaze me that there is always so much to learn in this game each time I play it
In my opinion (Cons): 1. Individual units in a formation move way too synchronized, more like a single entity than a group of people. 2. Formations turn on a dime in an unnatural way, with little to no latency. This breaks immersion for me; Rome 1 did it better, though not perfect. 3. Hyper-realism (no marked colors) gives barely any visual feedback of the odds. It is insanely hard to tell who's winning, how many units are left, etc. An option should be given for more colors. 4. Lack of unit collision (still only simulated by the new engine) makes charges dull and lackluster. 5. Missles' outlines are far too exaggerated (looking like lasers) These are the things I would love to see addressed in a Rome 3 or a Medieval 3 Total War. Rome 2 has come a long way since its release, but I still find myself auto-resolving most battles to avoid frustration. I almost never did that in Rome 1. Honorable mentions (Pros): 1. The campaign map is quite detailed, though not always clear whether a whole army can march by 2. Updated politics adds a lot to the campaign gameplay 3. Building cards, public order/food mechanic and tech are well thought out 4. Active general abilities are a neat addition 5. Variety of factions and units is excellent 6. Visually, the game is stunning and very detailed Overall (Who did it better?) Controllability - Rome 1 Combat (Engine) - Rome 1 Visuals (Practical) - Rome 1 Visuals (Realism) - Rome 2 Campaign Map - Rome 2 Campaign Depth - Rome 2
Holy molly, I remember that feature since medieval, but in Rome 2+ I thought they removed it and was pissed very much. Apparently, my severe despise of locked formation gave that headache to me. Now I gonna use it for sure
haha In TW I always lock my units when grouped. So sometimes when I ask my cav to charge a specific unit it attacks another unit. Now I know why. Thank you!
I'VE BEEN MICRO-MANAGING FOR SO LONG
Bruh
bruh i literally JUST found out
Mind blown. I have been playing since Rome and I always paused to issue individual attack orders
AT LAST, THE SECRET HAD BEEN REVEALED TO ME.
I had no idea you could do that, will definitely use it in the future.
Thank you for demonstrating this.
So this is how group AI works when ordered to attack. I kept fearing they would go for a single unit only

Had no idea about the group attack. That'll decrease my microing-stress by at least 11%
600 hours in the game... I never knew this until I accidentally discovered in Shogun 2 recently and wondered if it would work in Rome 2 as well 🤦♂️

1500 hours in Rome 2 alone, probably another 500 in medieval 2 before that, never knew this!!
Love how upset he got about the notifications talking over him when there was always a feature to disable them. Too bad this tip came too late. lel
hahaha. I've been playing since Medevil 1 and never found this out. thanks this is a great tip.
I was finding this thing before I try the game after buying new PC, THANKS A LOT BRO. That's a like and subscribe.
Thank you for this, I've been wondering how to do it for so long! Makes my terrible micro skills slightly less terrible.
I never knew this!!! I've tried out various battles using this and its made the game a million times better. Cant believe I never knew this.
Thank you very much, sir, this is exactly what I needed, since I am pretty good but my micro gets too much distressed due to individual targetting.
What of i wanna lock and want my grouo to hit 1 target. Say like for horse archers span.
here is 500 bud
I know I am really late on this. But thank you very much. This is truly amazing and will save me so much time now :)

This is great and all, but how do I micro manage 40 troops?
thanks for the tips Ace
Mind blown... never knew this.
Life saving for big battles on legendary difficulty

i installed Rome total war 2 but i cant know how i can attacking or defense or improve my Rome?

Thank you for showing this, much appreciated. :)

Is this feature exist in total war shogun 2 ?like you can let your ai group attack and defend and do the job themself ??please answer
Bro great video lmao I needed to know about this I always was moving at 2 times speed tryna get all my troops in the spots they need to be in 😂😂
The "G"control...is this useful for Rome total war and Medieval 2 total war?
Nikola Manevski Nope medieval 2 is about cavalry supremacy
This is an amazing tip! Thanks :D
By the way does this work for attila also? I tried it and it didn't work so far
Doooooope. Thanks for the tip. I had no idea and ive been playing for years
Doesnt work for me :/ they still all attack the one unit.
probably because you group but don't lock. They have to be grouped and locked. One cannot live without the other in a line attack order.
you glorious bastard.
Not works in Medieval 2 :(
Learned a lot, thank you!
Ty sir
Great tip, thanks.
This really helped me, thank you very much! I was pulling my hair out.
Thank u so much this is much easier
