today my dance class is doing the flexibility training, we are helping each other to stretch their legs to 180 degrees. but flexibility stretching is not easy, specifically at the beginning, it might looks like a little cruel, but it is very useful. like myself in this video, I nailed these stretching in the end. I am very cruel to myself which leads me to the success.

The students in the video are the professional dancers and have been studying for more than one year. The teachers have more than five years of teaching experience, so they dare to train students like this.
The students in the video are challenging to a higher level of flexibility, so the training of the teachers is more severe. But this kind of training is harmless because the students have already warmed up before the training, the bones and muscles have been totally relaxed, after the training, the students will get the corresponding auxiliary massage to eliminate the muscle pain.
Everyone has limited ability to withstand the pain, so you can see some of the students screaming or crying in the video, and some students are not. but This is good in flexibility training, the If it is not painful, it means that the student has not broken his own limit, then she will not make progress, and such pain is controllable. also screaming or crying helping them to relieve the pain, then they can hold in that position for enough time, that is the goal when doing the flexibility stretching.
In the title, it says that you have to be very cruel to yourself, but it is not true! If you push yourself super hard you could damage your body. I have been doing gymnastics for 3 years and I know that its not a lot, but pushing yourself to get the splits in very dangerous! I had to stretch a lot and slowly practice everyday to get my side and middle splits. These teachers don’t need to push their students this much! It is wrong to force an inflexible into splits when their body has not prepared enough yet. My coaches would never push us like this, gymnastics is supposed to be a safe and fun sport without tears. A little pain is good, but a lot is very bad! Let the girls go at their own pace and they will get flexible faster.
I totally agree with you. No position can be forced like that. It's not only painfull but really harmfull to the conective tissue (which takes longer to recovery than muscles). Yes they become flexible, but at what cost? In addition, that's not effective: as you might know, we ought be relaxed to stretch, pain signals in our brain make muscles to contract and extremely forcing a contracted tissue to stretch= muscle/tendón tears. Not to mention, they're creating a bad relationship between children and sports using "no pain no gain" as excuse. Those Kids are definetly forced to do so, they (and we all) should enjoy the process. Sports path it's not just roses, there are obstacles, but I think that happines helps us to create discipline. Real discipline, not just training because we're forced by the "no pain no gain"

And the girls in the video are screaming in pain they can easily leave the gymnastics class why would they do it if they are feeling unbearable pain they can leave it i had played baseball and from 2015 to 17 i was never told to practice hard even i played big matches with no practice and my as well as my full teams score was good and we used to win most of the time
These are uneducated teachers just to earn money they don't care about the students

sometimes forcing your body to do something not at its own time might be a risk ... i have done chinese dance and surprisingly my teacher never forced us.. she told us to take our own time to strech, little by little step by step , you might tear a muscle if u force to much
I am 11 and I take Chinese dance my teacher does not force us but she will make us do these stretches at our own pace

letting people push you down for flexibility is def a boost 😭 i had my brother push me down in my pike and the center stretch and i improved on it sm 😭 i got my splits a few weeks later

No pain no gain, absolutely amazing. Pain is temporary, glory is forever. It makes you appreciate how graceful a ballet dancer/ martial artist/ acrobatics/ contortionist, after all this intensive training. 🤯💞

Me in Muay Thay (Thay boxing) 🥊🩳 I had a stiff instructor who used this methodology, and he managed very well to open my legs to over 180 degrees.

When I was very young I was like 4 I would practice doing somersault and by the time I'm I was in kindergarten I practice doing cartwheels and stuff then when I was in grade 3 I was a bit flexible I would do the splits backbends then when I was in grade four I would learn how to do a back walkover and get up all by myself from a backbend and that's it like I would learn how to do things all by myself I never took gymnastics class and I would take lots of stretching videos and that's how I got really flexible and I won't stretch very much like a lot and sometimes I wouldn't stretch and sometimes I would but the pain shouldn't stop you from doing what you want but there's nothing wrong with stopping until you're ready so you just got to be prepared knowing what will happen you just got to do it if you want

I have been doing gymnastics for 4-5 years and this is not acceptable. They could brake there legs or ribs and hips anything in your body is fragile and you can't change that. But if they chose to do that then there putting there self's at a risk. Please do not do this. From freya.

Entonces ay UE hacer calentamiento para poder estirar los músculos. Ok, yo me acuerdo que mi profe de educación me dijo que no podes esforzar de golpe los ligamentos tendones podes tener un desgarre y no va ser nada lindo, ay como muestran en el video es horrible lo re esajeran y obligan así pueden terminar en el hospital :(

If you are in USA it is illegal to do this it is consider as child abuse, also don't force it these people will have major problems when they are older by forcing it!!! Ballet is not bad or hard on you like this in some countries. All depending where your at. Look up videos of your country to learn more.

I should be expecting I do lots of things by myself like stretching by myself like learning new to gymnastics tricks by myself but I want to do something like this hard I would make sure I'm well stretched and before I do any tricks I would stretch really well and then I will just do the tricks and yeah like I'll just do it by myself and make sure I'm not hurting myself and learn in my own limits like that stuff and yeah
