@ezerkid Well, the anime is based off of the game. Unlimited Blade Works (UBW) is one of the routes in the game.
Just wanted to clarify that this song has nothing to do with Shiro's love. The song glorifies Saber and mentions she will always be the people's "perfect king", "epic illusion". Everyone thought she was immortal, perfect, and emotionless. But now that she's dead it shows how she was human like everyone else in the country. She acted like an emotionless king but deep inside she had emotions, she was afraid of being lonely, she wanted friends, she knew love, and she also dies like all other humans
This song plays during the moment where Shirou kisses Saber, and afterwards, where she peacefully returns to her time and passes away under that same tree.
To which, I must ask: Are you still dreaming that same dream, King Arthur?

Returns to her time, eventually dies after -a-few-Holy-Grail-Wars-. After death instead of entering the throne of heroes, she enters Avalon. In last episode eventually Shirou is able to enter Avalon where saber is awaiting. Im guessing he also dies.
I will tell you all a story which happened to me many years ago during Valentines night. I dreamt that I saw a fair maiden. I knew her and she knew me. I on the other hand did not know her name. And then I woke up. But excatly a year later I dreamt her again on Valentines night. We danced, sat in front of a fireplace and even drove over desert together. And the warmth in my heart when I woke up....Silly isnt it? To be in love with a dream. But I wonder....when I go to sleep in the future, will I meet her for the third time? That sleep would probably be a...bit longer.

Type-Moon and ufotable need to re-adapt this route. This story honestly changed my life forever, beautiful and heartbreaking. I will wait until they decide to do it. I have faith it will happen one day. Until that day, I'll continue to cherish this story.
It also had a tremendous impact on me, I certainly would not have taken myself upon my path if it was not for seeing such things, I hope they remake it but doubt they'll do it as well as DEEN or the original VN team :(

Listening to this made me think. When I die will I be remembered? Did any of my actions have a positive influence on those who bore witness? Will I be missed? What can I do to make sure that the life I lived was worth it? Did my actions even matter? The answer that we or at least I can come to is nothing. Death is inevitable. It's pointless to force it. Even more so to let it be. In the end all we can do is keep moving forward. Keep living. Keep trying. Keep doing. The life we lead is not that of our own choice, nor our own accord. Bound by what society deems right. Restricted by rules. Do we truly view it that way or are we trying to fit in? Does our arrogance forsake all ideals and dreams? Does it create them? Oh sorry. I went a little deep there. Though it may have sounded like this song is nothing more than something that makes me sad that isn't the case. I cant help but find it beautiful and captivating and in no way bad. Because of how I find it I have made a decision to have it played at my funeral. I feel like this song may truly put me to rest when the time comes. Also I'm not depressed nor am I negative or a downer. Despite my writing I am auctually a suprisingly positive person.

i don't know, i've seen many anime, many movies, even girls in real life, none of them, none of them can even compare with Saber, she's just.....unique

Yes, this song is translated as "the lonely one". This song has absolutely nothing to do with Saber's love with Shirou. By "lonely", this song refers to how every people and knights hated Saber because she was too "emotionless". Saber thought that a king cannot protect the people with emotions. But despite her love for the country, nobody ever thanked her, but instead they hated her even more. This song shows how she was in reality emotionally hurt a lot when people hated her.

I was reluctant to watch the original FSN because I kept finding comments about it not being worth watching. But, I am so glad I did watch it. It was really captivating and the OSTs.... So damn good.

Deen didn't had those so that is why this Fate version is inferior for some reason.
@@hayden8571 auctually most of the fate community loved this original fate route. The one that your thinking of is unlimited bladeworks. In unlimited blade works the fights ended to quickly, the plot was half assed, crucial parts and info missing and it was overall a trash part of the fate series. In this route aka original fate route, there where barely any bad parts to it.

Don't worry they(Saber and Shirou) reunited in Avalon by merlin's help(FSN Last Episode VN) but the anime script was rushed so they forgot to add the proper ending

I love Saber.
For me, Saber will always be for Shirou. Wherever dimension of life Saber could be their love for each other will bring them again together. . Truly their love was an epic. I want to see more of them in Fate stay night. I hope they could do more of their love story ..some twist maybe.wahhh *crossedfinger:)

To me it reflects Saber's longing for Shirou, she is the "longing of all actions" for her knights and for heroes all over the world because she is an inspiration to people, YET she is doomed to be alone in her perpetual light, forever yearning the company of her lost companion..

I have no idea to this day what that Italian lady was singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I’d like to think she was singing about something so beautiful, it can’t expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, that voice soared higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was as if some beautiful bird had flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man on youtube felt free.

At the end of this anime, you understand it's not important where and how you die. What matters is the dream you lived and died for.

The Arturia route is the best route, I have no evidence but no doubts
Actually it does, the meaning of the song is in it's name - La Sola or the Only One.
It shows Shirou's curse - he wanted to save everyone but in the end he couldn't save the one he love the most - Saber.
The height of the song show us this: "For me the only one who has you no more."
At least we know that they had happy end in the end ( Realta Nua ending ).
What?? He did save Saber. Saber was able to let go of her regrets and die peacefully in her own time and not become a heroic spirit fighting for the pointless grail.

such a beautiful song. brings a tear to the eye every time i listen to it.
Literally it is "the lonely one", but when I translated the song for this video I chose to translate it as "the only one" cause in italian "sono la sola" means "im the only one" and not "im the lonely one"...in this case, I think it refers to Saber being the one that truly will lose her lover Shirou because she belongs to another plane of existence, and they will never see each other again after Fate.
I understand but she and Shirou are reunited at the end in Avalon but the script wasn't ready/rushed back then so they only added half of the ending

my translation fwiw... the singer is the lamenting lover of the fallen hero. The beginning describes a burial ceremony, and although the hero is preserved in purity for the people who admire him, the lover is left with nothing -- the only one who no longer has him.
I really hope when Ufotable remakes the Fate route, they'll allow this song to play again in it.
