Very well explained Sir. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I have question: The system has one pump only but it has 3 risers connected. 2 risers for wet stand pipes (with class 1 hose) and the other 1 riser is for the sprinkler and class 2 hose demand. How am I going to compute the total GPM capacity and the Total PSI requirement? I hope you could also create a video in this kind of system.

Thanks. If u have two risers for standpipes then u can (500gpm from remotest riser + 250 gpm from other riser) and run the calculations for standpipe. For sprinkler system u need to calculate the sprinkler demand including hose stream allowance. Third calculation will be done by considering two remotest class 2 fire hose cabinets. Which ever flow and head will be more consider that demand.

@@irfancfps Thank you sir for your swift response. Just to clarify, you mean that highest result among the 3 calculation results will be used for the pump capacity? Also sir, how am I going to compute the 3rd calculation that you mentioned if in case the two class 2 hoses are connected from the same Cross Main, wherein the branchline of the sprinkler are connected as well. I hope you'll have video in the future of combined system with riser and stand pipes.

Thanks sir Irfan, i just have one question, to determine the size of the fire pump, I performed sprinkler system hydraulic calculation and I got 500 gpm, for the remotest warehouse building, I have 3 more warehouse, is it proper to say we will add 3x250 gpm to the 500gpm so total would be 1250 gpm? Thank you so much. Likewise for class 3 what is the required flow and head pressure?

Hi, for sprinkler demand just we will consider remotest building only. We will not add as u said…we just add hose allowance with sprinkler demand.

I cannot say for sure but depends on hydraulic calculations

Thank you, could you kindly explain the ditances between risers in one floor if its area is too big, what is the area limitation and how much distance shall the risers be placed from each other. what is the normal hose length for 2.5 inch connection , Fire Dept Hoses, The number of risers that must be used calculation. I have read if the area is fully sprinklered so 200 ft 60 m is applied , if not 150 meter. so is it the criteria to be followed while chosing the number of risers provided one riser covers 50000 sq feet for LH and OH Occupancies?

As per my knowledge for each stair case one landing valve riser is must. and regarding the floor area for zoning, it will be applicable for sprinkler system and not for landing valve riser...for light hazard one zone will be maximum 4832 sqm...and so on...

Why do you not include the elbows (90s) between Node 1 and Node 2 also between Node 3 and Node 5

As a basic rule all the fittings shall be included in the calculations but should not be repeated. Please go through the video once again and decide yourself whether I missed those fittings or not. In case if I missed then definitely you need to correct accordingly
