Dear Irfan bhai, I am now facing problem to solve a problem. If fire pump room (Extra Hazard) lies inside the multi storied building (light hazard) and total building is protected by sprinkler system. Then as per hazard classification requirements shall I need to consider extra hazard design requirements or the principal hazard. If you have time please let me know your opinion.
Sprinklers in side the pump room will be considered as extra hazard and the office building will be designed according to light hazard

For Light Hazard As per Design Density curve: 0.1*1500= 150gpm Hose Stream allowance: 100 So total= (150+100)= 250gpm For Extra Hazard: design density curve 0.4*2500=1000gpm Hose Stream: 500 So, total = (1000+500)= 1500 gpm As per nfpa 14 for two standpipe 750gpm Now which one shall i need to consider???
Distance of flowmeter to either isolation valves should be as recomended by the meter manufacturer. This is as per NFPA 20 2022, A Explanatory notes, A.4.22.1.3 (1) and figure A.4.22.1.3(a) and A.4.22.1.3 (b)

Concept is same. However by using pipe schedule, loop size and grid size cannot be defined. It should be done using hydraulic calculations

Sir, as per NFPA 20 suction pipe shall be sized so that when the pump is operating at its maximum flow rate, which is 150% of its rated capacity. Is there any pertuculer condition to apply this or we shall apply to all fire pump rooms?
Suction pipe size for the pumps will be selected based on a table available in nfpa 20. So no need to worry about the 150% rated head capacity… please check my video on “fire pump room pipe sizing”

you use fixed flow rate for 2nd landing valve because the inlet pressure is higher, so fire fighters shall adjust the k factor of the nozzle. if you use same k factor, you may endup with higher flow rate at the pump.
