@@hiddengnome Thanks, but I literally found it 5 minutes ago, i was coming on to write a update on how I found it, you respond very fast considering how old this comment is.
There doesnt seem to exist any Torque on the main rotor in your example. In my experience the stabalised yaw from the gyro doesnt counteract the main rotors urge to yaw the helicopter.
Could you upload an updated version of this tutorial, after rotor changes this configuration is unstable it has both rotation to the left and actual lateral thrust I assume coming from the tail rotor, I'm struggling to fix these issues.
We noob creators get alot of help with that handy "gyro" sensor component so that we do not have to create our own straight away, which you should be able to do lator on when you are more advanced.
Hey Jersey, super nice and informative vids , thanks mate. Question: how to control yaw with 2 or 4 main rotors and no vertical rotor? Like for quadcopter or Chinook ))
For a two rotor Chinook Style heli i had the main rotors spin in the same direction, used YAW with an AND block on the roll stabilized input on the Gyro, but also an Inverterblock on the YAW signal for the rotor in the back. That made the chinook both YAW and roll.
Nice tutorial, it really helped me out a lot! Although I do have one question, my helicopter keeps wanting to turn (yaw) left and I don't know how to fix this. I know you probably won't ever see this but even if you don't nice vid! ;)
Try put gearbox to tail rotor and make it 3:1 or something, maybe it can fix this issue, not tested yet or search on youtube "Stormworks advanced torque" one man created/published controller that fixing yaw spin
Yeah I’ve given that a shot, no luck with any ratio I’ve tried yet and the ones that have gotten close end up shaking themselves apart once they clear about 10 m
I found a "workaround" for this issue. Use the old rotor. Go to selection grid -> load content -> presets -> advanced helicopter -> paste it -> steal the rotor. :/ It's a terrible workaround but I don't know any other solution rn
Nice tutorials for noobs like me. Am coming to this one a little late but my copy of your helicopter works fine except that in hover mode it won't maintain altitude even on full throttle and slowly sinks back down to the ground. Is this normal and should i then set up some logic on a switch to maintain current altitude?
For those of you who are watching this at 2023 (30/10/2023), this tutorial has been outdated. There are a lot of major changes, including physics, mechanics, components, and performance. That main rotor which has box square base was the old version before upgrading to the new version.
I have been testing helicopters for the past week and I can not make it work. So I came here and followed this step by step and is still not working for me. As soon as I start the engine, the helicopter starts to autorotate in opposite way to the main rotor, and it seems that the rotor tail is not able to hold against this. When the Gyro is without electricity the rotors balance themselves, but as soon as I give current to the gyro everything starts failing. I even tested with gearboxes for the tail rotor which reduced the problem but did not fixed it. Any insights?
So apparently building a helicopter is simpler than a boat. At least in my case, where in my first creation, I wanted an automatic clutch that would also automatically feather in the clutch rather than go bam.
@@freddieparrydrums I've got the same problem, did you find any solution? Edit: I found out that my medium engine was just to weak to lift the helicopter
my jet powered heli doesnt accept any control when it has enough power for lift it goes up a bit then spins every possible way (at first the back spins to the left then the right side goes up and it continues like that and the tail rotor doesnt do anything
I followed this using the advanced helicopter template, both rotors are set to neutral, but the thing violently spins out of control clockwise as if the tail rotor is over on positive with hard yaw. I've tried a number of things but all with the same result.
What if use not radiator but just air, pumped into cooling system by main rotor and after passing it through engine to let out heated air together with exhaust gases? Im always using that method. If ingame was realized air stream directed out of main rotor and it can be passed into tube system, that's perfect method, estabilish cooling power dependens on a rotor work.
Can someone help? My Helicopter keeps rolling to the left, I have tried multiple things to fix it like gear boxes, more blades, and others. But it still rolls
This tutorial probably outdated. Also, that old rotor blade which has 3x3 base was removed and replace with the new one. The new one now generated torque which is why kept yawing to the right.
My heli. keeps slowly circling (clockwise) and strafes to the left. Im usingthe gyro with auto hover, the CoM is directly below the main rotor (and low down by the landing skids),has a recent update screwwed over helicopters? Edit: The rotors are all neutral, the wind is turned off, and the Gyro is wired correctly (the craft handles as expected when inputting controls, but once I stop inputting it levels out and slowly drifts left and turns right)
Invert the rear rotor so arrow + pointing at the left while - pointing at the right side and directly connect the yaw gyro to the rear roll as they will spinning opposite direction
For me every helicopter i make, 4 of them, spins in circles no matter if it should work or not. Even the exact replica of this helicopter I made still didn't work.
Hi. I've tried doing this tutorial twice now but it hasn't worked either time. It just spazzes out uncontrollably. The autohover doesn't work either. I've got no control over roll, pitch or collective and I've tried everything in the comments. I've followed the tutorial very closely and made sure to copy everything from the number of blocks to the colours. Can someone pls help?

Keeping the Center of Gravity directly under the center of the rotor also makes hovering easier. Just a general tip for people.

This may be the only MrNJersey 3-year-old tutorial that is still up to date since developers hadn’t messed with him on this one.

Check if your helicopter is pointing in the right direction (the ground arrow in construction mode).
In the newest update things explode a lot and so does this. How can I fix this?

Do you need to use a medium battery?
The engine just goes into thermal runaway. May want to direct people to a video on how to fix that in the description.
Thermal runaway?
Is the temperature always at 100?
it isn't, it depends on how you set up the cooling and the engine
when i make a helicopter similar to this is just spazzez out and glitches everywhere, and tips?
Coolgame4me gaming think you need to turn down the rps in some sort of way

not sure why but when i try to move around the helicopter jitters like crazy and flips out of control
nevermind i fixed it by making the weight more centered
