Just an FYI to anyone attempting this: Be careful when starting the spark plugs. I always start them with the extension by hand to make sure they are threading in nicely before I attach a wrench to it. You risk cross threading them when you start them with a wrench. Your dealing directly with the cylinder head so you do not want to mess that up. Great video man!
Should also tighten with a torque wrench.
The engineer that decided to use an allan key instead one of those pop off things. So you have to take off all that just to get the engine cover must be clinically insane!

Sick vid bro🔥 just a lil advice for anyone when putting in the new spark plugs thread it in gently by hand on the extension bar then tighten with the ratchet/tool or cross threading can happen which can be a costly mistake.

CARL IS ONIT went to get the spark plugs and just like one would expect with a euro motor, each one is $17.99 AUD. I wish that was the biggest issue. To avoid a repeat performance in a few months, I’m replacing all 6. logical but every place I call has to do a special order! BMW seem as bad as Apple! I’m expecting to see “this accessory is not supported” on my dash once it’s done and I do the diagnostic check!

A little advice from my side, because I had that problem: In case you're having problems with the engine stuttering (the n43 is unfortunately known for this happening), it's most likely a problem regarding the ignition coils! I changed mine from bosch to delphi rev3 and also used ngk spark plugs. The bosch ignition coils are known for heating up too much and break. So, if you ever have a problem with the engine not running smoothly, keep that in mind!

I don’t have a petrol one of these but I remember having a conversation with the mechanic who serviced my diesel convertible and he owns a petrol, he said he removes the strut brace when he changes the plugs, you managed to do the job without

As others have said, be really careful with the first spark plug, the one at an angle by the cooling fan at the front.
My car had a misfire, so went to change spark plugs and cylinder 1 (front of engine bay) was cross threaded!! Had to get a specialist out to remove and retap the head. Thankfully he could do it without removing the head, it cost £150 though.
I still have problems with cylinder 1 to this day though, the plugs and coil packs did work for a bit but it seems cylinder 1 doesn't like working properly. Could be an injector i suppose at this point but cba with it. I just try and avoid it going into limp mode by driving like a granny lol

Torque wrench is a must! The settings is 23Nm and that's VERY IMPORTANT!

what are the measures those spark plugs ? i mean if this M12x1.25 or M14x1.25 ?

However, this is not the correct procedure on how to tighten the plugs.
You either:
1. Tighten them BY HAND (no tools) and then using a torgue wrench tighten them to the correct spec.
or
2. Tighten the BY HAND (no tools) and then using a wrench like yours , tighten them by 1/4 of a turn.
Love your channel, sad to see the e88 go.
Keep it up with serious mods (no rice please :) )

Do you not need to check the spark plug gap? Are they pre gapped already?I got them from euro car parts. Great video, am gonna try tackle this myself. It so much easier on other cars though
You can do the reason I installed the ones in the description is because they came pre-gapped 👍🏾💯

Thanks for the vid. This helped get to my spark plugs. Only problem is, the size tools I had wouldn't get any hold of the spark plugs in the engine. Used an extension bar with a 14mm 3/8 socket. They fit the new sparks going in, just not the ones inside! Could it be that the previous owner used different sparks or incorrect ones should I say? Or is there a tool you have listed on the info of your vid that I need to get these ones out? Guessing it be that wobble socket you used? What different would that make compared to my simple 14mm 3/8 I have?
Also the car is a 2007 e87 1.6i 1 series
Richings110 no worries. I’ve listed all the equipment you would need in the description, in your case you would need the wobble in order to remove them I did the same thing with a normal 14mm but BMW placed them in an awkward position hence you would need the wobble

Apologies in advance if this is an obvious question. I have a 116i e87 2.0 petrol. I ordered some spark plugs before I watched your video. They are 16mm and not 14mm like your ones. Would these be the wrong size then? I need to buy a removal tool so I'm a bit confused as to what size to buy, 14mm or 16mm. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
ADot I believe they would be 16mm which means you’ll need a 16mm removal tool with a wobble as the 116i is the n46 engine

Hamza Bayya The 120i made from 2007-2011 will always be the higher power version using N43B20 engine, however the 118i also shares the same engine but it’s the detuned version, you will be fine with any 120i you choose 👍🏾💯

Yeah mate where my car was parked, knocking and misfiring. There was a garage right in front of me, how lucky rolled it there. Cuz it dint sound nice. And i couldn't service it my self where it was or move it. I was in a dilemma, am learning alot about cars now and gonna do it all my self. Anyway it was spark plugs and coil. I paid 150 lol I know I could of done it my self am gonna look after her now she sounds better and runs better got more bhp lol. And am getting on a full service. Its all good. Sound

My 120d is showing the glow plugs sign is this related to the coil pack??
Cameron Pickett this wont have anything to do with the coil pack as diesels don’t have any, but when was the last time the glow plugs were changed?
Unless it’s below zero degrees the glow plug light goes out when you press the starter button so it could be a sensor as BMWs seem to have lots of them, you need to get it checked out though as the glow plugs aren’t just for starting the vehicle. They need to be careful if they need to be changed over as a broken one could mean engine work to remove what’s left, bit like removing the root of a wisdom tooth

Mine was good quality you may need to get some double sided tape to stick it on but other than that it is decent 👍🏾

You would need a wobble spark plug socket a fixed one wouldn’t allow you to get access to it
