    Harli, a few important things to consider when dealing with plants from Indonesia. Keep in mind the sellers there usually grow the plants in rice husks so they’re very likely to rot in a more retentive mix, even an aroid mix. Secondly, no need to cut off leaves that have begun to yellow until they’re fully yellow. The plant is still photosynthesizing and will remove all nutrients when it’s ready...the leaf will then turn yellow and can be cut off

All of our plants came in beautiful with awesome roots. I got a anthurium magnificum, only lost one leaf after repotting. A verrucosum, that came with one damaged leaf, but is doing well. And a pictum tricolor too, it is doing awesome also, but wasnt quiye as large as yours. I definitely will be ordering from them again. I didn't notice a smell.

      If you kill them because they don't get enough water, just water them once a week, just put an alarm and make it a habit. If you kill them because you give them too much water, also water them once a week and not too much. If you already do that and it's still too much, just add half a week to that. Cacti and succulents in my opinion need to be watered max once a month and usually not at all in the winter.

      She would probably have to eat more than half that plant to get more than a stomach ache. It’s the calcium oxalate that the zz produces that is toxic, the same things that human kidney stones are made of. Touching them can cause mild skin and eye irritation, and ingesting them causes internal tissue irritation, so you get stomach bug symptoms basically. A very small child or animal eating the whole plant could probably ingest enough to be fatal, but it’s not as toxic as an oleander and we grow those all over the place in public and our back yards

    to comply with the photo cert the roots have to be dirt free and cleaned - this often includes a dip in chemicals to clean and remove nasties that's likely the smell

      Yes the fungicides they use stink, nepenthes from Sri Lanka that are sent with phyto and cites certs for with that smell from the fungicides as well. It's a very potent fungicide and should be fine twice before planting

      Astrid Ekko well is being very little information but kinda enough for me.
      1) I prefer bare roots because I make sure they are healthy
      2) The soil can’t be wet if the root is dry because the plant will rot. But if I put a plant to grow roots on water when I transplant I need to make sure the soil is wet so is not so stressing for her and also rot.
      3) Find the % of humidity of where I live so I can prepare a good soil depending on the plant (roses don’t use the same soil as cactus for example)
      4) Ask as much as I can about the cares and environment of the plant so I can prepare an space similar
      5) Not expose the plant like the ones that I already have (for example direct sunlight, 2/3 days of rain, fertilizers etc) give her time to let me know what she wants and need
      6) RUclips videos with people that has similar conditions to mine (I live in Costa Rica, we don’t have season is either raining or hot sunlight) so I have more information on how to take care of it
      7) And not get desperate
      8) Adaptation (2/3 hours of filter light, 1/4 cup of water, add slow release fertilizer etc) is a bit complicated but once you find the trick stays with you forever
      Good luck 🙏🏽🌿

    the word jury/jerry/jimmy rigged actually has a neat history. jury rigged is a word sailors used around the 17th century (possibly stemming from the word injury, hence (in)jury rigged)), then jerry rigged came in WWII (jerry was a nickname for German troops), and the new-age version is jimmy rigged. so anyways technically all of them are right lmao

    • @leorising8074
      @leorising8074 4 года назад

      tinybitterror not to be crass, but there is also another rigged that is very racist that I’m curios about. Do you know the history behind that one?

    • @tinybitterror7771
      @tinybitterror7771 4 года назад

      the term (which i wont say here, but you can look it up on the "jury rigging" wikipedia page under similar phrases) youre talking about originated in the 1950s, and was/is used to describe inferior/careless fixes. its pretty offensive so id rather not describe it any more than that, out of respect for harli

    • @thequeen3037
      @thequeen3037 4 года назад

      To the original poster: "Jerry" is just as derogatory as the word you would otherwise use, but are not typing "out of respect for Harli" 🙄
      And to the moron who feigns curiosity but is somehow unable to type their query into Google: sterilization is your best option.

    • @tinybitterror7771
      @tinybitterror7771 4 года назад +1

      as far as im aware, jerry is only seen as offensive by some people, while other people use it synonymous with jury/jimmy. i did state the new-age version was jimmy rigged (as it is more politically correct), but i apologize if you felt i was being ignorant.

      its the same for USA, but an import certificate is something you as the buyer has to get. The phytosanitary certificates are on the sellers end. They have some health dept or other government official has to say that the nursery has been inspected and the plants are free from controlled diseases or pests. They are required for legal transport across international borders. One of the international vendors sites I looked at recently said they would send without and leave the live plant stickers off if the buyer wanted to try it, but that the buyer took the risk of customs confiscating plants. If I was spending at least $75 in planting materials I know I wouldn't want to risk that for a $25-35 phytosanitary certificate.

    • @Selestrielle
      @Selestrielle 4 года назад

      Please update when you get the plants! I looked at the government's website and they say it takes a permit alright... but they don't mention any minimal number of plants. I was under the impression you needed to get the permit for *any* order.
