I do think Tepper jumped the gun here. What Stroud is doing is nothing short of amazing and it's not fair to hold every first round QB to that standard.
He doing amazing but also we dk how good CJ would be with the Panthers or how good Bryce would be if he went to the Texans.

One of the few things David Tepper did right. He doesn't put the pressure on Bryce that he has to be better than CJ and he doesn't say Bryce was the wrong choice. He says both are great prospects and he says he is believing both of them will be great NFL QBs. Perfect answer on that question

I don't care what any organization will tell you. At the end of the day you got a 50/50 shot at best of a qb panning out in the nfl. Playing QB in the NFL is a hard job.

Things won’t change for Bryce because he needs to be on a team that is already doing good and good teams already have a decent qb. Only bad teams would try to get Bryce and he will be right back into the same situation. Bryce is having a terrible first season and nobody has time to wait for him to develop especially when he was in high demand and tanked.
I have no idea what you are hearing that you think is a slight towards Young in any way. Plenty of interesting stuff happens in sports we dont need to try to invent controversy.

Panthers are lacking in all aspects of the game. Take away two great players, To draft up and build uo your O lone, draft a good receiver. How can a QB develop when doesn't even have time to get off a play. Time to rebuild and move on from this debacle. They obviously had a conflict in the choosing if the QBs. Throwing each other under the bus shows your theur level if respect for one another. Bring in Harbaugh. Let him build Bryce into a good QB and lets get a few more good draft picks. They need to build from the ground up. Starting with some weapons to throw to. Thielen is decent but thats about all they have on offense. Props to CJ on Having an awesome year, we let one slide by but there will always be room for improvement.
Van we stop anointing C.J. Stroud the second coming of Warren Moon? There will be plenty of seasons to decide which QB is better. Bryce has little talent around him to showcase what he can do. And even if he did, developing an NFL QB is not a 1 year proposition. All that said, I think for the most part HCs deserve 3 seasons to make their mark ... unless it's obvious that the HC is in over his head (Nathanial Hackett in Denver).
It's one of the most boneheaded trades in recent memory. They gave up Moore and next years first and didn't even get the best Qb. It's not like Stroud has a great roster in Houston either. But he elevates those around him and his bigger and has a better arm than Bryce.
Mahomes was a stud first year he played. What Stroud is doing is the real deal. It's no fluke.

Yeah I do not get what they are saying here. I am not a Tepper fan by any means. I think he is bungled his ownership. Making quick Qb moves. Like Sam Darnolds... Giving up picks etc. And I do think that giving up the farm for Bryce Young was a really bad move. On record about that. But I did not hear how this made Bryce Young look so bad in his comments.

Don’t really see anything wrong here. College players that look incredible in college dont always translate that success to the NFL and vice versa. As a Niner fan, I understand that more than ever right now.
Bryce Young is not the problem. Don't care what quarterback you have. If you don't have any good receivers, a good offensive line, a good running game and also when the damn owner is firing head coaches left and right and now has 6 different head coaches in 48 months, yeah blame the owner and the GM, not Bryce Young. Do you all think that if CJ wasn't playing at the level that he is and the Texans were losing games like everyone thought they would, would the Panthers be in such shambles and fired your coach. Fact is Tepper told Young at the super bowl that he was going to draft him. After all this explaining, Tepper admitted he could veto any of the staffs decisions on which qb to draft. Which he did. Then saying 'I believe it was unanimous to take Bryce I think'. Isn't that how an untruthful person speaks? He's covering his ass and won't admit he overruled his staff. That's also why Frank didn't GAF about the season. Frank gets paid and plays Teppers kiddo even though he struggled while Dalton could win the division. DALTON could have WON THE DIVISION. Facts

What are you talking about? Tepper said he stays confident in the pick. He just simply denied reports that said that he overruled the opinions of the coaching and scouting staffs to pick Young instead of Stroud and explained their decision-making process

This man has been sacked 40 times this year. It’s not the quarterback. It’s the terrible o-line, no good receivers to throw too, and terrible coaching.
Sam Howell been sacked 50+ times and top 3 in passing yards. Weeks 1 and 2 combined Stroud was sacked 11 times and still threw 242 and 385. Bryce just isn't it man. All his "improvising" and play making in college just further covered up the bad footwork, poor throwing motions, lack of pre snap reads and terrible arm talent beyond 15 air yards. He's not a pure pocket passer. Unfortunately, with his physical limitations....it's twice as hard for him to do in the NFL what he did in college

Stroud went to an emerging, young texans team. He also has a much better staff around him and demeco ryans looks like hes going to be a great HC. Stroud is still doing insanely well and mvp imo, but i dont think he would do much better than bryce on that panthers team. I think bryce young will be totally fine and turn into a drew brees type after being in the league for a few years. Just as long as carolina doesnt completely fuck him up for life.

Its been common knowledge that they were prepared to trade up yo number 2 with Chicago. Until that miracle last game between the texans and colts. Peter King unraveled all of this months ago when he did his deep dive behind the scenes.

You can't buy a championship in a salary cap league. These teams all spend around the same amount of money. If you went around the league and picked the 5 best players from each team 9 times out of 10 they would be players drafted by that team. The Rams are the only team in recent history to assemble a team largely thru free agency and their best player(Donald) was drafted by them.

I really don't understand the issue here. He said that all parties agreed to take Bryce Young overall, and he's happy with their decision at the time, but they also had a contingency plan that if they could only get Stroud with the 2nd pick, they were happy to draft him as well. You can be pissed off if you're a Panthers fan but the reality is that most teams would have taken Bryce over Stroud and this was not like some controversial pick at the time. Bryce looks awful but I don't like the impatience of not letting these rookie QBs have any time to grow before calling them busts.

The Texans were actually bad enough to deserve the top pick, and their rookie is leading them to a wild card spot. The panthers had to trade UP to get their rookie which is leading them to a worse record than before.

When will NFL teams learn that rookie QB's need to sit for 1-3yrs before they become a starter, doesn't matter if they were picked in the top 10 or 5th round. Playing QB in college is completely different from playing QB in the NFL, even NFL great QB's struggled in their first yr if not first couple yrs (Peyton, Montana,etc.)
💯 a lot of the great QB’s sat a year or two to learn. I’m not sure why that has changed the last decade.

I honestly have no issue with anything said. I don't think Bryce would either. Are we assuming he's so fragile and insecure that the mere mention of CJ would send him to into a deep depression or something?
He explained their process, said the vote was unanimous, and that he agreed with it when it got to his desk.
He also made it clear they viewed CJ as an acceptable second choice, but they firmly believed Bryce was the best option.
And then made sure to explicitly state that their opinion of Bryce being the better choice remains unchanged.

This man said nothing at all to warrant Bryce asking for a trade. If he follows this advice he'll be the James Harden of the league before he gets any sort of chance to see what he can do. Fans are too quick to throw in the towel. I can see firing coaches, but players demanding a trade in the middle of their rookie year is something that shouldn't be promoted.
