One of my friends has an s-10 that is technically their parents, and they thought the alternator was going bad, and I suggested the serpentine belt and we will see what happens

You could keep all belts supple by periodically spraying them with 303 Protectant , water based .

My taurus has a seperate water pump belt. It doesnt look bad but has a squeak. No temp problems.could it be the belt has strected a little and not making contact.praying its not the pump

I first heard the screeching and I thought it was a hose or something...wow.. It was until my car just stopped working and I discovered the belt broke and my car is working fine and it's silent..
Can it make your transmission shift different..sometimes it feels like it's jerking into 2nd and then if I'm driving down the road and let off the gas it acts like I just got the gas again
Unfortunately no. That’s transmission. Hopefully you have an open system in which you can check your dipstick for fluid level and quality. Start there
