@@lauralunaazul I'm afraid so. 8 years ago, from leukemia, aged 71. She had been diagnosed 6 years earlier but kept it quiet so that she could still get get projects financed or insured. Too soon :-/
Sometimes I'll be minding my own business and suddenly "Elaine, I mean, what about Elaaaine" will pop up in my mind out of the blue and cannot stop giggling from them on. Genius woman.
i dont know how many times i've teared up thinking about nora ephron no longer being with us. without realising it until it was too late, she had such an impact on me and my life, especially the relationship i've had with my mother (our love for sleepless in seattle and you've got mail is one of the few things that bring us close) and now this smart, witty, clever, courageous human being was taken from us. such a loss to women everywhere, and such a loss to the world.
Not every writer also has the voice to deliver the message, Nora is one of those writers with a comedic actor inside her writing skills......maya angelou is another....brilliant women, deeply funny and emotional deliveries of solid fresh writing skills, i could listen to both women endlessly❤❤
During Nora Ephron's remarks regarding Mike Nichols, the camera pans to Elaine May, who is seated with her companion Stanley Donen, the iconic director of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Funny Face, Singin In The Rain, Charade and Bedazzled. Ephron wrote the novel Heartburn, and adapted it for the screen; the film was directed by Nichols and starred Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.
Absolutely spot-on use and timing of the F-word! If anyone can still be offended by it, it is utterly beyond me, here and now in 2020. Oh and I LOVE to see people really laughing, as they do throughout this great clip (AND Elaine May's brilliant clip, too).
Dear Nora: The world is a grayer place such we learned about your passing. My only consoling thought is that you will make heaven a much livelier, funnier place! Lucky angels. Ruth Broyde Sharone
Rare nowadays to see funny women being funny on award showd but not at the expence of men. Now they sound more like an angry person who doesn't get their way, demand respect, and blame it on men while they know they didn't do the effort.
Nora was flipping brilliant, RIP.
this speech made my day. we miss u, Miss Ephron. R.I.P
She s dead ?

What an incredible writer and screenwriters of movies. She is also a great speaker - Gosh I love her speech to Mike Nichols.
This is why she's such a great writer
Both Elaine May & Nora Ephron brilliant women. Not many like them now.
Not many people like them. Include men in that group ;)
Of course there are, we just belittle them to defer to criminal & or transsexual males.
They are Legends truly ❤❤

Though not particularly well remembered now, in the 1920's & 30's Nora Ephron was an important comic writer. Yay Nora!
Wait...if that was a joke, it was funny. If you were serious, then it was sad.
She was born in 1941.
