Pilothouse Confessions: Ep 6 | How to start buying a boat: Step 1... Find a Buddy Boat

Ahhh... unedited and choc full of wisdom... or however you would like to categorize this latest confession... at least the kids are cute 😬
One of our greatest lessons in starting out in boat world was finding a buddy boat. Honestly we had no idea this was even a thing before we got parked next to the greatest boat buddies we could ever ask for.
Luckily for us when our boat was hauled out this past spring for some work on the hard, our boat got parked next to a catamaran with a liveaboard family. They were (and are) much more seasoned than us... we knew NOTHING. They were so gracious in sharing their knowledge and time with us as we got a mind blowing lesson in boats.... we are forever grateful for their friendship and guidance.
If you are curious about buying a boat to live on I encourage you to go to marina's and boat shows and anywhere else boaters might be and ask questions, connect with people... boaters LOVE to talk about their boats.
Just figuring out what other boaters are doing to their boats, why they chose those boats and how they are able to afford it... can really help you start to figure out which kind of boater you are. Are you an aspiring salt? Or are you a fair weather cruiser?
