What I love about Berezovsky's playing in comparison to other pianists, especially in Liszt, is his marvelous technique. I have seen this transcendental etude been played with many wrong notes by other pianists. Berezovsky plays with almost no wrong notes, furthermore, his legato line can be heard. His tone is masculine, not harsh, and very accurate. What can any of us say but bravo.

This truly is wonderful. Btw, have you watched Alexander Malofeev's performance of this at his China competition...very wonderful also. Both pianist giants. I believe Berezovsky plays this quite a bit faster than A.M. Not sure, it's been awhile since I listened to it.

It’s impossible to imagine a human being being able to actually PLAY these “fiendish beasts”!!! But we see it here in real life! Don’t think “photoshop” was at work here! The studio people should have had the common sense & courtesy to have had some air circulation (AC?) on Boris as he sweated off 10 pounds as he played!!! Shame on them! I like the Mephisto Waltz (#1?) better, but this is just another magnificant piece of nearly impossible piano music to thrill us!!! “Gesundheit”! Wonder what Boris had to eat before he gave this fantastic performance?! Must have been “spiked with uppers”!

I’ve watched hundreds of solo piano performances on RUclips and this one still blows me away the most. The HD(?) footage, crystal clear audio, technical difficulty and brutal tempo.
Honest question, is there any finer solo piano performance on RUclips in terms of technical difficulty and quality of footage? There’s some more difficult Alkan pieces played by Hamelin, but the footage is old and grainy.
