First one torqued up to the point that you could see the difference in the gap between cab and bed, top to bottom. And it didn't go back even, either. Likely that truck is never gonna track straight again.
Good to know that these cummins are great for towing. I have never owned a Dodge and am skeptical about how reliable they are. I needed a new service truck for work and ended up buying a 98 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie 24 valve dually. Already got the bed off and bought a flatbed for it. Just gotta put a new bearing in the turbo and that thing is gonna tow the shit out of a skid steer.
Humm!!!! Which one bent the frame? I watch six trucks pull and not one bent the frame. Now the first Dodge looked like he was starting to bend his frame but when he got done with his pull the pickup box realigned with the cab. So I'm just wondering if you know what a bent frame looks like????
Love how the duramax pulled the farthest. I'm from Columbus. Where cummins hq is at. And good lord all anybody talks about is those damn cummins. It gets old .
I know its always time to go to the bathroom and get some pizza or whatever when the diesel class comes up. Its like watching an antique tractor pull or paint dry. Remember the good ole days of 8000 rpm blown injected hemis destroying our ears with the individual headers coming through the hood. Now that was truck pulling.
amurican35 That's what a performance exhaust sounds like on a diesel. What typically gives you that "characteristic V8 rumble" on a gasoline engine sounds like this on a diesel.
I love truck pulls but does anyone else realize how bad rollin coal is for the engine? like really bad! it puts excess stress on the crankshaft from all the unburnt fuel and makes the pistons way hotter than they should be, it basically is destroying the engine you gotta do more than just buying a tuner and pressin a few buttons to make it just blow black smoke. a non smoking diesel will outperform a smoking one any day anywhere every time
not really dude.. it puts excess wear and tear on the engine and heats up things way beyond where they are supposed to be... I should know im in college for this stuff
***** that's why dodge has the biggest tow - load capability right? The frame bent why? It wasn't a stock engine it doesn't matter if it was a ford or chevy. roxas the rogue The part on the Dodge truck that is dependable is the Cummins engine and it has nothing to do with dodge. The rest of the truck, you can keep.
Won'tRespond you think that 80's, 99's and early 2000 Dodges had better transmissions???? Their front ends were worse than the twin I beam in Fords. C'mon, bro.....

ha thanks, and your right but i think i remember powerstrokehelp saying it was designed in germany or something and thats why it had some fuel issues because there fuel is alot cleaner than ours.
Duramax did ok, But it will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER out pull a CUMMINS!! Just learn to deal with the truth DURAMAX owners. It has way more FT-LBS of torque than Duramax will think of having. Leave it to Cummins on pulling power and Duramax to the speed so you can haul your wives to the hair dresser, and grocery store faster... hahahaha
Look for tim jackson in his riding dirty durmax truck was unbeatable for it's 1st season no cummins could touch it unless he has problems which he only had a few.. check it out it'll giving you the new meaning to how a durmax runs i seen him pull many time's and seen the truck up close he has a new one coming out in 2014 and it'll be unstoppable
LightButDark575 You need to get your head checked. Ill give it to dodge for the better engine "shame their transmissions are crap" But when it comes to looks the ford has it all day. And a close second is the Chevrolet.
I had an 86 CHevy 1 ton dually that out pulled a dodge 3500. The Cummins is the better and more powerful motors, with longer life and better performance overall. the simple raeson the chevy with the duramax went further is simple mathematics. Its called your rear axle ratio.
i need to correct myself. if you attach the truck to 30,000 pounds(bumper) that has been there 2 years and has sunk in the dirt,in about 5 seconds, the transmission spools up enough to turn all 4 wheels and do a burnout,as long as it is anchored to something solid
William Mauldin Correct. If this was Britain and he wanted to drive that on the road it would never pass an MOT test (MOT = Ministry of Transport, MOT test is an annual test of roadworthyness)
I was under the impression the 6.0 was built by Navastar International. Who was it built by? I have to say your comment was a damn sight more civilized then the rest. Thank you.

You are correct. Black smoke blah's. Working for International of Denver, in the dyno room, top power building Diesel engines, blew out about an eighth of what we see here. And unbelievable amounts of power. Turbo's get so hot they are almost transparent.
friction of the skid plate and weight shift stops the truck the box reads old ironsides is the weight box as they pull forward bring more weight onto the skid plate on the ground
Uh, you can have an intake with a turbo. The turbo has a pass-through, with vanes in the center. Air goes in one side. You put your intake on this side. The other side goes to the intake manifold. The exhaust manifold piping is routed through the outside of the turbo vanes to make them spin and pull in and compress extra air. The exhaust then goes to the exhaust pipe of the car. You got it?
not trolling or being a smart ass but how long would it take one of these Dodge to erase it's carbon foot print? Doesn't seem possible with any vehicle......except a bicycle. But either way for what i mostly use a car for which is driving to work by myself or just me and the baby I would rather drive a Prius or the new Ford C-max at ~50 mpg that said i still roll with my gas guzzling pickup for Home Depot runs and for towing I can pay for the cost of a used Prius with the gas savings alone.
callmebigpapa ..carbon footprint? Man is 3% contributor to total carbon emissions on this rock..forest fires, volcanoes, are the 2 main issues..dude, we are riding a fireball through space and time...this thing burps carbon...
ya man i work at a shop, for diesels we mostly see 6.0l powerstrokes for egrs and 6.7l cummins for dpfs that could be because theres less duramax's in town but ether way they all have there lil flaws and there all amazing trucks
really doesn't matter who makes them lol probably the most reliable diesel engine made and this is coming from a cummins owner.... im sure others will have different opinions and thats ok (i dont want this comment to start any fights)
Its power We had a Powerstroke on a Ford F350 before but the engine went away on..on the 2nd pull of our 16,000 pound trailer we got a Dodge 2500... it pulled in 1st gear with no press of the gas needed, we had to use half of the throttle at 4000 RPM for the Ford Cummins Engines just have more power. We just sold the trailer for an RV with a 350 Cummins.. over 900 ft. pounds of torque 2001 Monaco Diplomat
most of the people whining about the smoke don't understand how a diesel engine works or how sled pulling classes work... sure he can build the truck to not smoke with twins and nitrous, but that puts you in the unlimited power class with the guys that have unlimited money to spend on their engines and generally are running tractors with huge diesel engines in them... you'll never win a competition like that because they will put a 500hp truck in the same class as a 5,000hp truck..
@Caliber244 the soot is unburned carbon compounds. this can happen due to a change to larger injectors or just regular wear on the engine. it happens mostly in colder temperatures due to the fuel not being full combusted. So ya you've got the right concept.... ;)
It wasn't as far off as I thought, but it still looks close. I am judging by the blade, mind you. It looks like they both are around the white/red line. Where I am looking?
Coulda named it "Guy waves flags". Woulda been way more accurate
Good one son
Or "the one guy in town with a duramax"
I saw the frame bend.
You know what has 200 legs and seven teeth ??? The front row of this event
LMFBO
Damn Im gonna need those 6 minutes one day
Yep! Ain't gettin' no refunds on this one.
This is the best analogy I have ever heard about these trucks!!!
I can fix it. My dad's a television repairman and he has the ultimate set of tools.
Ok, Spicoli
To me the only frame damage I seen was the first one where the bed was barely slanted back.... Idk, just wasted my life lol
he got a heart from the poster for it tho :P so we all did something right I think
@@crackerjack4833 I was waiting & waiting. Left wanting. Lol.

Yeah didn’t see any frame destruction.. waste of time
First one torqued up to the point that you could see the difference in the gap between cab and bed, top to bottom. And it didn't go back even, either. Likely that truck is never gonna track straight again.
@Warren Makes sense. These do not appear to be road going trucks.
Well. That was crap !!
Right at 33 seconds, u hear it then u can see the bent frame
Cummins is the engine in the truck, one of the best diesels id have to say
Notice the Duramax went the farthest and didn't break like half the Dodges. Haha that's a real truck
I watched the whole video and didn't see any truck that broke a frame?!?!?
That Dmax sounded mean as fuck

Piece of shit.
Downside is fuel economy, I prefer a Duramax anyway
Vague Memory The only thing worth in a Dodge is the Cummins Diesel Engine.
Joker THANK YOU!!! Dodge sucks.
You made my day with that comment, well put mate. Big thumbs up
love the 7.3s and the 6.0s when done right they're awesome trucks and there is not one other engine on this earth that sounds as kick ass as they do!
None of these are 7.3s or 6.0s. 5.9 cummims is what they are but the 7.3s are a good motor but the 6.0s have a terrible reputation😂😂
that's why I read comments before watching
Nature is loving this competition!
Rollin coal dont hurt anything, the smog is too heavy to rise in the atmosphere, and it falls and stays to the ground.
Yeah, nature doesnt involve ground.

just because i don't. is a cummins a model that dodge sells or is it based on aftermarket parts?

You mean a turtlemax?
kevin steiner Ive waxed a lot of Chummins in mine
they pulled about the same..... all trucks are good it just depends on how you treat them.
Im from columbus Indiana too!
The only reason they brag of dodge is because it has a Cummins in it.. take out the Cummins turbo diesel, it’s a hunk of shit.. simple as that
the duramax did pretty good!

how do the trailers work to stop the trucks? are they digging in to the ground or something?
Gotta love them dodges!
No Fords were invited, Duramax sounded like lawnmower but pulled.

Didn't see a frame break. Mission failed for who ever titled this vid.
You didnt see the very first truck bend like an accordion. His tires had to be six inches closer to each other at the end of his pull
Matthew Swoboda watch the video again bout 2 mins in a dark green reg cab dodge with 8ft box bends his frame
so....how does it work. they brake torq to build rpm's, release and drag?

the smoke is the byproduct of burning diesel fuel when the turbo hasnt quite made the correct boost to equalize the furl mixture. so they pour alot of smoke at first, but then it thins out into a greyish clear smoke when burning correctly.

sure he can build the truck to not smoke with twins and nitrous, but that puts you in the unlimited power class with the guys that have unlimited money to spend on their engines and generally are running tractors with huge diesel engines in them... you'll never win a competition like that because they will put a 500hp truck in the same class as a 5,000hp truck..
it is run off a sort of transmission, the wheels move and the sled moves the weight up the run that it sits on.
the GMC pulled it like a champ.
@Caliber244 the soot is unburned carbon compounds. this can happen due to a change to larger injectors or just regular wear on the engine. it happens mostly in colder temperatures due to the fuel not being full combusted. So ya you've got the right concept.... ;)
Agreed
That gmc was nice and pulled straight
It wasn't as far off as I thought, but it still looks close. I am judging by the blade, mind you. It looks like they both are around the white/red line. Where I am looking?
why does it seem like these trucks cut out half way through when it seems like they're going so strong?
because the weight that they are pulling moves up on the sled towards their truck causing it to be harder to pull.
At what point is a frame destroyed?
what happened to the first dodge?
lol "and i was like, 'do I really wanna spend 600 bucks?'"
