As someone who's spent 25 years doing component level troubleshooting (and more years as a ham radio hobbyist), I can say that you did some really good detective work.
Thank You for this absolute great lesson. I don´t have this problem in my Yaesu FT-1000MP MARK-V Field yet, but when it will came I just know what to do. All the best 73 to You!
Another awesome diagnosis and repair Peter. Thanks for the video. I do have to say that you are a much braver man than I am seeing you resting the corner of that heat sink with the fins hovering over the top of the speaker cone like that. 😲
The ft1000mp was my first big step in repair radios. Could follow you easily this time. Thanks for sharing it inspiring me every time again to do more repairs.
Another great repair, Peter. I learn something new every time i look at your videos. I am impressed to see how you can find these broken parts in the radio. /3 Asle

Great job Peter. I have had the same issue in a IC-756PRO3, warn PA unit in RX with bias in as well. It was a leakage voltage in RX/TX switch stage. Thanks for another great video, stay safe my dear friend. 73s Pasquale IW0HEX
Man you are definitely good at finding the little things that drive most of us crazy. Definitely lean more every time I watch. This is the 3ed time I've watched an leaned something new. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Another great video, Peter. I have found that most hams dabble somewhat in electronics. I guess it's just part of ham radio. But most hams cannot repair their own radios unless they are a working technician. Your troubleshooting techniques are par to none. I really like your videos! I also like in case of german people explain something in english, I like the detailed explanation and the accent too! :) By the way, I was able to follow the investigation and understand almost every steps. But it is not clear why the RX was lost only after transmitting?
Nice vid, Peter. Hope you are doing fine. I had a backlog in watching your videos, but now i am up to date. FT-1000 is always complex to work on, but worth it to save a good radio. So thanks once again for your good work. 73 de Olaf, hab eine gute Zeit!
So those built in self biased transistors are digital switches? I always wondered about them. Thanks for the Saturday repair download Peter. Have a great weekend.
Peter all your videos are great. The earlier ones on Baluns in (4 parts a few years back) were extremely good and fundemental. You did one 6 months ago on replacing the Icom7300 final mosfets. I just wondered where you got those from? I only ask because other than eBay (hmm) I am struggling to find them. David
Had me a Yaesu 757gxII had receive issues and such. Was leaky diodes. Put me in some 1N4148 and fix it good. Did you use Genuine replacements or did you use some equivalent for the diode? Good video.
Hi Peter. Have been following your videos for sometime. I plan on getting into the radio restoration and repair aspect. Could you please post more videos on what type of test equipment you would need to repair and restore both tube and S/S radios, and how they interact with each other. Thanks Hart va3kis.
Hi Peter great video as always I have a radio I would like to have repaired can you advise on how to get in touch please I am based in the UK and would like to ship to you Kind regards Craig
Love to send you my MK2G. Works for 10 min. Then we only have 160. Probably relaying. I Can't see that well or I'd go for it. Be nice to be able to get a New relay board but I'm sure know one makes them.
hi I was going through your channel I came cross this video, I have FT-2000 with very odd behavior which I cant describe, how can I share you the video's of my radio behavior? so if you can help me to solve it.

Hi can I ask why the red TX led is staying lit when the radio goes back in to receive. Many thanks 👍

Excellent work Peter :-))
Why is the TX LED on in RX mode?
It's due to the fault he just explained.
My FT1000MP MK5 frequency display is sometimes slow to appear when first powered on, any ideas Peter ?
Look for bad electrolytic capacitors on the display board.
The backlight circuit is ageing if you are lucky only caps are involved....
@@TRXLab thank you Peter, I have been told that it sometimes helps by reducing the length of the cables from the driver board to the display.

put an MI301 PIN diode instead of the original diode. yes it's a bit more expensive but you'll never have problem with that circuit again.
