I WISH?! One Woman Man?! Heard it All Before?! She's All I Got?! FULL MOON!! SHEESH. Those are definitive songs from early 2000s. Like I'm right back there when I hear all of these. None of these sounds the same but all have awesome lyricism in common. Great to put a face/stories to a name because wow.

I wore that album out!!! I remember seeing Carl Thomas perform at one of the Super Lounges at Essencefest when this album came out!!!! This album stays in rotation!!!!
A lot of these songs came out when I was in elementary & middle school and hearing these stories & knowing his history took me back to some amazing times in life. I met my wife when were 11, so these joints hold a special in my heart whenever we hear them together. Mike City is a legend and his life’s journey is crazy.
Aside from Chucky Thompson, Mike should be mentioned in the Top 10 music producer discussion. I salute yall for giving him his flowers. My favorite songs he produced are Full Moon - by Brandy, Spend the night - by Donell Jones and You Ain't Right - by Carl Thomas.

I was a mixshow DJ for WGCI in Chicago when "I Wish" dropped. Elroy Smith was the program director. The rep walked that record in, Elroy played the intro, 1st verse & 1st chorus. Elroy stopped the CD & took it straight to the on air personality at the time & he ran that record right then & there. MASSIVE record! Salute!

As a producer i really appreciate this conversation, as much as i love music as a whole, RnB/Soul is just a different thing, the enotions that come out of a great RnB song gives the same feeling almost of a great gospel song... love yall for this one 🙌🏾
