But, maybe a concerto isn't really your personal goal. Maybe you just want to play with some friends who play instruments and create something new? I tell my art students (and I try to remember this as a violin student) - "You're not creating something to hang in the Louvre, kids. We're just exploring the possibilities of a medium here. Explore. Have fun! Enjoy. It's just paint/clay/paper/whatever." Don't worry about how good you become. I'm playing Disney tunes for a baby. She loves it. I'm happy. She's happy. If that's not a good enough reason, idk what is.

1 month playing the violin. I can play ode to joy, all the twinkle twinkle little star variations from the suzuki book, 2 random folk songs my teacher taught me by ear, the g major scale and the a major scale. It's been really fun so far! My biggest issue right now is hitting other strings unintentionally, especially when I have to play the A string. But I can definitely feel the progress! I want to practice my violin everyday unfortunately i rarely stay at home bcuz of boarding school and so i had to practice once a month 😢😢😢 can i actually improve my violin skill?
It's hard to improve with just practicing once a month. Is there no possibility to take the violin with you to boarding school? You can buy a strong "mute" - this will make the violin sound very soft so you won't have to disturb others. Good luck!
@@Violinspiration unfortunetly my school is very strict bout bringing musical instrument to school. Maybe i will try my best improving on violin in different ways. Wish me luck. Tq for the tips 💜💜💜💜

Two 30 min session a day works for me or if im very busy two 15 mins sessions keep a metronome app that also counts time you practiced each day once you maintain the habit of practicing everyday it will be difficult to break it
Hi Risky_Vivi! 🤔 That would be hard for me to say without seeing you playing and getting a better overall understanding of your current skills. 😊 If you'd like me to do so, you are always more than welcome to check out my online violin academy: m.violinspiration.com/join-us/
Been watching several teachers of violin on RUclips, probably to my detriment as the styles are all different. But couldn't help but notice your bow hold. Do I need to hold the frog when bowing or higher up like you do ?
I have been playing for three years and I am not advancing at that pace at all. I practice, but my progress is painfully slow and every class there is a new terrible mistake I'm making, with posture or bowing etc.
I understand how this can be frustrating. But learning the violin takes time and patience. Everyone learns at a different pace and practices differently. This video is simply a guide to show you where you should be not a definitive. Have patience, with focused practice you will get there. You got this!😊
I practice five times a week. 30-45mins for each time. And I learn it with a teacher. We have class once every two weeks. I’ve learned for three months now. Hope I can improve faster and faster lol
I'm really having a super hard time on bowing, I would always have that awful sound on it. can you do a vid primarily focusing on bowing-- pressure, right position and when to stop. thank you so much.
Here's a question for that adult learner... many of us have busy families, and hearing mom screeching or on repetitive practice is met with less encouragement than a kid doing the same... especially when there are teenagers in the home. So... how does one build a practice room in a way that dampens some of the sound reverberating through a wood-framed house? Not talking about a full music studio -- the internet is full of ways to build a recording / band practice studio. But I want to allow the sound to reverberate in my practice room, just not escape towards the rest of the house... Any pointers? Future video? Links? Experience in the community?
Good question. Have you tried a practice mute? If a full practice mute dampens the sound too much for you, you may try an orchestra mute which dampens two strings. Here is a link to an article I wrote if you want to learn more. Good luck! violinspiration.com/violin-mute/
I have a question i played on violin 5 years and first 4 years i practice every second day and the last year i practice 30 minutes a week and i played vivaldi a moll 1st mov was i good?
I've been playing violin for a month now and I'm happy to say that I can finally play better in the G,D,A string except I still find playing in the E string quiet challenging because of the very sharp sound and one more thing I also learned virbrato by trying to push myself to do it, I think I need a break. "Going to find this comment after a year to find some improvement"
You've come so far in only one month, John! If you need a break, great! But I do encourage you to keep practicing. Just imagine how far you will be in the months to come. I bet that E sting will begin to sound lovely as well! You got this!🤩
Hi! I just started the violin about a month and a few weeks ago. I am a vv slow learner. Would you say it's normal to still not be able to hold the bow properly and correctly place your fingers on the notes of the fingerboard?
Julia, I understand what you said and I have another question for you. To play what you had demonstrated, must a beginner follow a progressive regiment of techniques offered on your online school or can that person practice by themselves learning new techniques as he progresses and still achieve similar competence.
Hi Woof! For your question 🤔 following a progressive regiment (such as in my online violin academy) is the best way to go. As you can also achieve a similar competence with self learning HOWEVER you will always be taking one step forward then two steps back when self-learning and you may also learn to develop bad habits without realizing it.
I used to practice piano 4 hours a day and I was rubbish after 10 years, I'm hoping the violin is the instrument I get on with haha. I still love the piano but I'll never get beyond grade 5 with it haha
Memorization is something you have to train ourself to do. Some people memorize the fingerings, others the notes, and some memorize both. A good way to memorize a piece is to break it down into smaller sections and then connect the sections together. As opposed to trying to memorize the piece as a whole.
I practice 3 hours a day for a year now and I must say I'm impressed by my progress.
Wow keep it up! You'll come far :D

I played for 9 months and I'm able to play czardas quite nicelly with a fat vibrato, I'm 26 y/o, I played bass when I was in highschool maybe it helped with bowing.
That is wonderful. Yes, maybe playing a string instrument when you were younger helps.😊
At the third year what is the piece you play

How soon can I learn violin
Which violin would you recommend for a pro I need to gift it to my brother. Which would you recomend
I practice every day. What matters most to me is to practice enough so that each day I savor the pleasure of making an improvement over what I could do the day before. At 74, I set myself the goal of being able to continue to progress for at least 15 or 20 years. You'll say I'm dreaming, but all of our modern technology has come from unrepentant dreamers.
What are the names of the songs played?
i used to play classical violin fr some time now im trying western i gota say western is got way more support on the internet and in general
Yes, it really does. You will find a lot of fiddle music as well if you wish to try that too.
What was the 3 year song?
Could you write the names of pieces?
I recommend you to mention the pieces you play in the video
ME TOO IDK THE LAST PIECE AND I AM DYING I WANNA KNOW SO BAD 😭
Hey Julia, what are the name of the pieces, for the sake of us who are starting to listen to classical music and are eager to listen more.
i practiced 1-3 hours a day for 3 years, and now im about to finish the mendelssohn violin concerto
So happy to hear that Brando! 😊 Do you have a video of it on RUclips? would love to see. 🎻✨
Violinspiration - Violin Lessons haha no I don’t do competition due to extreme stage anxiety and idk I just haven’t really recorded them maybe I will one day perform on a stage though! I still have a lot to learn to learn as a musician and there’s still a lot of messy parts third page. I also forgot to mention only the first mvnt.
what's the name of the second piece you played, please?
The song is Minuet by Boccherini!
@@Violinspiration thanks 🙏🤍
What should I do for playing perfect song on violin.. Please reply
Practice, and patience. And don't be too hard on yourself no one is perfect. But you can play amazingly well!
Maravilhoso!
Appreciate the kind words Neusa! ❤️😊
Hello Violinspiration, what are the names of all the pieces you played in this video (want to study them)
Motivated😍
@@elmodeez8048 good luck to you. If you want to learn you will find a way eventually! You still have a long life ahead of you :)
@@elmodeez8048 that sucks! Use visualisation \hypnosis of yourself playing the violin when unable to actually get on it. There are studies showing people can still learn and speed up learning doing this. Check out a book called the Inner Game
Me too😭
What worked for me was keep violin case near you all the time remove as much friction as possible from you practicing it always practice in small sessions in a day eg. Two 30 min session a day works for me or if im very busy two 15 mins sessions keep a metronome app that also counts time you practiced each day once you maintain the habit of practicing everyday it will be difficult to break it
i just bought a violin hook for my music stand, exactly for that purpose. It minimizes the friction.
How long do You think I would need to practice to learn Mendelssohn violin concerto?
Hi Risky_Vivi! 🤔 That would be hard for me to say without seeing you playing and getting a better overall understanding of your current skills. 😊
If you'd like me to do so, you are always more than welcome to check out my online violin academy: m.violinspiration.com/join-us/
How long did it take Heifetz?
He was born in 1901 and played at Carnegie Hall in 1917, so... ???
How to know if I'm already good or not at playing violin?
Been watching several teachers of violin on RUclips, probably to my detriment as the styles are all different.
But couldn't help but notice your bow hold. Do I need to hold the frog when bowing or higher up like you do ?
This article I wrote can help. violinspiration.com/how-to-hold-a-violin-bow/
Is it alright if you practice more than 45 minutes?
Of course!!!!
Wishing you the best in your practice C S! 😊🎻
I'm really having a super hard time on bowing, I would always have that awful sound on it. can you do a vid primarily focusing on bowing-- pressure, right position and when to stop. thank you so much.
I will definitely keep that in mind for the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
What should i practice each day? Should I just buy books online to work through
Here's a question for that adult learner... many of us have busy families, and hearing mom screeching or on repetitive practice is met with less encouragement than a kid doing the same... especially when there are teenagers in the home. So... how does one build a practice room in a way that dampens some of the sound reverberating through a wood-framed house? Not talking about a full music studio -- the internet is full of ways to build a recording / band practice studio. But I want to allow the sound to reverberate in my practice room, just not escape towards the rest of the house... Any pointers? Future video? Links? Experience in the community?
Good question. Have you tried a practice mute? If a full practice mute dampens the sound too much for you, you may try an orchestra mute which dampens two strings. Here is a link to an article I wrote if you want to learn more. Good luck!

You got this!🤩
I play violin and it is very hard but its fun to play and it takes time to sound good
Yes, it does take quite some time.😀
I feel like I should learn the violin (or the Celo) in my retirement. Right now I'd just focus on the piano.
Have fun learning piano!🥰
I play decent classical guitar, will that help?
yes, you'll learn faster :)
Mam god bless you and your family members. You do like this only nice videos. We and God is there with you.
So nice of you to say Preeti. 😊 Sending love and prayers to you and your family. ❤️
@@Violinspiration thank you mam .God bless you
I used to practice piano 4 hours a day and I was rubbish after 10 years, I'm hoping the violin is the instrument I get on with haha. I still love the piano but I'll never get beyond grade 5 with it haha
How can I learn to memorize a specific piece without following a music sheet? I really want to just pick up the violin and play.
Memorization is something you have to train ourself to do. Some people memorize the fingerings, others the notes, and some memorize both. A good way to memorize a piece is to break it down into smaller sections and then connect the sections together. As opposed to trying to memorize the piece as a whole.
