    i was so shocked when August told Wilhelm about what Erik did to him and his classmates. Wilhelm trusted Erik so much and for him to find out about that was heartbreaking

    • @helenogrady4544
      @helenogrady4544 6 месяцев назад +8

      It was heartbreaking for Wille but as the audience I didn't think it was that much of a surprise. Eric was portrayed as a bit of a dick in s1 tbh. His conversation with August at the welcome assembly was pretty gross, and while he was more supportive than the Queen, his attitude to Wille was still very much.. 'buck up and play your role like a good little prince'

    • @manateia
      @manateia 6 месяцев назад +5

      that show does an excellent job at showing that people have flaws, even the one we sees as "perfect". Wille's vision of erik is that "perfect crown prince" who can sometimes become his "perfect" brother and protect him. A little in s2 (when he realize erik was also seing boris) but mainly in s3 he learns through the lenght of the season that his brother also has flaws and was not that perfect and maybe he wouldn't have protected him from august.

    Hi Alex and Josh
    The real-life Swedish royal family supports LGBTQ+. In 2013, the Crown Princess presented an award at the Qx Gay Gala, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia presented an award in 2022, and the Crown Princess gave the opening speech at our Digital Pride 2020. I don't think LGBTQ issues are so political in Sweden anymore. It feels like we've come quite far.. but there's still a lot left to do.

      It did, but I really don’t think Wille was experiencing internalized homophobia. Simon is definitely not a communist just because he sees the monarchy for what it is: deeply undemocratic and contributing to upholding an unequal society. It's not communist to want an elected head of state. This season does a good job in portraying just how helpless one can feel when you are subjected to a deeply undemocratic institution like the monarchy. There is only so much one can do in a classist, racist and homophobic system that builds upon centuries of discrimination, exploitation and power inequalities, especially when you are just a teenager. It hurts to watch Simon slowly losing himself by trying to adhere to the monarchies principles and we all know that Wille is also very much struggling, but it's realistic that two teenagers won't and can't change the whole system for the better just because they are in love. It's simply not possible and I don't even know if it's desirable as I would rather see the whole monarchy crumbling. So I think small scenes like Simon having to delete his social media accounts and Wille not being able to choose a charity organisation that he can truly connect with show us just how hard or rather impossible it is to change this system because critical voices will be silenced and portraying a certain (conservative) image is more important for the royal court than change or progress. As much as I love Red White and Royal Blue, I fear that the portrayal of the monarchy and the class system in Young Royals and what it does to people is way more realistic. And in a system like that ofc the spoiled rich kids get what they wanted after initiating that frankly silly little strike.

    I think the truly fucked up thing re: Erik is that Wille will never know. Wille was sure that Erik would have loved and supported him, but now he'll always have this niggle of doubt and he can't ever clear it up. He can't go to Erik and ask him how exactly the initation happened, if he was in support of it or "just" went along. He'll always doubt that Erik would have been on his side, not his mothers. And as someone who lost someone close to them, that is almost worst than finding out something bad about them.
    Even with Simon and Sara, yes right now their relationship is a bit fucked but they can clear it up. Even if they don't talk for ten years, the possibility is always there. But not for Wille, because Erik is dead.
    And it's fucked because from what we've seen of Erik and Wille in season 1, I do think if nothing else Erik loved his brother, more than possibly anything else. But they'll never get to actually talk about it.

    • @jamLP

      True. Although, if it brings you any comfort, I think even if Eric was homophobic, his love for Wille was genuine and if he had lived, that love would have changed his heart for the better. For me this episode was so important for both of them to realize what they don't want. Wilhelm is trying to fit in as prince also because he is so scared his mom won't be able to do it anymore. Simon is pushed in to a corner he doesn't want to be in and his loyalty for his friends, his believes and Wilhelm is being tested. I loved the conversation with Simon his friends. I still believe in this season if only Simon was more understanding towards Wille things would have gone easier imagine you're a prince you have to deal with the court , how ppl view you , the amount of stress u go through especially after he knew what Erik did and among all this you still have to deal with your boyfriend who usually supposed to be the one wille goes to, to relieve his stress forget about all these thoughts going on on his mind but simon on the other hand is always in a rush to have a conclusion without even think it through, and ends up misunderstanding the whole thing yet wille still the one who takes the initiative to apologize i feel like if not bcz of the patience wille has I don't think they could've been endgame

      @Elena-cn9om 6 месяцев назад +3

      Imagine being a simple boy, minding your own business and being used to speak your truth and always being ignored, and then being forced into public eye totally unprepared and against your will. Twice. (And no, Simon's 'I don't want to be anyone's secret' doesn't mean - make a statement about our love on national TV, it means 'don't pretend you don't know me and don't care about me'). And being left alone with dealing with the consequences most of the time because the prince who brought you into it is too preoccupied with his own issues (it's not a dig into Wille, it just works in both directions). Simon's problems, fears and concerns are as valid as Wille's. He is not Wille's comfort blanket, he's his boyfriend. And Wille didn't apologize enough for all the shit he has told him this season.

      @Elena-cn9om Simon chose to be with wille knowing damn well he's a prince if he can't handle it then he shouldn't have been his boyfriend from the start ,so he ain't got no excuse now to say no or tryna sabotage wille , he gave up on everything to be with him , he went against the court and against his own family and still Simon wasn't satisfied, I'm sorry but Simon is not just misunderstanding but also selfish sometimes , " wille is his boyfriend not comfort blanket" duh its bcz he is his boyfriend he should be his comfort person where wille can reach out to whenever he's down , and you saying wille still didn't apologize for what he did , bro what did he do im curious tho ?? Who cheated on him isn't it Simon who kissed the other guy and start dating him just to forget about wille , isn't it Simon who left his side when wille needed him the most , isn't it Simon who refused to help wille when he asked him to concerning not to post anything on social media , no matter what you might think wille did to Simon, Simon did way more to wille , cz wille at least he was forced bcz of the rules of the court that he eventually went against to just for the sake of simon but what excuse Simon had?.. nothing

    • @Elena-cn9om
      @Elena-cn9om 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@chaymaehalloumi9234 Wow! you have a lot to say. Let us see 1) Simon didn't want to be prince's boyfriend. He wanted to be with Wille who happened to be a prince. No one taught him how to be one. Also Wille knew Simon was from a lower class, openly gay boy and very vocal about his views - following your logic Wille shouldn't have pursued him from the start either.
      2) Simon never tried to sabotage - he just tried to live his life the way he knew it. I repeat- no one bothered to tell him all the rules and teach him properly. Wille's 'ignore the comments' doesn't count.
      3)What exactly did Wille give up? I don't remember him leaving his family, moving into a hut in the woods, wearing rags instead of designer clothes, being left without friends and piers. By the way, making a statement was his own decision - Simon didn't ask him to do it.
      4)When Simon tried to forget Wille with Marcus, it happened when they were not together, after Wille had betrayed his trust. If Wille decided to make a statement and deny being in the video, he should have had guts to tell it Simon himself, not do it behind his back and then expect Simon to be OK with it. And Wille kissed Felice as well.
      Simon comforted Wille many times. He was there for Wille for the whole S1, he came to check on him in S2 (when they were not together) and then again for the whole S3. He somehow forgave Wille's awful words about contribution money and he came back and sat next to Wille during the school 'strike' which was against his own beliefs.
      5) 'isn't it Simon who left his side when wille needed him the most , isn't it Simon who refused to help wille when he asked him to concerning the video that was leaked' - no idea what you mean here, care to elaborate?
      6) Well, I guess Simon's excuse may be being betrayed by his own sister, people talking shit about him on the bus, people pointing at him in public, calling their house at night, sending him shit about conversion therapy, bullying him at school, and vandalizing his home, journalists following him and writing shit about him, making news of the smallest things he does - and all of that without being prepared or protected.

      @Elena-cn9om okay first of all Simon knew long ago that wille will be a prince obviously since his brother died so he has to take over yet simon still was with him , second in the third season when he left him saying love shouldn't be this hard of course it is hard cz he was the one making it so ,while wille was already down dealing with the court and his brother betrayal shouldn't Simon at least be understanding at that moment , caring for lil I mean hes your boyfriend like for once bro c'mon but what he did he left him dealing with stuff all alone , third you Said he didn't give up are you fr many times wille said throughout the whole seasons that he's willing to give up being a prince cz he doesn't like being one anyway for Simon and he did eventually, how he protected him even when hes far , when his mom was trying to separate them didn't he face her several times saying that he loves him he wouldn't give up on him all that sacrifice for you is nothing give me one scene one moment where Simon did something like that for wille im afraid there isn't , fourth remember when wille was again dealing with the court, and his mom got sick Simon at the time was busy caring about comments on social media instead of his boyfriend even wille told him so and didn't like it how simon treated him, fifth once again when wille told him not to post anything on social media for him to fix everything by his own instead yet Simon didn't listen to him and did the opposite which made things even worse he just never listens
      Okay they were not together when he was with Marcus but when he kissed him in front of wille at the party to make him jealous that was an awful thing to do btw

      Second okay they weren't together at that time when he was with Marcus but when he kissed him in front of wille to make him jealous at the party that was an awful thing to do btw and so hurtful to wille which drove him to Kiss that girl (I forgot her name) but at least he apologized for his mistake .
      Third when wille had a lot to deal with in the court nd suddenly his mom got sick , shouldn't Simon be with him at those hard times no bro was busy dealing with comments on social media even Wille himself didn't like how he treated him and endep up calling him out .
      Fourth simon just never listens, remember when wille told him that he would fix the bullying thing simon faced on social media and told him not to post anything then yet simon didn't listen to him and posted which made things even worse for them .
      Fifth which is the hardest one when simon left wille saying love shouldn't be this hard when hes the one making it hard , wille at that time had just known about his brother betrayal plus the stuff in the court feeling all lost instead of simon helping him go through those hardest times he left him deal with stuff all alone he literally gives up on him.

    No, probably Simon is not a communist. There are very few people in Sweden who would consider themselves as communists.
    In Sweden, we have two very clear block, consisting of 7-8 political parties that are either seen as right or left oriented parties.
    Red or blue.
    And those who vote right then carelessly claim that all those who vote left are ”communists”. Just as those who want to agitate and vote left, claim that everyone who votes right belongs to the "upper class". But that is either not truth. There are many in between.
    A very polarizing view that is absolutely not true. Just generalizing labels to create conflict.
    the same goes for those who support the monarchy and those who do not support the monarchy. There are many of us who appreciate our royal house for what they contribute with. While a minority constantly pushes the issue of its abolition.
    However, it must be remembered that the Swedish royal house has no political power at all.
    What it stands for is representing Sweden's core values in a long term sight, and in that also assisting companies and the government to contribute to their Goodwill around the world.
    politicians on the other hand, who intend to think short-term and only for the next election would not be able to put on the long-term-oriented role that the royal family is born and trained into. Yes, one can indeed question whether it is a privilege or a punishment to be born into the role, but on the other hand, a elected politician can not take on the same role, as it is only elected for a few years to come and may risk not being elected again. politicians are not known for making long-term sustainable choices. In my opinion, that is the reason why there is a solid symbiosis between the Swedish government and the Swedish royal house. The Royal House protects long-term stability and politicians act based on election periods of 4 years at a time.
