err of course they can book you lol, but if they are doing 140 its for a reason - to get somewhere else. Sometimes you get lucky, other times they will pull over someone doing 10 over, it just depends

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My budget at present is $200 tops, but I may end up saving a few extra dollars if I will end up with a better unit. Cheers.

amazes me how many Australian drivers don't realise culpable driving causing death has the same jail time as manslaughter. Also third party and car insurance only covers medical costs and damages not the people you hurt taking you to court and suing you for negligence ie you can lose your house for being stupid on the road.
I can almost guarantee that the truck on the left speed up while being overtaken (illegal) like 90% of drivers. It happens to me almost daily. People go as low as 60km/h in a 100km/h zone around corners and then the moment there is a spot to overtake, they do 105. The only way to get past them is what this truck did. Not defending the other cars, but that truck probably did nothing wrong. It's far more dangerous to try pull back in behind because cars usually fill the gap you left and sit in your blind spot. Not overtaking can cost you over an hour of time on some routes, the sort of thing you will get fired for. So don't hate on the truck, hate on the people who speed up while being overtaken by someone. THEY are the ones pointlessly endangering lives, it happens all the god damn time and everyone blames the person who "illegally overtook" and not the person who illegally sped up while being overtaken.

Personally I see way more stupid overtakes than I do deliberate speed ups, and way more people who aggravate everyone by sitting in the 100k/hr lane on 99km because they think they have the right to be in any lane they want - when the law says you need to move left unless overtaking. Also it's my experience that most truck drivers are way better than car drivers at a) going hella fast when they can, b) getting over when they can't, and c) being able to communicate with each other and know what's coming up. Recently drove from Melbourne to Brisbane and truck drivers were regularly moving to the side and waving me past because they knew I couldn't always see round them far enough to know if the road ahead was clear.
