The big question is why do people need to drive 3km from one part of downtown to the other when so many options exist. You’re not stuck in traffic, you ARE the traffic!
CBC is suggesting tolls everywhere, however you have to have other options (ie. transit, biking, better city planning) before dumping the burden on the public can be considered reasonable.
I am from Kitchener & came home to visit in 2019 & 2023. Yes it was a little bad but nothing like in LA where I have moved to. It’a so bad here in LA. I live in a suburb & one day it took me over an hour to get home from PT that is 15 minutes from my house. I could not move anywhere to work around it. That was in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. And every time I go out that traffic is crazy not over an hour like that one day but it’s crazy. It’s getting worse. They say people have made a mass exodus here. I am not seeing it. If there is a natural disaster like a fire or earthquake which we have a lot of. Forget it. You not getting out.
I left Toronto years ago…too much traffic and so difficult to get around. Torontonians are interesting people. The general thought is, if you have a problem with traffic, you should have more cars, more roads and more traffic. Regardless, I still think it’s a great city. That said, it could stand to benefit from a change in approach.
Toronto is an epicenter of canadian capitalism. Pollution, overpriced housing, traffic jams, crime, competition, tribalism, homelessness and debts make Toronto one of the worst cities in the North America.
.......Businesses will move away from Toronto and young people will leave. You no longer have any quality of life living in Toronto. The traffic is terrible. You move way more traffic with buses and cars and not with bicycles. These bike lanes have definitely made the traffic worse. And it hurts businesses. We have parks and nature trails. The bikes belong there away from the cars and trucks and buses. Keep adding bike lanes and you will hollow out your jobs and businesses. No one wants to sit in traffic all day. You will end up with a city of bicycles and with no jobs to go to. People will leave........
Mer, I love you but “not lots of great things are happening” since Olivia Chow became mayor… 😳 I know you wanted to be polite but she hasn’t don’t anything other ran increasing life expenses for us.!!!
The parks are a mess and she refuses to acknowledge the damage that the lackadesical left wing polices are doing to the city. Who'd want to spend money and time in a city that is full of junkies and mentally ill violent people?
Oh please! Try Living in Mumbai! Toronto traffic is a breeze in comparison!🙄🤭 maybe try cycling! We are so spoiled here. Mumbai has no bike lanes. or sidewalks!
One thing your forgetting is majority of these reports never consider these jumbotron cities to compare to because they are so hard to really monitor and record traffic on. Mumbai is "something else" everyone knows. A city like Toronto, their traffic should only be compared to other cities that acquire a similar all-paved roadzone form in the city, like cities in North America/Europe/South America, Oceania. Asia and Africa consists of many cities where majority of their roads are unpaved, having side stores essentially flowing onto the streets (like Mumbai), people walking on the roads. There are many external factors to traffic being caused on roadways there more than here, and its more expective to expect traffic there. Here a lot just depends on simple things like ongoing construction, accidents, or just stupid drivers clogging up left lanes driving at 75 kmh/50 mph on controlled-access freeways. Toronto and Mumbai should not be compared, compare it with cities only where infrastructure is similar (e.g., LA, New York, Calgary, etc.) I mentioned Europe but rethinking now after writing all this, even parts of Europe as well as parts of South America don't also have the same type of infrastructure to compare directly now that I think of it. Compare North American cities only with each other. Comparing two different cities for their traffic where they have two different infrastructural views is like comparing apples to oranges.

Take the TTC, GO train, bike, or walk if you can! Leave the roads for those who need to drive and can't take transit.
There would have to be viable alternatives to driving in order to do that!
It took me 3 hours to drive from downtown to Hamilton the other day. It's horrendous.
Sucks to be you

Biggest trouble with Toronto drivers is 80% of drivers do not know what a Green Light means. An Advance Green Light is even worse…
Well, you can't be the worst at everything!
The Olivia Chow crowd wants you to keep trying

I remember visiting Tokyo, Japan and their traffic was way worse than Toronto. I’m sure they are in the top 10 or top 5 ranking.

And Guilbeault wants to stop plans to build any new roads in Canada.
I'd watch & post comments on the CBC channel if they would open the comments section.
It's all down to terrible city planning, and Olivia Chow.
She needs to go...

Diversity is Candahars strength
If we get flying vehicles we'll still have gridlock 😂
LOVE Tracy’s dress!
No one is in a better position to change your life than you.
Oh please! Try

Spoken like a typical downtowner. Not everyone lives downtown where you can bike around. 🙄
Irrelevant. Just because it’s worse elsewhere doesn’t mean it’s ok.

Try cycling 5 months of the year when you will freeze to death and get to stare at vacant bike lanes. Awesome
@@bigdripbobz1072 The story and title mentions “worst in the world” not western countries. So your comment should be directed at the producers…not me.
Lol bankrupt city is not the worst.. That is a big achievement for liberal propaganda news 😂
Trudeau's Canada
More accurately, Doug Ford's Ontario.
