The Raptor 700R definitely isnt TOP heavy. The Raptor 700R is more an *All Around sport quad* . The YFZ450R is a race ready quad. Thats why its stronger built for jumping etc. I own BOTH & love em. The Raptor 700R isnt a putt putt machine. I get it you LOVE your YFZ450R as do i ..but both are well built to withstand abuse. #MaximaOils #F150Raptor

You already have a Raptor 700 it's likely a lot cheaper to toss a wider set of Houser a-arms and a Dominator II axle to improve corning and stability. The Raptor is a powerhouse once uncorked. I love my old YFZ450R but with a few mods the Raptor is an awesome open class contender.

The YFZ450R are more expensive at the dealer and to modify.
You'll need the Vortex to smooth out the choppy throttle, decrease bog, and flame outs at low speed. The upper a-arms need to be swapped out to utilized the caster bracket for sharper turns going slow and less twitchiness going fast. Several YFZ450R owners believe it's required to resort back to the 09 style clutch basket for durability, and those who ride aggressively will end up buying a lower main subframe.
The Raptor is least expensive at the dealer but it needs shocks and a-arms to decrease the center of gravity to decrease tipsiness. Suspension upgrades typically start at 2500 and quickly go north depending on the brand. The Raptor does not need the Vortex to run properly at trail speeds, flame outs, or for quick burst of throttle from idle. No one has reported a clutch basket failure in the Raptor even though it's the same basket minus the slipper clutch. I do recall seeing bent a-arms but that happens on both models, but I don't recall the frame being a common failure point on the Raptor. A camshaft, FCI, full exhaust easily carries the Raptor over the 50HP mark with a generic port job and a higher compression pump gas piston you're entering 60hp without diminishing durability.
I personally like the YFZ450R for hill climbing. However, both machines when properly modified will get the job done.

Just got a 22 YFZ 450R and love it. It's still in stock form but so far my impression is that it has very good power, especially in the upper rpms (almost hits like a 2 stroke). Very good suspension but definitely on the stiff side as delivered. The steering is quick and it feels very planted. I also have an LTR and KTM 505sx--which are also excellent machines. I also have a Raptor 660--which I think looks better than the 700s. I would agree in stock form they are tippy, but widen them, add a pipe, etc. and they are a lot more fun. The only thing I don't like about the Raptors is they don't rev out like the 450s.

Valid points. Though mod for mod for the raptor is usually quite known, atleast potential wise generally among the atv community, besides being kind of factory "laidback" alongside turbo install as a common utilization, yet utterly unlikely that it would keep up with the yfz in pure riding nonetheless, rider gap or not, handling shouldn't be comparable and the yfz design really outshines most, won't see alot of raptors killing duels if they haven't gotten into gearing etc, casing the short trail-suited gears from factory. Great warrior despite their differences, guess alot of people really appreciate the seat position on the rappy, less maintenance not everyone handles the agressive way of riding.

Your experience is yours, and more than I have tbh. Some of issues you had with 700, tbf, seem inherent to the design, being a narrower quad, which could be better for tight trails. And the front bumper/a arms/axle, hitting a tree is alot of force, there is no suspension absorbing the impact. Better for the arm/axle to bend than the frame to bend or start cracking. The front bumper mounting may be better on the yfz, havent compared in person. The front bumper design may be a factor too, it is desirable to have the front bumper bend/deform to avoid overstressing the frame, like a crumple zone. I think it comes down to use and preference, many say the 700 lasts longer, as far as engine life/no rebuilds, which is appealing to recreational riders, and the softer suspension works better at lower speeds you go on trail, vs the track. Again, it depends. I'm in the northeast, so the trails are often tighter, rocky, lots of roots. Reverse is nice to have. Somewhere with more open trails, reverse wouldnt be an issue, and higher speeds would favor yfz stiffness/wideness. I may get a 700 in the future, see how I like it stock, maybe make it wider eventually. Heck, maybe buy both!😂 A yfz450 chassis with a long lasting/durable 700 engine would be interesting, I'm guessing the 700 engine wouldn't fit though.

I also don’t really get what your saying about a raptor being made poorly basically dogging it lol it’s just as well made as the yfz 100% there a reason why it’s called the king it’s the best selling sports quad of all time! That’s a fact too. There only one thing the yfz does better and that’s take a turn that’s it the rest is better in the raptor or pretty much on par with the yfz maybe jumping is better after a certain height on the yfz but not noticeable especially on the trail. Conquer bigger dunes and bigger hills on the raptor. One other thing everyone probably already knows and that’s that the raptor will last longer then a 450 in general. With less maintenance

Anybody that I write with that has a raptor nothing but problems they can't hit a tree at 10 miles an hour without causing $1000 in damage.. The reverse, and add a cam on the 700 with an exhaust and the raptor will dust the 450. I have both. the 450 is more nimble but the added torque of the 700 is way better. They are not the same torque . Ive ridden the 700 very rough, not sure what your talking about bending axles and arms? Its ok to have an opinion but this is a stretch at the very least lol.. . If you hit a tree on any quad something is going to bend .. the 700 can be lowered easily and widen it if you're scared about tipping. and finally...., you turn any quad that quick at that speed in loose sand without leaning and you WILL tip any quad . Stop hitting trees, this isn't a bullldozer

The raptor sits higher because of the ground clearance for trail riding. People don't rev the raptor 700 off the line because they don't want to wheelie so your yfz beats them off the line!!! If you put the body English in to that raptor like you do your yfz it would not of tipped on you like it did don't blame the machine. I'll take a properly set up Raptor over any 450 because they're easier and cheaper to live with. SOCH instead of DOCH, lower compression ratio (which makes good pump gas ok), lower revving (adding to longevity), more power especially low to midrange, etc., AND reverse. For starters, the Raptor needs the 4.5 inches of extra width that you can get from Houser A-arms along with long travel Stage 5 Elkas. My 450 fix comes from my YZ450F (2 wheels) which makes a lot more power than a YFZ450.

Take that to the trails and Try and keep up with a raptor 700r will never happen. Those 450s run hot as hell if you don't run them hard. Not made for trail ridding
