UPDATE: That man got 130 days in jail for pulling this stunt. He said he was on a last "hurrah" before entering alcohol rehab. This is after he had already spent a night in jail there for public intoxication.

I went to South Dakota and thats the first thing these park rangers told us. If you encounter one at your site you get into your vehicle and wait it out.

UPDATE: Raymond Reinke, 55, of Pendleton has been sentenced to 130 days in jail after pleading guilty to misconduct in two national parks, including harassing a bison in stopped traffic in Yellowstone National Park. He drew national attention when a video of him taunting the bison went viral.
ABC FOX Montana reports U.S. Magistrate Mark Carman sentenced him to 60 days for harassing wildlife, 60 days for interfering with law enforcement, and 10 days for disorderly conduct. He does get credit for the 21 days he has spent in jail awaiting trial.

These Bison are really fast! My best friend and I were in Yellowstone once and stopped the car where some were down an embankment in a field. We were just looking at them and getting some camcorder footage when I looked the other way for only 5 seconds or so and one of them came right up the steep embankment like it was nothing and was right at the car. We hauled ass!

When I visited Yellowstone in 2001, I was 11 and I knew better. I NEVER, EVER approached bison! I had a smarter brain than this guy and I still do.
