I recommend learning MSA because many arabs with different dialects can still understand what you're saying in MSA.

and a few more dialects.
So in conclusion, you should learn MSA so you can speak to many other arabic dialects.
Your wrong, Eygptian Arabic is well spoken in all of Arab countries cause it's the oldest Arabic in the world, MSA for quraan sought of like 90 percent but it won't help you to recite. According to my Eygptian teacher she said alot Eygptians around the middle East. You mentioned nothing about the Gulf Arabic too
@mathewlalaga4564 gulf arabic is spoken in the UAE,and i know egyptian is well spoken and understood over the Middle East.but it is not the official language of those middle-eastern countries.they have different dialects.and as i was saying,MSA can help muslims understand OTHER dialects because they are all so similar.so i really don't get why you're so offended on advice i was giving to converted muslims.
Actually the closest dailect to MSA is the libyan dailect of cyranica (eastern libya 🇱🇾)

First of all MSA is not a dialect…
As an Arab i only recommend MSA because it’s the language that all Arab understand it very easily + it’s an official language of Arabic (all news, books and signs are written with it in all Arabian countries)
Another thing, the Qur’an was not written with MSA but, with the classical Arabic (Arabic +1400y ago) it’s a very strong language and much harder than MSA with a lot of similarities
I chose the Jordanian dialect, but MSA is also good 😁
What is the difference between fusha and msa Arabic
In my country Indonesia my Arabic teacher ( he is from Egypt ) say that, learn fusha is the better way to learn Arabic. Because we can easely to learn another dialect after we master fusha.

To say that Egyptian arabic is not spoken outside of Egypt can give the wrong connotation. Egyptian arabic is widely understood by almost everyone in the arabic speaking world, due to it being so popular in media. This could potentially make the Egyptian dialect beneficial to learn as you will be understood by most (unless you study MSA, which everyone will understand but think is too formal).

As a moroccan i always find myself forced to use MSA when talking to middle eastern people because even though i understand them perfectly, every time i speak moroccan they’re like « huh? there is no way you are speaking arabic right now ». That’s how diverse the dialects can be within one language.
In the case of moroccan dialect it is heavily influenced by the Amazigh language in terms of words and accent as well as small bits of french and spanish.
Yeah, Moroccan is definitely difficult to understand for me as well 😁 the dialects are very diverse, but they’re all amazing! And I hope to learn them all someday 😁
Hi, is it true that not every Arab understands MSA? I've talked to people in the Gulf who said that MSA can be gotten along everywhere, both in the Maghreb and in the Arabian Peninsula, but still I hear from another person (non-native) that MSA is not understood by everyone. @@user-lm9zj3tg3s Hi, i assure you that every native speaker from an arabic-speaking country (from Maghreb to the gulf) knows MSA. Because in written arabic you can’t use your country’s dialect, only MSA works. Also in formal contexts such as politics, medias, litterature or religion only MSA is used no matter the country. So it seems pretty much impossible to be from an arabic-speaking country and not know MSA.

No the saudi dialect doesn't teach you the correct pronunciation , their way of speaking is harsher than how Arabic should sound like and they have an accent , the levantine dialects have the right pronunciation and they're the closest to Arabic specifically the Syrian dialect
@@parksoussou782 That's incorrect the Levantine dialect is more influenced by turkish roman persian french and British languages and is not at all similar to Arabic and I think that you believe that it's harsher is due to the Movies and TV shows that constantly show arabic with the Levantine dialect and in reality they omit some letters and soften others and use words that aren't from Arabic and another Important thing The Saudi Dialect is basically the Arabic language and saying that Saudi dialect doesn't teach you Arabic is massively wrong because you learn the correct way to speak Arabic and Arabic is supposed to be harsh because arabs live a harsh life it can be soft but the introduces changes that causes the dialect to stray away and it's like saying learn English from indians because the English people are way harsher

In this day and age I would say everyone is using words from different languages, it's how it is , we're all impacted with different cultures due to social media and the dominance of English in a lot of aspects + I didn't say Saudi dialect won't teach you Arabic that's not what I said , I said Saudi dialect won't teach you the correct pronunciation of letters and the correct articulation of them because as I said they make them harsher than it should be , MSA as we all know doesn't and shouldn't have accents so if I'm able to spot where this person is from just from the slight accent they have when speaking fusha it means they're not speaking fusha the right way and their dialect is impacting their articulation of letters which is the case with people who speak Saudi dialect _ not all of them tho but the majority _ but with Syrian dialect it doesn't impact people when speaking fusha their articulation is good without any accents _ of course if they chose to switch completely to Arabic with all the letters changes _
The Saudi dialect as well strayed away from Arabic that's why it's a dialect and not fusha , and as well as other dialects it got affected with other accents , languages ... due to a lot of elements one of them being socialization with non Arabs throughout history ...
We all agree that the Quran is the highest form of Arabic in every aspect , right !? , the articulation in the Quran and in the Saudi dialect are so different that means Arabic should not be articulated the Saudi accent way , it should not sound harsh all the way .
The Saudis and Syrians are both Arabs so you can't give the indian accent example .
In the end I love both countries and I owe them both all the respect , but as someone who is not biased to any of them since my dialect is something else completely that's what I would advise someone who wants to learn an Arabic dialect .

For someone who just wants to learn how to communicate, I would definitely recommend levantine, and once you get good at it try to widen your horizons by familiarising yourself with some other dialects.
However, if you plan on becoming fluent, try learning the basics from MSA, then you can learn levantine later.

I have to aay MSA most rational choice in this age. Not only for religious reasons as u said my man .. but we have only one formal arabic (oral formal setting) and only one written formal form (again msa). Another thing. Since literacy levels now are oved 90% all arab people from morocco to the middle east will be capable to communicate to u using msa. Another rational for msa (access to books since as i mentioned msa is the only formal written form) . Peace
Yes, this definitely makes sense. Although, there are many Arabs that understand MSA, but feel too awkward to respond in it, so I would say that is the one challenge.
I only speak the Iraqi dialect of Arabic 🇮🇶 although I can still pick up what people are saying from a few other dialects

@@yousifsuliman2446 speak fast as hell start using slang words, there are a lot of words that mean pretty bad stuff but Iraqis take it lightly
@@yousifsuliman2446 I have a dictionary that is super helpful. Look up The Georgetown Iraqi Arabic dictionary, it's a godsend.
As a nitive Arabic speaker, I advise you to learn the Saudi dialect 🇸🇦 , because it is elegant and has a luxurious sound. It is the original source of the Arabic language, and is understood by everyone.
As an Arab Egyptian Muslim, I noticed some things that were wrong regarding our language(s).
1- There are waaaaaay more than 25 dialects of Arabic. Egyptian and Levantine are actually *dialect groups* and not singular dialects. Regarding the Egyptian dialect, when we refer to it, we usually refer to the Cairene variety. The other varieties ( Alexandrian Arabic, Damiettan Arabic, Port Saidi Arabic etc ) are currently being displaced by Cairene Arabic. I was born in Alexandria yet can’t speak Alexandrian Arabic and the same goes for my friends and most people that I’ve met.
2- MSA is not the language of the Quran. The Quranic language is actually Classical Arabic. It was the dominant language of poetry from the Rashidun Caliphate to the 20th century. MSA can be called a “simplified daughter language” of Classical Arabic.
3- Many many Arabs outside of Egypt can speak Egyptian Arabic. I’d say a good 54% of Arabs can speak the Egyptian dialect. Even if they can’t speak it, Egyptians would understand them and vice versa.
4- Levantine Arabic is a wide group of Arabic dialects. A very very big group of I do say so myself.

Also, your Arabic is really good! Your pronunciation needs a huge step though. Try listening to Arabic podcasts and try to pronounce the qaf frequently so that it becomes easy for you. This is just constructive criticism

Yemeni Arabic has undergone the least changes over the centuries and thus is closest to MSA. Unfortunately, few people would take the time to learn Yemeni Arabic due to the country's poverty.
i am an asian and I learned MSA (still learning), because as a muslim my goal is to be able to read old religious (kitab turath)book, but before i'll be able to go to that level i went through a what and english consider a1-b2 level and once i got to that level it makes it easier to learn other dialects. (excuse my broken english)

unless ya'll wanna specifically learn a certain dialect I recommend you begin with MSA at least to a basic level. Then you can build up whatever dialect you wish. my opinion tho

Qur’anic Arabic is Fus’ha (Classical). MSA is MSA which only developed in the 19th & 20th century lol. It’s the best one to learn first. Then you can go on to Shami (Levantine) which is also widely spoken.

As an Arab, there’s no difference between the two. Quranic Arabic is just more eloquent, as it’s divine speech. But the language is the same

I was just making the key distinction as the guy was saying "MSA is the Arabic of the Qur'an" which really isn't the case, yes there are multiple Ahrof but the standardised written version of the Qur'an today vs the standardised modern Arabic spoken in Khaleej are objectively and understandably not the same. But Alhamdulilah if one knows MSA they have a strong foundation to understand and even learn to speak the other dialects. Although Dijara is not easy 😅
@@wisehakim9887 MSA/fusha *is* the Arabic of the Quran. The difference isn’t in the language, but the form of speech. Also, khaleejis don’t speak MSA. They speak their own dialect, like all other Arabs.

Egyptian dialect is the most useful one if you wanna be understood every where in the region plus there are a lot of sources for learning Egyptian dialect like movies and tv series
This is some general information about Arabic dialects. The Egyptian dialect can be understood by the vast majority of Arabic speakers. The dialects of Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria cannot be understood by a learner of classical Arabic because they are strongly influenced by the rules and words of the Amazigh language, even if you know these words. Indeed, but because of the way the letters are pronounced differently, you will often think that it is a completely different language. Most of the Gulf dialects you will not understand if you are fluent in the Egyptian dialect. There is no benefit in learning the Sudanese dialect. The Levantine dialects are characterized by the closeness of many of their words to the classical Arabic dialect, so it is possible Learn it and it is widely understood, but much less than the Egyptian dialect. The Iraqi dialect can be understood by most Gulf Arabs, but it is also difficult to understand for most Arabic speakers, even for neighboring countries such as Syria.
Yes, very good information! Though I have heard from many Arabs/North Africans that did not grow up watching Egyptian movies that the Levantine dialect is easier to understand.

But due to the massive influence of Egyptian media on the arab world and because Egypt has the largest population of the arab countries almost every Arab can understand Egyptian dialect even if they can't speak it

Talking about dialects I think Levantine is one of the best options because it is the closest to MSA (if you already know some) and it is widely spoken around the world (not only in the Arab world) I mean you can find a Lebanese or a Lebanese descendant everywhere (I'm one of them from México) even entire communities (the diaspora) whereas to find egyptians is not that common.

Keep in mind, the standard Egyptian dialect isn't used throughout the entirety of Egypt. In the south, Nubians have their own languages (2 as far as I know, maybe more, though).

If you have the time both 😁 but that may take a while. Aside for that, it depends if you plan to read and write more or have conversations. If reading and writing, MSA. Is speaking the Saudi dialect it what I would recommend.

Not doing it for religious purposes, but only for social cultural reasons since my friends are themselves Saudi. Plus, I want and plan to make "Hijrah" (migration) 🧳 🛫 to Saudi or Yemen and to settle down there, living there..... So, it's a social cultural reason 😊

And the second thing is the most understandable dialect is Saudi white dialect (because of it’s closeness to the MSA) not Egyptian nor Lebanese and Levantine…

It is such a bs to say levantine dialect is close to msa. They pronounce half the alphabet differently, have loads of turkish, french and just new vocabulary and that complex grammar of msa is also completely gone as in any other dialect.
Between the quran and any modern dialect lay a thousand years of language development, influence of local neighbouring languages, influence of different colonial languages and many more things.
And unpopular take: if you wanna pick a particular dialect to be closest to msa, it is tunisian! At least they still pronounce the alphabet as in standart arabic ظ and ض still separated, ث and ذ still like the english th, ق still in it is original way.
The vocabulary adopted a lot french and berber, but that goes for any dialect

It's not true that Levantine Arabic is the closest to Standard Arabic.
It's a bit confusing because MSA is not the ancestor of the modern varieties, rather it's a modernized version of Classical Arabic, doing away with some complexities in grammar and vocabulary in the classical language.
Conservative rural Syrian dialects in the North are the closest to MSA in terms of pronunciation but this should not be confused with MSA as a whole. Not to mention that modern pronunciation of MSA is more or less based on these dialects anyhow, not the other way around (the creators of MSA likely being aware of this).
The closest Arabic variety to MSA and Classical Arabic holistically in phonology, grammar, and vocabulary is definitively San'ani Yemeni.

Egyptian arabic is quite similiar to levante so people from syria or jordan for example do understand egyptians and egyptians understand levante

As an Arab who only knows MSA, Your Arabic speaking is quite exceptional. If you were to make videos on the streets speaking with Arabs while using MSA, then you would not just shock the people you are talking to, but also your entire popularity on RUclips. If you learn MSA and use it on the streets, then you would be the first one.

MSA is not the Arabic of the Qur'an, that would be Classical Arabic (which has special verb conjugations not found in MSA, different syntaxes etc)

Yeah, I think it’s just from them hearing it over and over again. They don’t always understand every word from the other dialects, but they get the meaning.

There is old information that does not apply to the current reality, which is that the Egyptian dialect is known to most Arabs...but this is in the days when television was the viewer...the new generation watches social media and Egyptian works are not the most watched...the Egyptian dialect is no longer known to the new generations.

I can’t say I’ve come across the Yemeni dialect too often, but I met quite a few people from Yemen in Oman. It seems somewhat similar to the Omani dialect (Gulf Dialect) but some claim it is the closest to the Classical Arabic.

Yes, this would be true. If you would like to only learn the Quranic Arabic, there are specific resources and lessons for that. But some people will still refer to this as MSA, so you may need to ask the teacher to clarify.

MSA isn’t similar to the Quran’s Arabic. It’s a standardised modern variety of Arabic where grammar and vocabulary are simplified compared to the pure language in the Quran

@@abuasher levantine arab has been much more influenced by Aramaic, Persian, and Romanic/Greece language due to many tribe and nation who lived on there. MSA is same as fusha Arabic (Alquran arab) language. As far I know Yemeni dialect is closer to ancient southern Arabic language.
