What made Patrice better was that he had the ability to change his mind, and sometimes did. Anthony is definitely more of a baby when it comes to arguing. Together they were entertaining. Meanwhile Opie... "I love the patreeky"... ugh...
@@Janzer_ no patrice would literally misinterpret how statistics, namely per capita ratios, worked and argued from the most flimsy grouns (folding a $20 to make it look like the twin towers) anthony was funny but also he was right every time. Shocker that a brown guy would call anthony a baby just because he was the one white person in media who would talk about the negative things that POCLATINXAFROAMERICANS do and do at higher rates than "evil whitey".
The "held hostage" line was very telling. He will never admit it, but deep in his heart, Opie knows he contributed very little and had no power over Ant and Jim. Opie longed for the days when Ant was new to radio and was just happy to be along for the ride.

hes admitted it many time. he said it wasnt "his" show anymore. or his creation. which is completely selfish of him. he could of joined in on those topics but chose not to. as much as people hate on opie he did have some funny jokes time to time. it use to baffle me why he would feel like he wasnt part of the convo and zone out or move on instead of riffing back and forth. his mental health issues he couldnt handle ball busting overload. or he would make guests wait outside for hours because he knew once theyd come in he would be useless. but him being useless is his own fault. i really think he had the ability to be entertaining and decided to opt out after all his stupid fucking therapy

I just re listened to old O&A Anthony, Bill and Nick dipalo screaming at each other over guns and race relations, and it was hilarious. Bill was trying his best, Opie was nowhere to be found.

One thing I noticed nobody talks about is how much Opie stuttered. He could barely get a sentence out without stuttering and hiccuping. I’m sure due to nervousness.
I always thought this too. How can Opie do a talk show when he can't utter a clear sentence with out stammering. I think it's the most annoying thing about him.
Don't forget terrible vocabulary, not pronouncing basic words correctly and being complete dud of a person.

I always loved just how much opie constantly force burped to be edgy and sniffled and coughed, chewed and stuttered on air, and telling long winded boring stories, nahh man opie was always a treat to listen too, after all hes been doing it since he was 18
I just listened to when Opie got asshole of the week from some magazine or whatever. Ol greggshells went off on everyone, including jimmy and Ant who had zero to do with it. He gave that writer everything he wanted without being funny of entertaining. What a whiny loser.

As someone who disagrees with Ant politically not once was I ever alienated by anything he said. If anything Anthony was really good at joking around with people he thought held terrible political views, and he was capable of self deprecation and laughing at himself when Jimmy or Patrice pushed back
Meanwhile Opie was the guy saying stuff like "What a sparkling wiggle" as many times as he could in a span of 5 minutes or calling people shwoogies with zero laughs had.

I feel like ant, while racist, is much more accepting and loving than opie. Opie always struck me as the insidious racist who feels threatened by other races to the point where he needs to make it publicly known that hes not racist by making a lighthearted racist joke... except he cant make lighthearted jokes, and he repeats it 25 times so any pity laugh he may have got from people who understand he was just nervous is completely gone and people start to wonder if hes just thinking out loud. "i thought she was an hola" stands out to me because 1: he was just assuming a waitress was Hispanic. 2: he felt that "hola" would be a funny/appropriate thing to call her on his peace and love show. 3: he said it in a whisper multiple times behind her back until even his friends got weirded out.

The thing about being a man who is as insecure as Opie is/was, is that because you are living your life for the validation of others you don't develop any interests. And if you don't develop any interests you don't develop any skills, which means you don't develop into a man. So if Opie didn't give a shit about politics or was bored by it, right on that's cool. Talk about what you're into. But Opie couldn't do that because A) He's not compelling to listen to because he is incapable of forming an independent opinion B) You have add in low IQ to the mental health issues C) He has no interests. Literally none.

Ant and Jimmy were the only reason to listen to the show. Ant's impressions are too notch and Jimmy brought the funny and got all those great comedians on. Remind me what Opie did other than discovering Ant?

I was never an Opie hater but I am really hating this angle Opie is doing now coming out like he is an abused woman. He enjoyed Anthony's edgy jokes and goad him to do it all the time. He brought up My Baby Is Black video for weeks on the show. Its obvious Opie is looking for work seeing where the corporate wind is blowing and would sell his soul by lying through his teeth.
I wasn’t an opie hater either but he ceded all credibility to his arguments when he put zero effort into his
”podcast”. If he’s so great at broadcasting why doesn’t he put a minimal amount of effort in.

Its obvious that he was doing the set-up and how to run it which was fine but Anthony ultimately had the talent to make the show what it was. Opie should have just learned to live with that.

I've been listening to a lot of old O&A clips the past few years, and almost anytime something political popped up, Opie just said "I don't get involved in this stuff."
Easy to see now how he just didn't want to look uninformed.

The way Ant's "when's the last time Patrice fucking called Opie?" line got steamrolled reminded me so much of bombs and flubs.
Opie fails to remember that people were actually listening to o & a and we can remember how unfunny, non participating at times and reliant on phkn callers he always was, breaking the flow of the comedy going on around him.
That's why there's a RUclips channel called Nopie where they take the work to edit Opie out.
At the time of O&A, I didn’t agree Anthony’s politics, but I still listened because politics were only a small portion of the show and Anthony was hilarious. Now, I find myself agreeing with most of what Anthony says.
That's what I wanted from the show at times. Ant could do the right wing and Opie would do the left wing. But I saw very early that Opie didn't have the capacity to do that. I don't agree with Ant most of the time but at least he can convey a fucking thought. And, as you can see, I still check in on Ant from time to time because the guy is entertaining.
The only thing worse than Opie's constant face saving and Ant's bitter ranting is Karl's toothy talent-less bottom-feeder grin...

I think the Opester has figured out that the only content a person (note singularity) will listen to from him is about old O & A.
Honestly Anthony was 35 percent of the shows at least when Patrice was there. Anthony is in my ear constantly as much as Patrice.
The O & A show could have gone on forever just with Ant being the attraction and Opie playing candy crush while interupting good convos with callers. It was great just the way it was!
Opie knows the callers would have shit all over him if he really tried to argue hard left views, even back then.
The only time Opie ever jumped in on a political discussion is when he thought it might go viral. Like the Rumsfeld interview with Louis. He would always say, "I can't be bothered with it." Just to get his two cents in just in case the news reported on the segment.

I used to think Opie was ok, and was the "captain" of the ship who steered the show along, until I went back and re-listened to old shows... .....He really was awful, interrupting constant bits with taking calls from useless listeners. Or just the incessant complaining about the bosses n the station. Go back and listen and its amazing how ope was able to surf the coattails of Ant and Jimmy
But Jim and Anthony aren't good now with their own shows.

There’s ample evidence to discredit Opie. Whenever Anthony would go off on a tangent, Jimmy or the guest (notably Burr, O’Neal) would check him/go back at him if his stance was off.

When I go back and listen to the old shows, two things are obvious. The first one is that Opie's best lines came from instant feedback, and the second is that Opie was a giant asshole.
