Great video! Maybe put tops on water buckets.. You got a few wet on a move, and that could be fatal on cold nights.. I wondered why Cornish X never fully feather out, they i raised them and felt the amount of heat those guys generate..

They are young birds. They are in the between stage where they lose their chick down and grow feathers. like most chicken breeds the the boys tend to grow a little faster than the girls but the girls tend to cover with feathers sooner than the boys who can remain in an "ugly 'tween" stage some weeks longer.

Been meaning to ask, did you give up on the other broiler pen design? The lightweight one that sat up off the ground on some large wheels?
I was wondering the same thing, but now I see that it is easier to keep some weather protection on these original Salitan style pens early in the season.

Hi Richard I am about to receive my first 50 broilers on Wednesday, quite excited. Since I am still full time working I was wondering if I should move them in the evenings already to safe some time prior my regular work, would that make sense or is there a big difference in the broilers behavior when moving in the morning? Cheers and thanks for some great content.
they will be more active in the morning when they are anticipating their food than at night when they are starting to lay around.

Have you thought of doing aquaponics in your greenhouses?
Why? Also he'd have to rip them out every 6 months or so, half the year they have chickens in.

Hi . I really love most of what you do but this is not one of them . It look like profit over ethics. These pens are open air batteries.
I tried this system last year and after observing the birds, I am inclined to disagree.
I would watch them running around and trying their wings as they grew. Near the end as they got big, they would not be as active and were happy just to walk around doing their chicken thing.
They were clearly not stressed inside the tractor. No fighting once the hierarchy was established, even among the cockerels (I had a mixed batch).
I know guys like Paul Wheaton don't like them. I don't even know if he's tried them for himself. Watching them in the tractors on youtube just doesn't portray the full picture IMO.
