Great ideas in here. Love the trailer instead of using crates. We've had some birds get injured in those if they have to stay in for much time at all, even if we don't put many in there. Appreciate your work and farming methods. Lots of similarities in what we are doing. Keep up the good work! Chuck from Sheraton Park Farms.
I truly enjoy all your video's. This one in particular. Thank you. I live in a area of Michigan with weather very similar to yours. Although you do get more snow, ha ha. A 68 acre farm is in my future next spring if all goes well. So you are all the more appreciated to me.
Thank you so much for your videos. They help SO much with new ideas and confirming ones we have. Sort of to say "yeah you guys are probably on the right path".
Very much appreciated AS ALWAYS Your Videos R The UPPER Knowledge Thanks Pete and All involved With Your Life I can't believe what I been missing in Life
I grew up on a mixed farm in Alberta Canada. You remind me of the innovative way my Father approached tasks ! We had a dairy too so had that activity twice a day 7/365! We ran old refurbished everything, my Father was of Scottish ancestry so it was a cash economy! It was hard work but we had a wonderful family life , never were hungry! I went on to have a successful career as an engineer and CEO of a small global Technology, Engineering and Service company , nothing I did was as difficult as what my dad and mother did running that farm! One thing I think is missing you need a good heard dog. We had the small shorter haired Scottish Boarder Collie, moving cattle or pigs is simple and they do not bother chickens , ducks, turkeys or Ginny fowl we had them all! Some herders will , Wheaten terriers are good too if you don’t want heading or dander , if you allergic , just make sure they are “ traditional Irish Coated not American coated , which have been bread for the show ring . Very good farm dogs !
Thanks for the quality information Pete! We raise 100 broilers a year and would like to do more. We live in BC Canada so we can get some chilly weather and we would like to find a way to raise them earlier than June, these tips might help thanks!
Love the idea of the 1x3s instead of the 2x4s. We made one similar to Justin Rhodes' meat shaw, but it's a little bulky to maneuver and difficult when all the birds are under it. Thanks for the tips!
grandad used to use something similar to your chicken pasture houses when we keep meat chickens for the family and a few of the local farms he just had an old 70s lawn mower tractor with custom, tin metal over the engine to keep the rain (He never put it away from spring to fall) out that he hooked to the chicken house which he built it with a 2x8 board bottom to make a sled to pull the house. it worked great other than having to use brake cleaner to start the mower but that was age and neglect
Hey guys is there anyway you can elaborate on the gutters you use for your broiler feeders I can't seem to find a commercial gutter that looks like yours Thanks Ryan
Would a small door in the stake side and a box tunnel/ramp on your chicken wagon make unloading the chickens into their pen, instead of pulling them out one by one?
I'm a new viewer who is thrilled with your videos. Question about the DIY projects (such as the dolly for the broiler shed), does a small farm need a small welding machine to make/fix your tools or do you use brazing mostly?
This question is about your Dexter cows, do they produce prime meat? How would you grade them for taste and tenderness. I know you raise them because they are small and manageable but what about got eating?
What size of plywood do you use when rounding up the chickens in your salatin pens ( the big and small pieces)? That was brilliant, and your sizing seemed perfect! Was hoping maybe you could take some of the guess work out! Thank you!!
HOle in corner of pasture cages with a gate on it, hole in corner of trailer, ramp with sides on it leading into trailer... voila, hands free chicken moving of the butcher sized chickens.
Hey Pete really appreciate all your videos. Keep the Dad jokes coming! Question about predators: I had a fox get into my chicken tractor the first night. So I surrounded the chicken tractor with electric poultry netting from premiere 1. I've been doing this for 2 weeks now and its killing me to move the tractor and re do the fence every day. Any suggestions? I couldn't imagine doing this with 5 tractors going...
You are such a creative person Pete. Loved the wagon so clever
I’m sure you make our Heavenly Father proud!!!..there not much left to say after that !!!may God continue to bless!!!
You have a good hard working employee. 😊

Thanks Chuck!
Love your inventions Mr. Pete! "Employee"...that's the best joke you've ever told!😂🤣

Great ideas buddy....so envious of your farm.
Thank you so much for your videos. They help SO much with new ideas and confirming ones we have. Sort of to say "yeah you guys are probably on the right path".

I hope at the end of your days that you give each other a big hug. Use dryer sheets to keep mice and squirrels out of the 656.
i like the humor in your vidios

Hi Pete. I added skis near the handle to mine. Reduces drag and keep the handle much cleaner. I’ll send you a photo on instagram.

Good, common sense ideas! Thank you
Very awesome, Pete. Thank you!
I was curious about those boxes and the lever design.. Thanks for explaining and sharing!
This was very helpful! We are just getting started.
Could use an old trampoline frame welded or bolted together. Remove the cover and springs. Cover with mesh and tin.

Great tips, pity I didn't watch this 3 months ago. I will certainly employ many of your ideas. Thanks for sharing!
I love your channel! I hope our little homestead can inspire folks like yours does.
Thank you

Great simple ingenious ideas! The designer in you is shinning through. 😊 Thanks for sharing.
Love your "chicken scraper!"
Great tips for better birds Pete.🧡👍🐓

Love the channel, im watching all your videos. Thank you for taking the time
Pete
Your videos are awesome as always!
Great detailed video, the methods you use really minimizes the amount of work. I'm on 3.5 acres, i would love to raise meat chickens on a small scale.
Thank you! It's not hard to get started with them and 3.5 acres is plenty of space.
Hi Pete!
How many acres total you have pasture&woods .you doing great job with your farming
From Pete Westchester ny

Where did you get your chicken drinkers from and what make love the videos they inspirer me
Hello pete, can you show the butcher shed? I would like to see your setup. Thanks
THANKS Pete for all the good tips in this video!!! Tim in northern TN
Love it
amazing video, thank you
Quick question why can’t the meat chickens just go in a fenced area like the layer hens? Love the videos 👍🏻
We called the plunger a false endgate.Neighbor had one for ear corn.
Y'all are just awesome! Thanks for all the great info!
Very helpful.
Love your videos. I have just recently found this channel and all your information is great!
Plunger is great
I am curious as to why you use the bins for the broilers instead of the trailer coup you use for the layers
Nice set-up!
QUESTION keeping your bruder in that greenhouse what is the outside temperature and or date you put them out there and do you use heat lamps?
Hello Peter! Have you ever had any respiratory issues with your broilers or layers?
Lots of good ideas. I'm going to implement some of them.
Hey guys is there anyway you can elaborate on the gutters you use for your broiler feeders I can't seem to find a commercial gutter that looks like yours
Thanks
Ryan
Good info thanks
very cool.
Great ideas. Thank you so much ❣️
Can you tell me what gutter you buy for your feed troughs, where to source it, and how big 5'? Thanks
love watching this

Thanks, this definitely helps!
What kind of drinkers did you say you use?
she isn't YOUR employee she is your BOSS lol
Take care of them chickens get them peepers happy
How many week does ur broiler take mature?
why don't you use water nipples I would like your take on it, thanks Bert
How much do you sell theme for?
This question is about your Dexter cows, do they produce prime meat? How would you grade them for taste and tenderness. I know you raise them because they are small and manageable but what about got eating?
Hi Darren, check out this video ruclips.net/video/PtVE68-24iU/видео.html. I've never tasted beef better than Dexter beef.

Walk to see your process shed

This is a good substitute for those in your age group or with 'Structural' problems (lol) and those who don't have a lot of cash.
To lighten the cage, cross-wire bracing?
Have you ever experienced your birds having red in their manure. Not sure if it’s blood or what it is. Otherwise all seem healthy and active.
How many meat birds do you produce a year doing this ?
The board on top of the feeder should be screwed on loose so when the chicken jumps on it it rolls over and the chicken falls off
We tried that when I built the first feeders. We called it “the chicken flipper.” It doesn’t stop them from roosting on it.
excellent ideas. I am downloading this video for future references. Good to see your beautiful wife in the video also.
Thanks Bernie!
To have known this years ago
So yall do your own butchering as well?
👍
i googled the brand of waters you use and it says they dont work by gravity, they need 6-12 # of water pressure. please explain how yours work.
thx
He addressed this in one of his videos. They work fine the way he has them set up.
He adjusted it all the way down
what brand of waterer do you use? I'm having a hard time hearing it from the video.
Plasson
Why not turn it into a sled? So you can ditch the trolley. 2x3s flat with 45 degree edges probably work.
A sled is awful tough to drag through tall grass.
Idol
Make them taller..more sun light available
👏
Should just install a trap door and remove the floor beneath them. That would be a fun project
