This was originally published sometime last year, but not a lot of people saw it. I'm sharing it again for anyone who might have missed it the first time. Greg is a super cool cat with wonderful stories and y'all need to find out more about him. www.gregmartin.com kentuckyheadhunters.net
Vince Gill appeared in Macon for an Alzheimer's benefit. He visited the Big House and they offered to let him play Duane's Goldtop which he naturally accepted. During that show at the Macon City Auditorium, he played his heart out... one of the few concert experiences I've had that was truly spiritual, That video is available on youtube. Having grown up listening to the ABB, my mother loved them but she TRULY loved Vince Gill. After the concert, as we were walking to the car after the concert, I spotted Vince's bus. Mama (83 years old) refused to budge from the door of that bus until Vince came out to meet her. She was as giddy as a school girl, another unforgettable experience seeing her so excited.
I'll be 69yrs in a month 😮, still a rock'in crazy female after all these years 😂 I'm from SF don't know how I missed them at the Fillmore west, perhaps I was in England 😢
Greg is stone cold cool guy. Of course it was a weekend of reflection, realizing Dickey had a lot to do with the formation of my own musical taste. I know no one gets out alive but that does not make anything easier. Thanks for another great video.
The guitars are what drew me to the Allman Brothers Band. That distinct twin guitar harmony with the call and response…nothing like it! Thanks for sharing this video Otis!
Jack Pearson lit a fire under Dickie Betts ass when he played with the ABB..' I ain't crying ' from. Greatwoods 98 is about as good as it gets. They were both slinging & pulling & bending thu the entire show..A historic show for the ages...R.I.P. Dickie Betts.🍑 Your a well deserved legend now & forever.
Rambling Man is the first Allman Brothers song I remember hearing as a kid. I thought it was a Country song until I was a teenager. I discovered Southern Rock and absolutely fell in love with all the Southern Rock bands. I love how Greg lends his Les Paul to other great guitarist to play. Greg is a great guitarist himself. I love the Headhunters.
I have the utmost respect for DB and hope he is jamming with all his brothers that being said nothing was ever said about Gary Rossingtons passing last year why

Oh yes! He may be a carbon chip off the old block, but in my opinion there are moments when he's even better than his mentor father. Rest easy Dicky In my heart ❤ forever.
